Chapter 290 He Will Definitely Help Cover Up the Lie
Camilla retorted, "Fighting and causing trouble are two different things. Yeah, we fought, but only because you started it. The academy might favor Calliope, but the administration is a different story."
"Standard procedure says they gotta figure out what happened before they decide on consequences. If you go to the admin office and say you got beat up, they're gonna ask why. What are you gonna say?"
"Are you gonna admit you broke the rules, bullied others, and used nasty language, so you got what was coming to you?"
"Or will you say you kicked someone when they were down, ganged up to mock others, and were so awful that you got beat up?"
"Any of those reasons are enough to show you were causing trouble! If we're getting expelled, then let's all get expelled together."
Camilla finished with a grin.
The others were speechless.
Could it really go down like this?
What was crazier was that Camilla seemed pretty pleased about it?
Hestia immediately nodded. "Sure, getting expelled sounds great. If I get expelled, I'll just go home and take over the family business."
Royce agreed, "If I get expelled, I'll go back and take the civil service exam."
Noe, Bronte, and Clara were stunned.
Irvin scratched his head and instinctively looked at Ignatius, only to see him smiling. He blinked, thinking he was seeing things, but Ignatius was smiling even more.
Camilla continued, "Aren't we going to the admin office? Let's go together, so they don't have to call us in one by one later. It's less hassle."
With that, she started heading downstairs.
Hestia and Royce followed closely behind.
"Why aren't you coming? Hurry up, the admin office staff will be on lunch break soon," Camilla said.
Noe and Clara, who had been beaten, looked at each other.
Bronte was already confused.
Weren't they the ones who did the beating? Why were they acting so self-righteous?
There had to be a trap! Noe stammered, "What makes you say we started it? Do you have any proof? I could say you hit us first!"
Camilla seemed to have anticipated this, smiled slightly, and pointed up. "There's surveillance."
Noe was stunned.
When did the lab get surveillance installed?
Hestia explained, "We installed it ourselves, just to guard against people like you."
Noe fell silent.
Camilla smirked. "Once the footage is played, everything will become clear instantly. We won't even need to explain. It's perfect."
Noe swallowed. "I just remembered I have something to do! I'll let you off today! Next time you see me, remember to take a detour!"
After saying that, he quickly ran away.
Camilla looked at Clara. "What about you? Coming with us?"
"I have something to do too!" With that, she turned and left.
Bronte shouted, "Why are you all leaving? You're all cowards!"
After cursing, he left too.
After packing up, the three of them took one last look at the lab.
They were still reluctant to leave, but they had no choice.
"Camilla, which professor did you give the key to?" Hestia asked.
"I haven't given it to anyone yet. It's still with me."
Hestia's eyes widened. "What if they ask about it.?"
"I'll say I gave it to Sebastian."
He would definitely cover for her.
There was a tone of reliance and trust in her voice that even Camilla herself hadn't noticed.
Camilla said, "You guys have already handed in your keys. I absolutely can't give mine."
"Why?"
"If we give up the key, how will we move the CPRT? Break in?"
Hestia's eyes widened. "Can we move this CPRT?"
"Of course. We bought it ourselves, why can't we?" Camilla said.
"Exactly! We bought it ourselves, we can move it if we want," Royce echoed.
"So the key has to stay with us, otherwise it will be inconvenient when we take action," Camilla continued.
Royce smirked. "Calliope tried so hard to get rid of us, probably for this machine. Now her plan is going to fail!"
The three of them packed up and left.
It wasn't much, just a box each.
Hestia's was the largest, filled with snacks.
As they passed by the sports field, a soccer ball flew towards her, and to avoid it, Hestia threw the box.
Luckily, the ball just grazed her arm and flew past.
But the contents of the box scattered all over the ground.
Camilla and Royce immediately put down their boxes to help her pick up the items.
However, someone was faster.
Ignatius picked up the snacks from the ground, put them back in the box, and handed it to Hestia.
"Thanks." Hestia was a bit confused.
Were they on good terms?
Why did he suddenly help her pick up things?
Seeing Ignatius, Camilla and Royce exchanged a glance.
She smiled and stepped forward. "Thanks, Ignatius."
He smiled. "No need to be so guarded. I didn't come to speak on their behalf."
Camilla raised an eyebrow. "Then why?"
Ignatius was silent for a few seconds. "Whether you believe it or not, I want to say that when you first applied for the lab, I didn't intentionally take up more space. This time, I didn't come with them to mock you."
This didn't surprise Camilla.
During the initial confrontation, Ignatius's surprise didn't seem faked.
And this time, Ignatius just followed Noe and the others and stood aside the whole time, not participating.
He even spoke up at a critical moment, saying Clara deserved to be hit.
Camilla's intuition told her that Ignatius wasn't bad.
But she didn't fully trust him either. After thinking for a moment, she said, "There's no point in dwelling on the past. Let's just focus on the present."
"That's true." Ignatius nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping over the other two boxes on the ground. "Are you planning to give up that lab?"
Camilla felt uneasy but didn't show it. "Why do you say that?"
"This fire safety inspection clearly has issues. I heard you went to see Otis, but then nothing happened. That's not like you."
"What do you mean by that?"
"At least you should stand your ground. Just like when you slapped Clara and Noe earlier, that's the kind of attitude you should have—never backing down."
Ignatius felt something was off. How could they just pack up and leave?
"Did you..." he paused, "already come up with a solution?"
