Chapter 56 I Was Wondering Who Was Kissing Me

Camilla tilted her head, trying to picture it, but her imagination was kinda weak. Still, after hearing the coach out, she felt a bit less jittery.

By the afternoon, when it warmed up a bit, they were ready to hit the water.

There were two types of wetsuits: two-piece and one-piece. They could pick whatever they liked. Naturally, Juniper went for a sexy two-piece, while Camilla chose a more modest one-piece.

Even so, when they strutted out of the changing room, they turned heads and even got a few whistles.

Before diving in, the coach had them acclimate to the water temp first. "Once you're in, don't freak out. I'll guide you to the diving spot."

"Our rescue team is nearby. If anything goes south, just signal, and they'll be there in a flash."

"Got it." Camilla looked ahead, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Alright, ladies, welcome to the underwater world. Enjoy yourselves."

Camilla caught his infectious smile and couldn't help but grin back.

But when it was time to dive with the oxygen tank strapped on, she felt a bit anxious.

Juniper squeezed her hand, gave a thumbs-up, signaling that everything would be cool with her around.

Camilla took a deep breath, watched Juniper dive in without a care, and followed suit.

As she sank, the light started to blur, and she felt way heavier than on land.

Juniper sank faster, and the water pressure almost made her lose sight of her.

Then, the coach signaled that they were 150 feet down.

Camilla exhaled slowly, trying to soak in her surroundings.

Schools of fish darted past, weaving around her.

A see-through jellyfish floated by, opening and closing like a tiny umbrella.

Camilla flicked the water, and the jellyfish curled up into a ball, shrinking to the size of a fist before vanishing.

She found it funny, and her nerves melted away as she started to explore.

Juniper was having a blast. When she glanced back, she saw Camilla stopping to check out the fish, her eyes gleaming as she tried to catch them, only to watch them slip away.

Juniper raised an eyebrow, swam over, grabbed Camilla's hand, and led her in another direction.

Soon, Camilla spotted a vibrant coral reef in the murky water, like a small mountain in the deep blue.

The reef, made of rocks, was bursting with colors and seemed endless.

Tropical fish, whose names she couldn't remember, swam around like they were in paradise.

The breathtaking view felt like another world, and she finally got what the coach meant about the underwater beauty.

She followed the fish through a round hole in the coral, chasing a starfish. Suddenly, a big shadow loomed above, blocking the light.

Camilla looked up and saw a shark right above her.

She gasped in shock.

The diving area was also divided into safe and dangerous zones. Before entering the water, the instructor confidently stated that the area they were in was absolutely safe and that no large creatures would appear.

Panicking, she looked around but couldn't spot Juniper or the coach.

Seeing the shark about to notice her, Camilla knew she had to book it, or she'd be shark chow!

With that thought, she turned and swam like her life depended on it—because it did.

The fish around her sensed her panic and scattered. She gritted her teeth, glanced back, and saw the shark gaining on her.

Camilla scanned the area and saw only coral reefs, but there was a black hole not far away where she could hide.

With that in mind, she changed direction and swam downward.

She could almost feel the shark's presence getting closer. Without daring to look back, she finally slipped into the hole just in time.

The shark's massive body crashed into the coral reef, causing it to shake.

The impact bent Camilla's arm backward, sending a wave of pain through her.

She tried to move her arm and was relieved to find it still functional. She planned to wait for the shark to leave before swimming up.

However, within minutes, she felt the oxygen getting thinner.

Something was wrong!

Before getting into the water, the coach had said that one oxygen tank could last at least three hours. How could it be running out so soon?

The oxygen was depleting faster and faster, but the shark hadn't left yet.

Cold sweat began to form on Camilla's forehead. Finally, just as she was about to lose consciousness, the shark swam away.

With the oxygen tank on her back, she used all her strength to ascend, signaling for help as she went.

She also pressed the rescue button she carried with her to notify the lifeguards immediately.

However, there was no response to any of her signals.

Camilla couldn't afford to delay and swam upward desperately. If the oxygen in the tank ran out, her life would be over!

She didn't know how long she had been swimming, but her movements became slower and slower. As the feeling of suffocation approached, her limbs grew weak, and her body began to sink uncontrollably.

Her eyelids grew heavier. She looked at the surface of the water, so close, just a little more effort, and she could live.

But she couldn't hold on any longer.

Tears welled up in Camilla's eyes. Just as she was about to give up, a familiar face appeared, getting closer, and reached out to her.

"Camilla!"

"Camilla, wake up!"

Juniper dragged her onto the boat, quickly removed her oxygen tank, and unzipped her wetsuit.

The long-lost air filled her lungs, and Camilla began to greedily take deep breaths.

However, the next second, her lungs felt like they were being pricked by needles, and she couldn't help but cough violently.

With each cough, she spat out a few mouthfuls of water.

As the feeling of suffocation subsided, Camilla finally felt like she was alive again.

"You scared me to death! I thought you wouldn't wake up!" Juniper cried, hitting her while wiping away tears.

Camilla was stunned for a moment, her voice hoarse, "I'm fine."

"When I saw your rescue signal in the water, I knew something had happened to you. It took me a long time to find you. When I saw you, you were already unconscious. My mind went blank, and I was terrified."

At this point, Juniper patted her chest in fear.

She couldn't imagine what would have happened if she had been a second later.

Fortunately, Camilla was safe. Thinking of this, Juniper couldn't help but hug her and sob. "When I was giving you CPR, I was so scared that you wouldn't wake up."

Camilla coughed twice and laughed. "I was wondering who was kissing me. Turns out it was you."

"Come on!" Juniper scolded, "You're still joking!"
