Chapter 92 Sebastian's Solace
Clara's eyes, which were all fired up a second ago, suddenly lit up like a Christmas tree.
She thought, 'Oh, hell yeah! So that's the deal! No wonder she nailed that interview.'
Clara whipped out her phone and snapped a bunch of pics of the two from behind.
After getting the shots, she checked them out. Sebastian was just a step behind Camilla, his tall frame practically wrapping around her.
From this angle, it looked like Sebastian was straight-up hugging Camilla.
Clara's eyes narrowed, thinking, 'This trip was totally worth it. Don't blame me for playing dirty; Camilla's the one who didn't know her place and tried to compete with me.'
She got back to her car, pulled out her laptop, and accessed the Harmony College website. She quickly found a complaint email address on the homepage.
She uploaded the pics and typed out a self-righteous message: [To keep Harmony College's rep clean and avoid setting a bad example for the students, I urge the school to rethink Camilla's admission.]
Finally, she hit "Send Anonymously," and the email was off.
But she didn't stop there; she posted the same message on Twitter.
One was the top scorer in this year's grad entrance exam, and the other was a hotshot genius professor at Harmony College. Right after the interview, the post blew up in minutes.
It spread like wildfire across the internet.
[If even Harmony College is like this, what about other schools? The stuff going on behind the scenes is way worse than we know.]
[There's photo proof. How long is Harmony College gonna keep playing dumb?]
[Harmony College should kick Camilla out and fire the shady professor.]
[Harmony College, we need answers!]
[Make this chick famous so no other school touches her!]
Juniper was chilling at home, scrolling through short videos when she saw the news about Camilla and Sebastian.
She shot up from the couch, totally shocked. Her face got serious.
"Oh, this is bad." She opened the comments, and yep, it was full of hate.
She quickly closed the app and called Camilla.
On the other end, Camilla was still deep in her books. Having aced the interview, she could finally focus on prepping for the lab team selection.
The workload was heavy, so she made a simple plan, detailing her daily tasks. When she answered the phone, her eyes didn't even leave the research papers, responding absentmindedly.
Juniper immediately knew Camilla was probably clueless and urgently said, "Someone took pics of you and Sebastian going home together and posted them online. It's blowing up on Twitter, and the buzz is still growing!"
Camilla's hand holding the pen froze, and she immediately clicked on the link Juniper sent.
The photos were blurry, like they were meant to look sketchy.
The comment section was full of gossip and angry folks, and the comments kept stacking up, growing increasingly vicious.
Camilla's hand trembled slightly, almost dropping her phone.
"Camilla! Camilla? Can you hear me?" Juniper, not getting a response, raised her voice, worried.
The words on the screen took a while to hit Camilla, who finally croaked out, "I'm fine."
"Those folks are just talking outta their butts. Don't read it, and don't stress. No one knows better than me how hard you've worked to get here. I won't let you get screwed over, and my cousin won't either. Chill out," Juniper comforted.
Her words were like a warm hug for Camilla.
"Thanks, Juniper."
As soon as the call ended, Sebastian rang Camilla up.
"I know about the Twitter mess," he said, cutting to the chase. "Someone's stirring the pot with those pics to cause a scene and muddy the waters. It's probably tied to your exam results."
Camilla pressed her lips together, staying quiet.
Sensing her silence, Sebastian paused and said, "The school got a complaint and has already set up an investigation team. I believe they'll respond soon. The school won't screw over a top student, nor will they let any jerk get away with it."
After a beat, Camilla asked, "Can they find out who's behind this?"
"Shouldn't be too hard, but it'll take some time. Don't sweat it; the school's on it, especially Professor Garcia."
Aurora had caught wind of the situation as soon as it started blowing up.
Since it involved Sebastian, while the school leaders were still dragging their feet, she stepped up to vouch for Camilla and demanded a thorough investigation.
Sebastian didn't even have time to jump in before the matter was handled.
As Camilla listened, she couldn't help but picture Aurora's serious face fighting for her.
She smiled a bit, her mood slowly easing despite the online chaos. "Thanks," Camilla said softly.
Sebastian noticed the change in her tone and smiled slightly. "Feeling better now?"
Camilla replied, "Yeah, thanks."
Sebastian felt relieved.
Before hanging up, he said, "Great people often attract jealousy and trouble, but the fault isn't with being great; it's with those who use dirty tricks."
"So, don't be scared. The truth will come out."
Camilla felt a warmth in her ears. "Okay."
The next day, the trending topic shifted.
As expected, yesterday's post got buried, replaced by a video of Camilla's interview.
In the video, she spoke clearly and logically, answering the interviewers' questions calmly and confidently.
She tackled professional questions head-on and concisely. Not a single moment of hesitation.
[Is this really not pre-recorded? How can someone be this impressive?]
[I can vouch for this. It's definitely not pre-recorded. The Harmony College grad interviews are super strict, and the whole process is recorded. I'm a second-year grad student, and I had to take the exam three times and interview twice to get in. The process is standardized every year; there's no way to cheat.]
[Am I just not smart enough? The person in the video explained everything clearly, but I still didn't get it because I was too focused on her face!]
[Finally, someone noticed her looks. My goodness, do smart people all look this good?]
[She's really beautiful and looks so perfect with Sebastian!]
