Chapter 215 He's the Only One

"What is this?"

"It looks like experimental equipment! And it was delivered by a foreign engineer!"

"Do you think they just delivered it? After the equipment is installed, it still needs to be calibrated."

"I remember this lab was unused before. Why is there suddenly new equipment?"

"Isn't it obvious? Someone must be using it now!"

"Must be expensive, just look at it!"

Listening to the constant chatter around him, Noe's face grew darker.

Bronte squeezed to the front, staring at the equipment in disbelief.

It was indeed a CPRT, but not quite the same.

This one was half the size of the two the academy already had.

She quickly glanced at it; the buttons were all touch-sensitive.

The display screen was nearly twice as large.

"This is the latest generation of CPRT!" Noe almost screamed.

Not only was it more advanced than their current CPRT, but its functions were also more comprehensive.

Noe rushed forward and demanded, "Where did you get this?"

Camilla said, "Does it have anything to do with you?"

Noe was speechless.

Hestia, holding a cookie and smiling, said, "Didn't you tell us to buy it ourselves yesterday? Now that we've bought it, aren't you surprised? Aren't you happy for us?"

Noe couldn't even force a smile!

Bronte shook her head. "Impossible, even if you could afford it, you couldn't get it this quickly!"

Royce replied, "Haven't you heard of pre-ordering?"

"No, no way."

Such expensive equipment, how could they just buy it like that?

But that wasn't the most shocking part.

In the afternoon, a Disciplinary Notice was posted on the academy's homepage.

The content was roughly as follows: After investigation, third-year graduate student Ignatius deliberately occupied the laboratory, severely wasting academic resources. We hope all students and faculty take this as a warning!

Calliope saw the notice and smashed her water cup.

She stormed into Otis's office, looking down at him. "Otis, you punished my student. Shouldn't you have informed me first?"

Otis's expression remained unchanged, as if he had expected her to come. "The academy's decision, according to relevant procedures, does not require informing the advisor."

"Now you're talking about procedures? Don't you think that's hypocritical?"

"Calliope, mind your language! I'm still the director here. Don't think you can be arrogant just because you've had some minor academic achievements in recent years!"

Otis squinted his eyes, "Let me tell you, if Ignatius isn't punished, then who should be? Have you thought about that?"

Calliope stiffened.

"Don't think the academy doesn't know about your little tricks. We've just turned a blind eye because of your hard work over the years. Now that things have come to light, sacrificing one Ignatius to let you off the hook, what more do you want?"

With just a few words, Calliope was successfully silenced.

In the dormitory, Ignatius scanned the notice with a blank expression.

Irvin stood by, too afraid to speak, clenching his fists anxiously.

He wanted to say something but didn't dare, opening and closing his mouth several times.

Suddenly, Ignatius asked, "Did Camilla and the others really buy the CPRT themselves? The latest generation?"

Irvin was surprised. This wasn't what he expected.

Ignatius's eyes lit up. "Let's go take a look."

Irvin was helpless, thinking, 'You just got punished!'

Outside the lab, the crowd had already dispersed.

Camilla and the others weren't there; only a few engineers were inside calibrating the equipment.

Since the door was open, Ignatius politely asked and was allowed in.

He walked in with Irvin, looking at the equipment in awe.

"It really is the latest generation. I didn't expect so many optimizations." Ignatius even subconsciously wanted to touch it, but quickly suppressed the thought.

Irvin, who hadn't officially started his experimental projects, didn't know what was special about the equipment, but seeing Ignatius's expression, he couldn't help but take a few more glances. "Ignatius, is it expensive?"

Ignatius nodded, "Very expensive."

"How much?"

"Over a million dollars."

That was terrifying.

Not the price, but the fact that Camilla and the others could just buy something so expensive.

Three people, over a million dollars.

Irvin thought of his parents, hardworking farmers who, in their best year, could only save a few thousand dollars.

And buying this equipment cost over a million dollars.

Irvin was stunned.

At that moment, Hestia's voice came from the hallway; they were back!

Ignatius and Irvin quietly left through the back door.

Before leaving, Ignatius couldn't help but look back. In the sunlight, Camilla, Hestia, and Royce walked in, laughing.

Camilla was carrying expensive bottled water.

Hestia was holding a bunch of snacks, also not cheap.

Royce was drinking a sports drink with packaging Ignatius had never seen before, and of course, had never tasted.

"Ignatius, what are you thinking?" As they walked downstairs, Irvin nudged his shoulder, seeing he hadn't spoken.

Ignatius replied, "It's nice."

Irvin sighed, "Yeah, new equipment.?"

Ignatius smiled.

He wasn't talking about the equipment but about their courage to resist, the ability to fight, and the financial means to back it up.

It was really nice.

Aurora only found out about the new CPRT three days after it arrived.

As expected, Aurora was furious.

"That Calliope! How could she do this! And you guys, why didn't you tell me about such a big thing? Yes, I'm old, and my health isn't great, but I'm not dead yet!"

Camilla quickly interrupted her, "Don't talk about dying!"

Aurora said, "Just tell me. Why would you have to go to such lengths and spend your own money to buy a new one?"

Camilla said, "It's worth the price. We've tried the new equipment, and it's much better than the old ones the academy has. The efficiency has improved significantly."

"Yes, yes!" Hestia nodded, "It was worth the money! Totally worth it!"

Royce also said, "The new equipment is indeed better."

Aurora was helpless. What else could she say?

"You always have so many excuses!"

And so, the matter was settled.

Calliope had been in a bad mood these past few days.

First, Ignatius got criticized, which also embarrassed her as his advisor.

Then the dean asked to speak with her.

Not Otis, the vice dean in charge of miscellaneous affairs, but the actual head of the Life Sciences Department.

He subtly warned her not to create academic divisions or form cliques.

Calliope left the dean's office with a cold sweat on her back.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She stormed into Otis's office, demanding if he had reported her.

Otis looked puzzled, "Why would I do that? Reporting to the dean does me no good. I'd rather keep this under wraps to avoid being blamed for poor management!"

Calliope paused, frowning, "Then who did it?"

A person came to Otis's mind.

Marcus could only show off in front of him and had no access to the dean.

The only one who could make the dean happy and willing to do him a favor was him.
