Chapter 263 Juniper, Don't You Want It?
"I'm done drinking," Juniper put down her glass and stood up.
She knew her limits. Drinking too much can lead to trouble, especially when there was a man at home.
Simon paused. "You haven't finished yet, why are you leaving?"
"Do you think my house is a bar? Drinking endlessly?"
"Wouldn't it be a waste not to finish?"
"I can save it and drink it alone tomorrow."
"It's getting late," Juniper pointed to the clock on the wall, "You should leave."
"Why are you like this?"
"Like what?"
"Use me when you need me, toss me aside when you don't. Who does that?"
"What else? Should I let you stay overnight?"
"Isn't it normal for a boyfriend to stay at his girlfriend's place? Even if we're fake, shouldn't we at least act the part?"
"Boring! Who cares if we stay together or not?"
Just then, Simon's phone rang with a video call notification.
He glanced at it and smirked. "Looks like someone does care."
Before Juniper could react, he answered the call. Hey, Mom, what's up so late?"
On the other end, Natalia said, "Where are you? This doesn't look like your place."
Simon chuckled. "At Juniper's house."
"Really?" Natalia was surprised, "Don't lie to me."
"Of course not! I'll have her say hi."
Juniper immediately put on a smile and sat next to him. "Mrs. Miller, good evening."
"Hi, Juniper! I didn't expect Simon to really be at your place. Are you getting ready for bed?"
"Yes."
"Remember to dry your hair, it's not good to leave it wet for too long."
"Got it, I'll dry it in a bit."
"Let Simon help you."
"Okay."
Natalia added, "That bracelet looks great on you, I knew I picked the right one!"
Juniper was wearing the bracelet Natalia had given her.
"You have great taste."
That comment made Natalia very happy.
"I have plenty of treasures, feel free to wear them. In the future, they'll all be yours!"
Simon was an only child, so the future inheritor of Natalia's jewelry would naturally be Simon's wife.
Juniper thought, 'I am not that lucky.' But she kept agreeing politely.
"Alright, I won't disturb you two anymore. Good night."
Juniper said softly, "Goodbye."
After ending the call, Simon put away his phone. "See? My mom checks up on me all the time."
"Didn't I just help you get through it? Now leave; I want to sleep."
"Wait; where's your hairdryer?"
"What are you doing?"
"Didn't you hear my mom's orders? I'm going to dry your hair."
"No need; I can do it myself."
"No way! I'll dry it and take a picture to send to her, so she can sleep peacefully. Otherwise, she'll call again tomorrow."
"Fine, hurry up."
Simon picked up the hairdryer and skillfully ran his fingers through her hair.
"This isn't your first time, is it?"
"I'm versatile."
"Who knows how many girls' hair you've dried to get this good."
Simon smirked. "Jealous?"
"We're not really together, I don't care whose hair you've dried." Juniper touched her chin, "I was just thinking with this skill, if you ever go bankrupt, you could work at a salon and support yourself."
"Done." He turned off the hairdryer.
Juniper casually ran her fingers through her hair. It was smooth but not dry, quite well done.
Simon's face lit up with a smug grin. "How is it?"
For the first time, Juniper acknowledged him. "You should open a salon, I'd get a membership right away."
She yawned, walked to the bed, lay down, rolled over twice, and wrapped herself in the blanket. "I'm going to sleep. Turn off the light and close the door on your way out. Bye!"
Simon snorted and thought, 'Am I your servant?'
Simon grumbled to himself but still turned off the light and gently closed the door.
With a bit of alcohol and a slight buzz, Juniper quickly fell asleep.
After Simon left, he looked at the decanter with the unfinished wine, thought for a moment, picked up a glass, and poured himself another drink.
Then, one glass after another, until the decanter was completely empty. Simon felt dizzy, his vision blurred, and his body felt weightless. But his mind was clear; he knew the alcohol was kicking in. The wine was good, and the sensation was delightful.
He decided to lie on the sofa and rest for a bit before leaving. But he ended up falling asleep.
In the middle of the night, Juniper woke up thirsty and went to get some water. She noticed the living room light was still on and, half-asleep, turned it off. After drinking, she was heading back to her bedroom when her wrist was suddenly grabbed. Instantly alert, she swung at the shadowy figure, but her hand was caught mid-air by a warm, large hand. Before she could yell, Simon pulled her forward. Juniper fell into a warm, alcohol-scented embrace, hitting a firm chest.
"What are you doing?" she was a bit angry.
But the next second, Simon's fingers ran through her hair, touched her scalp, and gently caressed her earlobe, sending a shiver through her.
She started to speak, but before she could finish, she was flipped over, finding herself pinned under Simon.
"Simon, are you crazy?! Didn't I tell you to leave?! Why are you sleeping on my sofa?!"
"Juniper."
In the dark, her anger was halted by his soft murmur.
She was a bit confused.
"Juniper," he called her name again, clearly and intimately, making her realize the first "Juniper" wasn't a mistake.
"Simon, let me..." Before she could finish, Simon leaned down and kissed her, leaving Juniper stunned.
It took a while for Juniper to react. "Get off me!"
In the dark, Simon chuckled softly. "Juniper, don't you want to make love with me?"
