Chapter 280 This Time, She Left First

The two stood on the observation deck, watching the sunset together. The fiery red sun gradually sank and eventually disappeared, leaving only the lingering twilight.

Camilla said, "It's time to head back."

"Okay. I'll take you."

A gentle breeze blew by, their eyes met, and both had a calm look in their eyes.

In the car, after taking a phone call, Camilla said to Leopold, "Take me back to school; my advisor is looking for me."

"Alright."

As night fell, the car stopped in front of the gates of Harmony College.

Leopold got out of the driver's seat first, walked around to the passenger side, and personally opened the door for her.

Camilla bent down to get out, stood up, and slowly raised her eyes. "I've done what I promised you, I hope this time you won't go back on your word."

Leopold looked at Camilla's always calm face and couldn't help but want to hold her hand. As expected, Camilla stepped back to avoid it.

"Camilla, I was wrong, and I sincerely want to start over with you. Please give me another chance, okay?"

Camilla looked at his almost pleading expression and sneered. "When you first made this request, I was against it. But after some thought, I realized there are things I need to clarify, so I agreed. We can never go back to the way things were. Please don't waste any more time and energy on me; it's not worth it. As a businessman, you know it's better to cut your losses on a project with no returns. We'll both be fine. Goodbye."

Leopold stood there in a daze, watching her until she disappeared from sight. He had always believed that no matter what, if he turned around, Camilla would be there waiting for him. But this time, she left first, without looking back. In that moment, Leopold knew he had completely lost her.

He stepped back and collapsed onto a bench by the roadside. He was on the verge of tears, overwhelmed with heartache.

After a while, a soft and tender voice reached him, "Hey, are you okay?"

Leopold slowly lifted his head and found himself staring into a pair of beautiful eyes, filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. He recognized her as the woman he had encountered twice before at the school gate—once when she picked up the flowers he had discarded, and another time when she took the cake he was about to throw away. However, Leopold just glanced at her and ignored her inquiry.

Azalea frowned, noticing the Ferrari parked nearby. He had changed cars again. Thinking for a moment, she carefully sat down next to him. "Are you feeling very bad?"

Leopold remained silent.

Azalea was not discouraged. At least he didn't reject her sitting next to him. Thinking again, she asked, "Do you need a tissue?"

As expected, Leopold still didn't respond.

Azalea just wrapped her down jacket tighter and sat with him on the wooden bench outside the school, feeling the cold wind and watching the night gradually fall. Until it was completely dark, the streetlights lit up one by one, and the neon signs of the distant commercial street began to flash in patches, Leopold finally stood up.

Azalea was stunned for a moment and called out, "Hey!"

Leopold ignored her, got into the car, started the engine, and left.

At that moment, Azalea felt a bit envious of Camilla. How did she make such a proud man so subservient while remaining indifferent to the lure of luxury cars and expensive watches?

Azalea had seen Leopold sending Camilla back just now. Though she couldn't hear their conversation, Leopold's dejected expression made it clear Camilla had harshly rejected him.

Azalea put her hands in the pockets of her down jacket, her palms slowly warming up.

In such cold weather, sitting with him in the cold wind for so long, even with long boots, her feet were freezing.

However, she felt it was worth it.

Just now, when Leopold looked up at her, at least it showed he recognized her.

She smiled, looking in the direction Leopold drove away, the envy in her eyes slowly turning into determination.

The first time she ran into Leopold, she was simply curious about him. Later, the repeated accidental encounters made her realize that he might be from a class she could never reach in her lifetime. She wanted to seize this rare opportunity, but he seemed more difficult to handle than she had imagined.

Thinking of this, Azalea couldn't help but frown. But soon, her eyes lit up. The higher the difficulty, the greater the reward—it would be worth the gamble.

Leopold returned to the villa in a daze. At this time, Mira had already tidied up and left. In the large space, he was the only one.

Oliver, knowing his plan, guessed that there would be a result by this time and called to ask, "How did it go? Did Camilla get deeply moved and agree to get back together?"

Leopold's heart ached, and just said, "Come out, drink with me."

Oliver's heart sank, already guessing the result.

At the bar, he saw Leopold sitting on the sofa drinking alone.

Whether it was the lighting or the alcohol, Leopold's eyes were a bit red.

There were already two empty bottles on the table in front of him, yet Leopold was still drinking recklessly.

Oliver quickly walked over, sat next to him, and advised earnestly, "Leopold, stop drinking. I know you're feeling bad, but there are so many women in the world! Why not just let it go? As long as you want, what kind of woman can't you have?"

Leopold didn't speak. The beat of the music thumping in his ears, and the laughter of men and women seeping through the door. His consciousness was already a bit scattered.

"Do you remember this bar?" Leopold asked suddenly.

Oliver was stunned. He looked around and gasped. This was the bar where they celebrated his birthday and where Leopold broke up with Camilla while holding Amara—in the very same private room.
