Chapter 173 Get Yourself A Doctor If You're Sick
Camilla was very calm now.
She no longer thought of Leopold at the drop of a hat, easily swayed by her emotions.
Time was a good healer.
Even the deepest wounds could be healed.
Camilla had moved on a long time ago.
And the pain Leopold once caused her has faded with time, until it was finally forgotten.
"Do you need something from me?" Camilla asked.
"Can we talk somewhere else?"
Camilla replied, "I don't think there's anything for us to talk about."
Leopold felt a bit defeated.
He glanced subtly at Sebastian, and anyone with a bit of sense would know to step aside at this moment.
But Sebastian remained motionless, indifferent to Leopold's silent cues.
Leopold was helpless.
Given Leopold's history of erratic behavior, Camilla didn't dare to be alone with him.
"If there's nothing else, we'll be leaving." She looked at Sebastian.
Sebastian nodded slightly.
"You are with him now? Then what am I?" Leopold's jaw tightened, and his eyes gradually turned red.
A violent look surged up but was quickly suppressed.
He softened his tone, looking into Camilla's eyes. "I came to tell you that I don't accept that 'congratulations' from the other day."
He recalled Camilla's words: I heard you're going to be a dad, congratulations.
Camilla frowned, not understanding what he meant.
"If you don't forgive me, then I will never be a father in this lifetime. Because only you can have my child."
Camilla and Sebastian were both speechless.
What kind of confusing statement was that?!
Camilla said, "You should go to the hospital."
Leopold was puzzled.
"Get yourself a doctor if you're sick."
With that, she signaled Sebastian to leave quickly.
Not a second more could be spent there.
It wasn't until they entered the apartment building that she let out a long breath. "Sorry, Sebastian, for making you witness that again."
For the first time, Camilla felt embarrassed to have such a crazy ex.
How could Leopold say something like that?
Sebastian was silent for a moment before slowly saying, "You suffered a lot before."
Back home, Camilla took a shower and changed into clean clothes.
Standing on the balcony, she looked downstairs to confirm that Leopold was no longer there, then grabbed her shopping bag and set out to buy groceries.
She was going to cook lunch for Sebastian, and there wasn't enough food at home. At this time, she could still buy fresh ingredients.
"Sebastian!" Camilla walked to the alley and saw a familiar figure.
She was surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Sebastian seemed to have just showered and changed clothes too, but his hair was still slightly damp.
"Aren't you going to buy groceries? Let's go together."
Camilla was stunned, then suddenly realized he was probably worried that Leopold would come back to bother her, so he waited here.
"Thank you."
Sebastian didn't respond, just smiled and said, "Let's go."
"Okay."
At ten in the morning, the two returned home with the groceries.
The sea bass was cleaned by the vendor, but Camilla wasn't reassured and washed it several more times inside and out.
She planned to make the shrimp with salt and pepper, cleaned them, and set them aside.
With the two main dishes prepared, all that was left was the soup.
Sebastian skillfully rolled up his sleeves, washing, chopping, rinsing, and draining the vegetables with impressive efficiency.
Camilla joked with a smile. "No. Stop. how can I let a guest into the kitchen?"
"The guest says he's happy to help."
With an extra pair of hands, the prep work went much faster.
Once everything was ready, Camilla placed the sea bass on a plate and patted it dry with paper.
Sebastian, with nothing left to do, stood by and watched, "Need any help?"
"Can you get the baking tray for me?"
"Sure."
Sebastian, being tall, could easily reach it, but the tray was stored above Camilla's head.
This meant he had to stand behind her to get it.
Reaching out, it felt like he was enveloping her in his arms.
Fortunately, the action was quick, and even though they were close, it wasn't awkward.
"Hand it to me." Camilla reached out.
Sebastian passed it to her.
In the moment of exchange, their fingers accidentally touched.
Sebastian's breath hitched.
Camilla didn't think much of it, took the steamer rack, placed it in the pot, and started steaming the fish.
"Anything else you need help with?" Sebastian retracted his hand and cleared his throat.
Camilla glanced at the bowls and plates on the counter, "The ingredients are ready, and all the seasonings are in place. You can go out now; I'll handle the rest."
In the old apartment with a small layout, the kitchen was narrow. With Sebastian gone, it instantly felt more spacious.
Camilla wondered if it was her imagination, but the air seemed cooler too.
Twenty minutes later, Camilla turned off the gas, took off her apron, and brought the dishes to the table.
Sebastian hadn't been idle either, having already set the table with heat mats and utensils.
"Isn't there a bowl of soup in the kitchen? I'll get it." Before Camilla could speak, he was already heading to the kitchen.
Sure enough, there was a mushroom soup left to be brought out.
Camilla glanced at Sebastian's back, then turned to the fridge. After some thought, she took out two cans of beer.
Just as she turned around, she met Sebastian's calm gaze.
She felt inexplicably embarrassed. "Juniper came over to hang out the other day, and we bought these together. Do you want one?"
Then Camilla felt strange. Why was she feeling embarrassed?
Seeing her evasive eyes, Sebastian's gaze softened with a hint of a smile. "I have to go to the lab this afternoon, so..."
"Oh. Then I..."
Sebastian looked at her steadily.
Camilla swallowed. "I won't drink either, then?"
"Okay. Come on, let's eat."
Camilla obediently put the beer back.
They sat down, and Camilla took a deep breath, suddenly standing up and looking at Sebastian with a serious tone, "Sebastian, thank you for your help and care during this time. If it weren't for you lending me the lab, I might still be lost in self-doubt, unable to take that step. I'll toast you with soup."
Camilla had wanted to use the beer for this moment.
But since Sebastian wasn't drinking, she had to use soup instead.
"I just lent you a place. All the experiments and data were done by you."
Sebastian didn't take credit. He had seen Camilla's hard work and had merely given her a hand.
He made it sound simple, but Camilla knew that a lab was a very private place with many important data and confidential files.
Sebastian truly trusted her to allow her free access.
