Chapter 266 Report

"What's wrong?" Camilla asked.

The two of them looked up suddenly, like children who had finally seen their parents after being wronged.

Hestia rushed over immediately, her eyes brimmed with tears before she could even speak.

Royce followed closely behind, his expression visibly tense, and his fists clenched.

Camilla felt uneasy, but she didn't panic. "What happened? Why are you sitting at the door and not going in?"

"Camilla," Hestia held back her tears, "we can't get in!"

"What do you mean?" Camilla was shocked.

"Yesterday, the school inspection team and the district fire department suddenly came to the lab and said they needed to inspect. Fire inspections were routine, so we just opened the door and cooperated. After these people came in, they walked around, looked around, and finally informed us that the fire inspection had failed. We had a week to move out and rectify the issues."

"Without giving us time to respond, a notice was posted on the door. We were stunned. Last week, the lab across the hall passed their fire inspection with just a routine check. Why did we fail and have to move out and rectify? The newly set up lab, with the new CPRT equipment, hasn't even been used for a few days!"

Camilla remained calm after hearing this. "Then why are you sitting at the door? You have a week to move, why not go in?"

Royce said, "This time, the district fire department issued the rectification notice. Otis said the school needs to follow a self-inspection process, so they took our keys."

But Camilla still had a set of keys. She opened the door first. "Let's go in and talk."

They suddenly felt a sense of relief.

"Don't worry; have some water." After sitting down, Camilla handed each of them a bottle of mineral water.

Hestia was too anxious to drink water. "Camilla, what do we do now? I heard that 'ordered rectification' is equivalent to being kicked out, it's an unspoken rule. We worked so hard to get this lab, is it gone again?"

Rectification was a tricky term. It could have taken a few days if they were lucky, or it could have dragged on for years. There was a lot of room for manipulation.

Camilla pondered for a moment and asked, "Where's the rectification notice?"

"Here." Royce immediately took it out from the drawer. It was originally posted on the door, but he tore it down after the staff left.

Camilla quickly scanned it; the main issues were twofold: First, the fire safety equipment was incomplete, lacking fire extinguishers, fire blankets, sprinkler systems, and alarm devices. Second, the use of fire and electricity in the lab was not compliant.

During the inspection, they found a piece of equipment in standby mode but not powered off.

After reading it, she had to admit that these issues did pose fire hazards.

But the strange thing was, other labs with the same incomplete equipment didn't receive rectification notices, only they did!

And when they initially applied for this lab, it didn't come with these fire safety devices.

Ultimately, it was the school's oversight.

In such cases, they would usually cover it up, so why would they deliberately catch them in the act?

Hestia explained, "We were all there at the time. The equipment was just temporarily not in use, so it automatically went into standby mode. We were going to use it again soon, who in their right mind would cut the power?"

Camilla already had a suspicion in her mind, but she needed to confirm it. "Let's go check out the lab across the hall."

Hestia was puzzled. "Why? That seems to be a lab for another department, it has nothing to do with us."

Royce also sensed something fishy and quickly followed. "Just go; why so many questions?"

Then they went to the lab across the hall, and sure enough, the corner was now equipped with a full set of fire safety equipment.

Hestia was dumbfounded. "It wasn't there last month!"

They checked a few other labs, and without exception, the missing equipment had been added.

Hestia felt a chill. "Is this targeting us?"

All the labs in the school had their fire safety equipment updated, except theirs. Before this, Hestia always thought it was a coincidence. She never thought someone might be deliberately targeting them.

Camilla sneered and took them directly to the vice dean's office.

Otis immediately recognized the three as Aurora's new master's students this year.

Especially Camilla, the first among the new students to get published in "Science," a moment that had the whole meeting room buzzing, still fresh in his memory.

"Camilla, what can I do for you?" Recalling the recent warnings from Marcus and Sebastian, Otis quickly put on a smile.

"Mr. Jenkins, our lab has been ordered to rectify. Are you aware of this?"

Otis nodded. "I heard. Is there a problem?"

"Why do other labs have complete fire safety equipment, but ours is missing some? And I heard this fire inspection was a random check, how did it just happen to be us?"

Otis frowned. "What are you implying?"

Camilla continued, "The school should also have targets for fire inspections, right? If there's a problem in the lab, the school bears joint responsibility. You should be very clear about this. I believe someone as smart as you wouldn't jeopardize yourself, but that doesn't mean someone else isn't trying to cause trouble. If we were set up, you wouldn't be off the hook either."

"Camilla, what do you mean?" Otis looked suspicious.

"If I were you, I'd check if all these are really just coincidences."

After saying that, she left with Hestia and Royce.

Otis sat there, motionless, deep in thought.

After a long time, he picked up his phone and dialed a number. "Come to my office. Yes, immediately!"

"Camilla, what did you mean by those words just now? I don't understand."

Royce couldn't stand it anymore and explained. "Why did the fire inspection only target us?"

Hestia looked puzzled.

"Someone must have reported us!"

"Was it you who reported it?" Otis looked at the woman in front of him and questioned her coldly.
