Chapter 327 What Does She Have to Feel Guilty About?

Hestia blinked as she watched the scene unfold, not daring to make a sound.

Camilla's gaze shifted between the two men.

Marcus stood with a smile playing on his lips—casual in appearance but commanding in presence, his offer impossible to refuse.

Sebastian, by contrast, radiated calm. His gentle eyes conveyed understanding and encouragement to Camilla—like a harbor offering shelter from a storm.

Both men awaited her answer.

Camilla sighed inwardly, feeling caught between them.

Suddenly, something caught her peripheral vision. She rose and walked to the water dispenser, retrieving a mug from the cabinet above.

"I think I'd prefer some water," she said.

Sebastian and Marcus locked eyes briefly before looking away.

Marcus smiled nonchalantly. "You've had a busy morning. Get some rest. I need to head back to the office."

He wasn't actually free to linger—countless decisions awaited his attention at the company. Taking even this morning off had been stretching his limits.

"I'll walk you out," Camilla offered.

Marcus smiled, his entire expression brightening with pleasure. "I'd like that."

As they left, he shot Sebastian a triumphant glance.

Camilla accompanied Marcus to his car and thanked him sincerely once more.

Marcus detected the subtle apology in her tone and smiled faintly. "Everything I've done has been my choice. There's no need to be so formal. We're friends, after all."

Camilla hesitated but said nothing more.

As she watched Marcus drive away and turned around, she found Sebastian waiting under the portico.

With his tall, straight posture, Sebastian stood watching her with a steady gaze, clearly having waited for her to turn around.

For some inexplicable reason, Camilla felt a twinge of guilt.

'But why should I feel guilty?' she wondered.

Before she could analyze this unexpected emotion, Sebastian approached her. "The lab has just opened, and it's already drawing significant attention. Every move you make will be scrutinized. At this stage, even the slightest misstep could create problems..."

He paused, noticing Camilla's slightly bewildered expression, and wondered if his tone had been too severe.

As he considered how to lighten the atmosphere, Camilla recovered her composure. She nodded earnestly and said, "Thank you for the warning. I understand completely. Everything has two sides—having my own lab might seem glamorous, but it's like walking a tightrope."

Sebastian listened to her words and couldn't help smiling.

How could he have thought she was intimidated by his seriousness?

Clearly, Camilla was more clear-headed and forward-thinking than he'd imagined.

His tone softened naturally. "Your abilities are beyond question. But I want you to know that if you ever face difficulties, you can always turn to me or Aurora. You don't have to shoulder everything alone. We'll always be here to support you."

Camilla felt something stir within her, her gaze momentarily trembling.

She lowered her eyes and murmured her acknowledgment.

Meanwhile, Leopold and Azalea had already departed with the other guests.

In their car, the driver gripped the steering wheel nervously, even his breathing cautious.

The two passengers in the back seat weren't speaking, creating an almost eerie silence.

Azalea looked up at Leopold.

Since entering the car, he had been facing the window, silent and expressionless.

Azalea smiled gently, her melodious voice breaking the silence with perfect timing, "Camilla is truly remarkable, finding solutions even in such challenging circumstances. No wonder Aurora values her so highly."

These weren't empty words—Azalea genuinely admired her.

How many people would have Camilla's courage to establish their own laboratory?

In her position, Azalea certainly couldn't have done it.

Leopold remained silent, but his slightly upturned eyes revealed that he appreciated hearing this praise.

He even seemed to share in the pride.

Azalea continued casually, "Half the scientific community's elite showed up today. I had no idea Camilla's network was so extensive. And the way she spoke confidently before all those luminaries, completely in her element—if it were me, I'd have been terribly nervous."
