Chapter 163 This Absolutely Cannot Be Let Go

"Amara, why have you lost so much weight?" Lily held her hand, which was cold as ice.

"I heard that even after a miscarriage, you need to take good care of yourself, or it could lead to long-term health issues. You must..."

As soon as Amara heard the word miscarriage, her eyes turned sharp. "Who are you saying had a miscarriage?"

Lily was stunned.

Amara shouted, "Don't talk nonsense! I'm perfectly fine! Nothing's wrong with me!"

"Amara, you..."

"You here to laugh at me? Not a chance!" Amara sat up abruptly, her whole body radiating aggression. "You think just because I'm down, anyone can humiliate me? Lily, wipe that sympathetic look off your face. Do you think I didn't know you were jealous of me for dating a rich guy back in the dorm? Let me tell you, even though I'm in the hospital now, the things I've had, you'll never get in your lifetime!"

Lily was completely bewildered.

She had no idea what had gotten into Amara.

Amara let out a cold laugh. "You're not here to visit me; you're here to try to get into the rich circles through me, right? Stop pretending. I can easily tell through your look!"

"You!" Lily's cheeks flushed with anger. "You're being ridiculous! Unreasonable! I came to see you out of kindness, and this is how you treat me?"

She had originally planned to advise Amara to take the opportunity to apply for reinstatement at school.

Even though her dream of marrying into a wealthy family had shattered, at least she could focus on her studies and find a job to support herself after graduation.

But now, it seemed completely unnecessary.

Amara was already blinded by wealth and had fallen into the pit of fame and fortune, unable to climb out.

No, Amara didn't even want to climb out; she wanted to die in there.

Lily stood up. "Our friendship ends here. We're not on the same path, so there's no need to stick together. From now on, when we meet, let's pretend we don't know each other."

"Who wants to stick with you? Who wants to know you? Get lost! Get far away from me!" Amara shouted at her back.

Lily didn't look back.

After yelling, Amara collapsed onto the bed, panting heavily.

Suddenly, her phone rang. Amara grabbed it like a lifeline and quickly answered.

"Leopold, why haven't you come..." to see me?

"Amara, it's me." A woman's sharp voice, accompanied by the sound of cards slapping on a table, reached her ears, and Amara froze.

"Amara, are you listening? Don't pretend to be deaf with me!"

"Mom." Amara mumbled, calling her.

"My luck's been bad lately. Send me some money," Clio Webb said in a bad tone.

"Didn't I just give you five thousand dollars last time?"

"Not enough! How many rounds can I play with that? Hurry up, don't make me miss my game."

Amara took a deep breath. "I don't have any money."

"Playing poor, huh? Your brother said you bought him a phone recently. How come you have no money when I ask for some?"

"Mom, I really don't have any money!" Amara suddenly felt very helpless.

"Bullshit! Don't think I don't know you're with a rich guy in New York. The money he gives you is enough for our whole family to live comfortably for the rest of our lives. And now you're telling me you have no money!" Clio spat. "Let me tell you! I spent so much money sending you to New York for college, and in just a few years, you've forgotten your roots? Believe me, I can send you flying high, and I can also drag you down!"

Amara was so angry she started crying, her voice hoarse as she shouted, "I said I have no money! No money! Even if you kill me, I have no money! What more do you want from me?!"

Clio didn't hear anything else, just the words "no money." She fumed, "No money? Then go sleep with a man, and money will come! Haven't you learned that since you were a kid?"

"What man? No one wants me! Who am I supposed to sleep with?!" Amara yelled.

Clio's eyes shifted, finally detecting something off in her tone.

Since it was about getting more money from Amara, Clio finally left the card table and found a quiet place. "What do you mean? What about your rich boyfriend? Didn't you say you were about to marry into a wealthy family? Did they back out?"

Hearing Clio's excited tone, Amara thought she still cared about her. Feeling wronged, she immediately cried and recounted what had happened recently.

Clio was furious. "That family is so disgraceful! You've slept with him and even got pregnant, and he says he doesn't want you?"

Not even a bit of compensation? That was too much!

Thinking of this, Clio's eyes flashed with a frightening light. "Amara, wait. Your brother and I will buy tickets right now and come to support you! This matter can't be left like this!"

Camilla's thesis was nearing completion.

So, she had been spending almost all her time in the lab lately.

Even Betty couldn't help but exclaim, "You're working too hard!"

Camilla sighed.

She had no assistant, no teammates. How could she not work hard?

At noon, after lunch, Camilla went to the lounge for her usual nap.

No matter how busy she was, she always made time to rest. Only by resting well could she be efficient in the afternoon.

Sebastian had a full schedule today and wouldn't be coming to the lab, so she could have the lounge all to herself. Camilla stretched comfortably.

She lay down and began to enjoy her nap time.

Betty and the other three also had their own lounges. When Camilla joined, there were a total of five lounges in the lab, so there was no way to give her one.

Fortunately, Sebastian's lounge was big enough and had a suite. She bought a folding bed and placed it behind the door of the inner room.

The location was hidden, and the light was dim, making it perfect for sleeping.

Usually, Sebastian would nap in the outer room. With one in the inner room and one in the outer room, separated by walls and a door, the spaces were independent, so it didn't feel inconvenient.

It was Sebastian who had suggested she use the inner room in the first place.

After checking it out and confirming it wouldn't inconvenience anyone, and since she did need a quiet space for her naps, Camilla agreed.

Betty and Hector both said, "This inner room is great, shaded and cool."

Darren and Doris took a look.

Darren said, "Sebastian's lounge is really big."

Doris pouted, her eyes falling on the folding bed. "It's fine."

She thought, 'Far enough from the outer room. Camilla wouldn't dare have any other intentions.'

Sebastian had a full schedule today and hadn't planned to come to the lab.

But at lunch in the cafeteria, a student clumsily spilled soup, and as he happened to be passing by, his shirt got stained in an instant.

Remembering he had a change of clothes in the lab lounge, he decided to make a quick trip.

He planned to change and leave since he had classes in the afternoon.
