Chapter 118 He Couldn't Help it

Doris's face twisted a bit, and she snapped, "Camilla, what the heck are you talking about? I've logged every single report from our group into the system. Not one is missing!"

"If you don't believe me, check the entry list. Sure, most of the data got wiped out because of the computer glitch, but that record is still there!"

Doris emphasized each word, "Don't you dare accuse me of anything!"

Camilla stayed cool, "Oh, you didn't lose it because before I tossed it in the trash, I skimmed through it and saw the date was the same day, so I put it back."

Doris was fuming. "Then what gives you the right to say I lost the report? You saw it on the ground, picked it up, and put it back. It's all your word against mine!"

Camilla shrugged. "First off, I was just saying I saw a report on the ground, picked it up, and put it back. I didn't say who lost it, and no one else did either. No need to get so defensive."

"You didn't say it outright, but you sure implied it!"

"Secondly," Camilla raised her voice a bit, "if you think I'm making stuff up, fine. You can find that experimental report and see if there are footprints on the cover page."

Doris sneered, lifting her chin slightly. "Don't you know that the paper reports are shredded and destroyed after being entered?"

Camilla replied, "Doesn't matter. The lab has surveillance. Pull up the footage from 11:00-12:00 the day before yesterday, and you'll know if I'm lying."

At this point, Doris started to panic.

The day before yesterday, she did see a report with footprints on the cover on her desk.

At that time, she had just finished entering the data and was glad she found the missing report in time, so she quickly re-entered it.

Darren could tell from Doris's expression that Camilla wasn't lying.

He quickly stepped in to mediate, "Come on, let's not get hung up on this. We're all on the same team here, and some things just aren't worth arguing about."

"Besides, weren't we discussing how to recover the last part of the lost data? Let's skip the report issue for now and solve the most urgent problem, right?"

"Camilla just mentioned that the AI function requires keyword searches, right? And the keyword volume is quite large, about one-tenth. This..."

Darren trailed off.

He thought, 'Who could remember that much? It's not like we're supercomputers.'

Sebastian, however, looked directly at Camilla. "You said you looked at the report when you picked it up?"

"Yes." Camilla nodded.

"How much do you remember?"

"All of it."

Everyone gasped.

Sebastian remained very calm, "The data on this report can be used as keywords for AI cloud retrieval, is that what you mean?"

"Yes."

"Alright," Sebastian opened his computer, "You speak, I'll take notes."

Camilla said, "Thickness, specification value 25.0-26.0, test method..."

"MD tear resistance, specification value 165.1314362, test method..."

Hector and Betty exchanged glances.

They thought, 'Is she really reciting it?'

Darren was confused then completely shocked, and finally, he was left with deep admiration and awe.

He thought, 'What kind of memory is this?

'It's unbelievable!'

Camilla talked for almost 20 minutes straight, and Sebastian managed to jot down 1,192 data points at the same time.

Then he dumped all that info into the AI cloud, hit enter, and started the precise search.

In less than ten seconds, a ton of related data popped up on the screen.

Betty yelled to the tech guy, "Hey, come check this out! Is this it?"

The tech guy rushed over, fiddled with the computer for a bit, and said, "Yeah, some data is coming back, but I'm not sure if it's what you need. Someone should verify."

Doris immediately stepped up to the computer, and the tech guy gave her the seat.

As time ticked by, Betty got anxious seeing Doris stay silent. "Say something, how much data did we get back?"

"Almost all of it." Doris bit her lip, but she didn't look too thrilled.

Betty, not satisfied with Doris's vague answer, checked herself and finally felt relieved. "Thank God! We've recovered 99%!"

She hugged Camilla, "Thanks to you, otherwise we'd be crying our eyes out! This data would've taken at least half a month of overtime to redo."

"No wonder you're a student at Harmony College, your brain works fast." Even the tech guy fixing the computer slapped his thigh and praised her.

Hector nodded, his eyes full of admiration and gratitude, "Yeah, yeah, it's all thanks to Camilla this time!"

Hector then sighed with a bit of teasing, "No wonder Sebastian had the foresight to secure such a talent in advance, truly impressive!"

Hector's words were serious, but his eyes had a deeper meaning.

Sebastian's expression didn't change, as if he hadn't caught the underlying meaning, but his hand at his side unconsciously clenched into a fist.

The next second, realizing he was affected, Sebastian took a deep breath and then deliberately relaxed his hand.

He could hide his feelings, but he couldn't help it.

Darren stared at Camilla like she was some kind of alien.

Especially her head, he was super interested in it.

Only Doris looked at Camilla with cold, deep eyes, like two bottomless black holes.

Betty, seeing Camilla's speechless look, glanced at Sebastian's obviously helpless face, Darren's curious gaze towards Doris, and Doris's clear hostility.

It seemed the days ahead wouldn't be boring.

The lab computer virus incident could be a big deal or a small one.

It could be a simpleaccident or theft and espionage.

Sebastian said, "We must find the source."

The tech guy replied, "Don't worry, the school will have us investigate."

From the start to the recovery of all data, it took the whole day. By the time all the details were handled, it was dark.

Issue resolved, everyone went home.

Sebastian had to stay in the lab for follow-up, so Camilla went home alone.

Luckily, it was close, just a few minutes' walk.

As soon as she got in, she threw herself onto the couch, lay flat, stretched, and let out a comfortable sigh.

Her phone rang.

Camilla barely opened her eyes and unlocked it to check.

It was a message from Sebastian: [Thanks for today, the source of the virus has been identified.]

Camilla turned over, sat up abruptly, and typed a reply: [So fast?]
