Chapter 209 Pulling Her Close

"Hey, what are you spacing out for? Give me the water cup."

All the beauty shattered the moment Juniper spoke!

Simon's mouth twitched. "Can I make a suggestion?"

"Go ahead." Juniper took a sip of ice water, feeling instantly refreshed.

"Can you be a bit gentler when you talk to me? We're a couple, not enemies. My mom will worry if you keep this up."

"Worry about what?"

"Worry that you're bullying me!"

Juniper was speechless.

"Excuse me, Honey, is this how I should talk?~ Do you think your dad will like this dress? I spent a long time picking it out~" Juniper said in an exaggeratedly sweet tone.

Simon quickly said, "You'd better be a bit fiercer. Fierce is good."

Fierce was more normal.

"Say fierce one more time, I dare you to try."

Simon replied quickly, "Not fierce, not fierce at all."

Juniper quickly put on some light makeup.

"Alright, let's go."

Simon was stunned. "Your makeup..."

"How is it? Doesn't it look natural? I'm telling you, this makeup is designed to look like I'm not wearing any, just to fool guys like you. Not bad, right?"

Having been fooled countless times, Simon remained silent.

Why did it feel like every word was a jab at him?

By the time they arrived at the Miller Mansion, it was almost noon.

Natalia stood at the door, looking out repeatedly. Finally, she saw Simon's car and quickly went to greet them with a smile.

As soon as Juniper got out of the car, Natalia took her hand.

"Juniper, you're here! Come inside, it's so hot out." She said warmly, leading Juniper inside.

Simon thought, 'Am I not afraid of the heat?'

"Sorry, I worked late last night, woke up late this morning, and then spent time picking out clothes and doing my makeup. Sorry for the delay."

As soon as Simon stepped inside, he heard Juniper sweet-talking his mom, sounding much more pleasant than when she was being mean to him.

So, she was doing it on purpose!

Natalia immediately looked at her with concern. "It's no big deal. But staying up late isn't good; you need to replenish yourself. The kitchen has some nourishing soup. Lila!"

"Yes, Mrs. Miller, what is it?"

"Go get Juniper a bowl of the nourishing soup. Also, book us a home service for an essential oil spa and an anti-aging treatment for around 3 PM. Is that okay with you, Juniper?"

"No problem at all."

Of course, it was fine. She hadn't been to a beauty salon in a while and didn't expect a home service.

These seasoned socialites really knew how to enjoy life.

She felt she was benefiting from their lifestyle.

Even Simon seemed more agreeable. Juniper thought, 'Well, not a bad partner after all.'

Lunch was at home.

The long table was filled to the brim, and Simon's father, Grant Miller, even took time off from the company to join them.

They really gave Juniper a lot of face.

After lunch, Natalia pulled her into a room and handed her a box with a smile. "Juniper, open it."

Juniper obediently opened the lid and gasped in surprise.

Even though she had seen many good things growing up, the bracelet in the box still amazed her.

This bracelet was probably very precious.

"This is..." Juniper paused.

"A gift for you. I went to an auction with a friend recently. As soon as this bracelet came up, I knew I had to get it for my future daughter-in-law as a welcome gift."

Natalia continued, "I thought it would be a long wait, but he moved quickly. Now it has a purpose."

Juniper thought, 'So, it is indeed very precious. It must have cost millions of dollars.

"No, no, I can't accept this." Juniper immediately tried to push it back.

If she were Simon's real girlfriend, she would accept an even more expensive bracelet, but the problem was—she wasn't!

She was just a fake, accepting such an expensive bracelet from Natalia felt wrong.

"It's just a bracelet, nothing significant. Don't worry, there's not pressure or to get you and Simon married. I just wanted to give you a gift."

As Natalia spoke, she took the bracelet out of the box and put it on Juniper's wrist herself. "The size is perfect, and it suits your skin tone."

When the two came out of the room, Simon was sitting on the couch, grinning, "What did you need to talk about behind closed doors for so long?"

"Alright, you just don't like me taking up your girlfriend's time. Here, she's all yours now." Natalia laughed, pushing Juniper towards him.

"Mom, don't do me wrong. I didn't mean that." Simon lifted his chin.

In the afternoon, Juniper enjoyed a comfortable spa treatment, feeling it was even better than the techniques at any beauty salon.

She went downstairs to get a glass of water.

Her phone rang midway, and she walked to the living room window with the glass in hand to answer it.

"Hello?"

"Ms. Russell, do you remember me? I'm Alvin."

Juniper squinted slightly, recalling the memory from that night at the hotel. She smiled. "Of course, I remember. What's up?"

"After that night, you never called me. I thought you had forgotten about me."

Alvin sounded pitiful, making Juniper's heart soften. "You didn't leave me your number."

"I did, on the nightstand."

Really?

She had glanced at the nightstand when she left and didn't see any note.

"Doesn't matter, you're calling now, aren't you?"

Alvin sounded even more pitiful. "I've been staring at my phone every day, torn and anxious. It took a lot of courage to make this call."

Juniper's smile grew brighter. "What should I do? Hearing you say that makes me feel a bit sorry for you."

"Really?"

"Really." She said without hesitation.

Alvin hesitated, "When can we meet again?"

Juniper thought for a moment. "Tomorrow—" night.

A noise interrupted her.

She instinctively turned around and saw Simon standing behind her with a dark expression. She didn't know when he had arrived or how much he had heard.

Juniper's eyes flickered, feeling guilty for the first time.

Unlike the last time at the hotel, this was at the Miller Mansion, under the watchful eyes of the elders.

She should be more restrained.

"Simon, I..."

Simon stepped forward, wrapped his arm around her waist, and pulled her close.

Their eyes met, and their breaths mingled.

Juniper frowned, about to lose her temper. "You!"

"Look up." Simon lowered his voice.

Juniper looked up and was stunned.

Natalia and the housekeeper, Lila, were standing on the second floor, chatting while watching them.
