Chapter 91 Camilla's Success Thrilled Leopold
"Dumping my brother? Big mistake. You're nothing without him!" Clara smirked, "Don't get too confident. Nailing the written test doesn't mean a thing. Let's see who comes out on top in the end!"
With that, she stood tall and confidently walked away.
Camilla stayed cool, just turned away and flagged down a cab.
Juniper was fuming. "Why didn't you roast her? How could you let her walk away like that?!"
"Wait, I'm just so livid. Is Clara still at Harmony College? I'm heading over there to set her straight." Juniper expressed.
Camilla laughed. "Chill out. It's just some harmless trash talk. I've heard it all before."
She casually cut her steak and took a bite. Perfectly tender, the creamy flavor and juicy meat hit the spot. As tasty as ever.
Juniper was baffled. "How do you stay so calm?"
Camilla burst out laughing. After a moment, she put down her knife and fork, wiped her mouth with a napkin, and said, "Ever heard this saying?"
"What saying?"
"The ultimate insult isn't a slap or a clever retort, but this: You brush off what she values, effortlessly attain what she desires," Camilla sated.
For Clara, besides her parents, nothing mattered more than her exam results. Camilla continued, "I'm definitely passing this re-exam. Whether she does is another story."
Someone who tried to bribe teachers before the exam had already lost the game.
Juniper suddenly got it and gave a silent thumbs up. "You're brilliant!"
They ran in the same circles, and Juniper knew Clara's level well. In this situation, Clara would need a miracle to pass the exam.
Maybe luck was on Camilla's side. When the re-exam results came out, Camilla was first in both the written and oral exams and got into Harmony College.
Clara ranked fourth, just missing the cut. She was only one point behind third place.
At the Wipere family mansion, the sound of things being smashed echoed from upstairs.
After seeing her results, Clara locked herself in her room and trashed everything, even her favorite bags.
Screams, roars, crying, and laughing—she sounded like a madwoman.
The servants tiptoed around, scared they'd become her next target.
Leopold pushed the door open and saw the chaos, barely a spot to step. His head throbbed.
"It's been the whole morning. Are you done yet? So you didn't pass. Just retake the exam next year." he scolded.
Clara's eyes were red with anger, and she seemed to fixate on a target as she yelled, "I'm already feeling this awful, can't I blow off some steam? This house isn't just yours. If you can't handle it, then get out!"
Leopold closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Clara, if you want to act like this, fine, but do it outside. You're driving everyone nuts!"
Under his cold, dark stare, Clara suddenly felt a wave of grievance. "I'm not leaving! Why should I leave!"
"If it weren't for Camilla, I wouldn't have failed! It's all her fault! And you, why couldn't you just let her be a housewife? Why did she have to take the exam? It's your fault too!"
Her unreasonable behavior gave Leopold a massive headache.
When Clara mentioned Camilla, Leopold's whole body tensed up.
Since coming back from Reefhaven Isles, he'd been blowing up her phone with messages from different numbers, but nothing. He even showed up at her place over and over.
The frustration of not finding her was driving him nuts.
He didn't expect to hear about her from Clara. He inquired, "What did you say? What's Camilla got to do with this?"
Clara shouted, "Everything! She snagged first place! Aurora's only taking three students this year, and I was fourth!"
If it weren't for Camilla, Clara would've moved up a spot. Failing at the last hurdle after coming so far made her furious and bitter.
Leopold was stunned. "Are you saying she got in?"
"Yes! And she crushed it! Happy now? Camilla's killing it without you. She got into grad school and will soon be a grad student at Harmony College! Regret it now? Why didn't you keep her in check back then? Now she's out to ruin my life!" Clara broke down in tears.
She sarcastically remarked, "You kept her locked up for six years. Couldn't you hold on a bit longer? Now she's gone, and she'll only fly further and further away. You'll never get her back."
"Shut up!" Leopold, like a raging beast, glared at her. "If you didn't do well, it means you weren't good enough. Don't blame anyone else! I don't want to hear this again."
The room went dead silent, and Clara was scared stiff by his glare. The tension only broke when Elodie walked in.
Elodie glanced at the mess and frowned. Seeing Clara's cowering look, she felt a bit annoyed.
She'd heard the whole sibling spat from outside. She didn't expect Camilla to actually get into grad school!
When Elodie saw Camilla in the library, she thought she was just sucking up and never imagined she was serious about the exam, let alone that she'd pass!
Elodie couldn't help but sneer silently, 'Harmony College, first place. Big deal. But so what? No matter how well she does in school or how high her degree is, she'll never be allowed into the Wipere family.'
Elodie then turned to Clara. "Your brother's right. If you didn't pass, just take the exam again. What's the point of throwing a tantrum at home? Will it make Camilla fail? How did I end up with such a foolish daughter?"
Clara clenched her fists, full of resentment. "I prepped for this exam for two whole years, and Camilla only studied for six months. How could she pass so easily? Something's fishy! No, I have to find her and get to the bottom of this!"
With that, she stormed out.
Leopold rubbed his temples, not wanting to deal with the mess, and left too.
Elodie also wanted to leave, but she had to clean up. She thought, 'Oh Gosh, they're all here to cause trouble!'
Clara had been to Camilla's place once and still had the address on her phone. She drove straight to Camilla's building.
On the way, her anger grew, and by the time she got out of the car, she was ready to confront her.
But then she saw Camilla walking into the building, shoulder to shoulder, laughing and talking with a man.
Clara gasped. It was Sebastian, one of the interviewers on the re-exam day, a professor at Harmony College.
