Chapter 237 The Documents Were Missing

"Stop making excuses. I'm not from the city like you, and I can't get used to the food outside. I'm still your elder, so what's wrong with asking you to make me breakfast? If you don't want to, I'll have a word with your mother-in-law!"

As Julia spoke, she started to complain, saying she had a headache from anger and that she was hungry.

Hearing this, the others began to criticize Bella.

Bella looked at the group with disgust, thinking they probably often ganged up to bully others.

She said, "Julia, you want a homemade breakfast, right? Fine, I'll have Alistair make it for you. Just wait a moment."

"No! Didn't you understand me? I want you to make it, not Alistair! Men earn money, women cook!"

"I understood." Bella smiled slightly. "But in our house, I earn more than Alistair, and I even bought the villa. So, by your logic, it's only right for Alistair to cook."

"Bullshit! You could afford such a big villa?" Julia's eyes widened.

Bella remained calm, "Sure."

Elena nudged Julia hard, whispering awkwardly, "I asked Alistair yesterday. The villa was indeed bought by his wife."

Julia was stunned.

Bella ignored her and turned back to the study.

A woman earned so much money and bought a big villa.

Julia was dumbfounded.

Elena sneered, "If I could earn that much, I wouldn't cook either. I'd wait for a man to cook for me. If you had money, would you still cook?"

Julia was speechless.

She thought, 'Yeah, if a woman had so much money, why would she still slave away for a man?'

Camilla came back with breakfast and sensed the strange atmosphere. Before she could figure out what had happened, there was a loud crash!

The sound came from the backyard, where Alistair's potted plants were.

Camilla's eyelid twitched, feeling a bad premonition.

As she expected, when she went to check, Alistair's most cherished plant was shattered, and the other pots were also damaged to varying degrees.

Alistair trembled, his heart breaking.

He had worked tirelessly, day and night, carefully observing and taking notes, which had piled up thickly.

Finally, the plant had bloomed, only to be destroyed by mischievous children.

The kids didn't realize the seriousness of the situation and even asked Alistair with a smile, "Do you like this flower? We just picked it for you."

Camilla glanced at Alistair's livid face, fearing his blood pressure would spike.

Fortunately, after years of teaching, Alistair managed to control his emotions. Though he couldn't smile, he didn't scold them on the spot either.

Camilla couldn't bear to watch any longer and decided to take her laptop and leave.

Just one more day.

Camilla could hide, but Alistair and Bella couldn't.

After all, they were hosting relatives and had to entertain them.

Otherwise, Zoey would be furious.

In the afternoon, Jared and Heather came over, under the pretense of visiting but actually to watch the drama.

Jared, feeling a bit guilty, didn't want to add to Alistair's troubles and was about to leave after saying hello.

But Heather grabbed him tightly, giving him a warning look.

She walked around the villa, greeting everyone with a smile.

Then she crossed her arms and stood in front of Bella, "Bella, the house is a mess. Aren't you going to clean up?"

Bella had tried, but every time she cleaned, it got messier within half an hour.

Heather continued, "Anyone would think you're lazy. Look at the floor, it's muddy. And that pile on the table, it stinks. What is all this? Oh my, this towel is so black. Why keep it? To clean the toilet?"

Julia walked over and snatched it, "Why are you taking my face towel?"

Heather was stunned.

"Anyway, tomorrow is Zoey's 80th birthday party. We can tolerate a bit of mess among ourselves, but if outsiders see this, it'll be so embarrassing. Bella, you should really put in some effort!" Heather turned her head in disgust, as if she couldn't bear to look.

Bella's face darkened.

Jared tugged at Heather's clothes, signaling her to stop.

Heather shook him off, annoyed. She hadn't said enough!

Bella suddenly smiled, "With so many people, it's bound to be messy. You should thank us; otherwise, your house would be the one in a mess."

Heather was speechless.

"Heather, if you're so free, why not help me clean up? You said we can't embarrass the Learmond family."

With that, Bella went to get a broom.

Heather looked horrified, "I just remembered I have something to do. I have to go!"

She dragged Jared away in a hurry.

Fortunately, the next day was the birthday party.

After the relatives and friends attended the party at the hotel, they all went home.

Alistair and Bella finally sighed in relief.

However, that night, when the family of three returned home, they found that Julia's family hadn't left!

Alistair was dumbfounded. "Julia? Didn't the car to take everyone back to the village leave this afternoon?"

"Oh, Zoey said we haven't seen each other in so long, so we should stay a few more days. She said it, so I couldn't refuse, right?"

Zoey was just being polite, but Julia took it seriously.

Well, if she took it seriously, so be it. Staying at Alistair's place didn't bother Zoey.

Alistair and Bella exchanged a look, feeling hopeless.

Camilla received a message from Hestia and didn't have time to deal with the uninvited relatives in the living room. She went straight upstairs.

Some experimental data was incomplete and needed to be manually supplemented. Fortunately, Camilla had the original data. She had printed a copy when she left the lab.

It came in handy.

Camilla replied to Hestia while walking to her room.

Because she had brought some paper documents this time and didn't want the relatives to mess with them, she had locked her room.

She was always careful when entering and leaving.

However, as soon as she opened the door, she noticed something was wrong!

The desk had been obviously disturbed, her open laptop was now closed, the pen holder was knocked over, and pens were scattered everywhere.

The chair was pushed to a corner far from the desk.

But the worst part was that the documents were missing!
