Chapter 141 Once Escaped, Why Re-enter the Game

"Every time we messed up, my dad and I would think about what went wrong and find an even sneakier spot. But no matter what, my mom, like she had some kind of radar, would always find us, no matter how good our hiding place was..."

Camilla noticed Sebastian had been quiet for a bit. "Sebastian, are you listening?"

She turned and accidentally locked eyes with his intense gaze.

Camilla froze.

Her hair had grown past her shoulders, and during dinner, her hair tie had come loose. Now, the night breeze was making her hair dance wildly.

At that moment, she looked unexpectedly enchanting.

"Yeah, I'm listening," Sebastian's voice was a bit rough. "Your mom's really sharp."

Camilla looked away, her throat dry. She swallowed and continued after a moment, "Of course, she writes suspense novels!"

Suspense novels were all about logical reasoning.

If Alistair taught Camilla about integrity and unity of knowledge and action, then Bella shaped her entire character, allowing Camilla to grow into the person she most wanted to be.

"And you? What was your childhood like?"

Sebastian thought for a moment. "Reading, studying, exams."

"That's it?"

"There might have been other things, but I can't remember."

Maybe it was the soft streetlights tonight, or maybe it was Camilla's bright eyes, but Sebastian felt like opening up as he looked at the neon signs across the river.

"I think I was five when I stumbled upon a book about physics in my grandpa's study—'The Secrets of How Things Work.' That was my first taste of physics. I didn't even know what 'physics' meant, but I found it fascinating."

Sebastian smiled faintly, his eyes sincere and passionate. "The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible."

Camilla listened closely. She didn't get physics, but she could feel Sebastian's passion.

"Before I found physics, my world was dull and boring."

Sebastian paused and turned to look at Camilla. "After discovering physics, the world took on a whole new meaning for me."

And now, meeting Camilla seemed to make his world brighter and more interesting.

Sebastian's gaze was intense and burning.

Camilla was the first to look away.

The unfinished ice cream was melting in the heat, and when the cold dripped onto her hand, Camilla stood up in a panic. "It's getting late, let's head back."

Camilla turned away, and Sebastian couldn't see her face, but he could sense her emotional turmoil.

He felt like he was acting a bit off today too. "Alright, let's go."

That night, Camilla had a rare bout of insomnia.

She lay with her eyes closed, her mind drifting between sleep and wakefulness, flashing between images of Sebastian's face and memories of her past with Leopold.

Thinking about the foolish things she had done and said for a man in the past, she suddenly became wide awake!

Had she not suffered enough from love?

Having escaped once, why get involved again?

No need, and not worth it.

Understanding this, Camilla's anxious heart quickly calmed down. Since she couldn't sleep, she decided to get up and work on her thesis.

Studying made her happier.

The next day at the lab, Camilla had just swiped her card to enter when she was met with the eager gazes of Betty and Hector.

She paused and thought, 'What's going on?'

"Betty, Hector, why are you looking at me like that? Is there a problem?"

Betty and Hector had been waiting for her to ask that! "Camilla, can we ask you a favor?"

"What is it?"

Betty said, "I have two sets of data that are super complex. It's not just hard to calculate; it's even tough to organize. You're great at programming, can you help us find a permanent solution?"

Hector quickly added, "We don't know how to program. At most, we can use traditional quick calculation methods, but the amount of data this time is too huge. The human brain can't compete with a computer, so can you write a program to batch process this data?"

Half an hour later.

"Betty, take a look at this calculation path and speed. Is there anything that needs adjusting?"

Camilla stepped aside, and Betty sat down to check with the mouse.

What would have taken five days to calculate could now be done in a day at this speed!

"This is amazing! Thank you, Camilla, I love you!" Betty hadn't had high hopes!

Camilla waved her hand. "You're welcome, it was no trouble."

Hector quickly came over, "Let me try."

After class, Sebastian came to the lab as usual, only to find Camilla sitting uncomfortably in a chair, or more accurately, being held down in a chair!

Betty was massaging her shoulders, and Hector was handing her a freshly bought coffee.

Betty said, "Camilla, thank you. Let me massage your shoulders. Even my husband doesn't get this treatment."

Hector said, "Camilla, have some coffee. It's low sugar and no ice, guaranteed to be healthy!"

Sebastian was puzzled.

Since when did his team become so fawning over Camilla?

Just then, Doris walked in and saw Betty and Hector fawning over Camilla. She couldn't help but roll her eyes.

Darren followed a few steps behind, carrying breakfast. "Doris, I got your favorite waffles and pumpkin porridge. It's still hot, eat it while it's warm."

Doris looked displeased. "Who told you I like pumpkin porridge?"

Darren scratched his head. "Didn't you say last time that the pumpkin porridge from that place was really good? I thought you liked it."

"That was last time. I don't like it now."

"Oh, okay. I'll get something else next time."

Darren quickly agreed. He could sense that Doris was in a bad mood and taking it out on him.

He didn't know what he had done wrong, but he figured it was normal for Doris to have a temper. He would just pamper her.

After dropping out of school, Amara focused on the prenatal classes Elodie had arranged for her.

But that wasn't enough. Seeing that Amara had plenty of free time, Elodie filled all her spare time.

For example, they were about to head to a fashion styling class.

The class was held in a mall, and the teacher was said to be a famous designer.

So, Amara went with some interest.

However, after fifteen minutes, she was bored and yawning.

If it were someone else, they might have pretended not to notice. After all, they had already been paid, and how much the student learned was their own business.

But this teacher was different.

She couldn't stand students like Amara who weren't serious. Her gaze turned sharp.
