Chapter 297 He and His New Girlfriend
When Camilla first spotted Leopold, she was somewhat startled.
This small restaurant near campus was a place they'd frequented only during his pursuit of her. After they'd officially become a couple, Leopold had shown little interest in returning.
But what truly left Camilla wide-eyed with disbelief was the woman in Leopold's arms—it was Azalea!
Judging by their intimate body language, they were clearly a couple.
When did those two get together?
It wasn't that Camilla couldn't move on or was obsessing over her ex's love life—it was simply that, as a normal person, it was hard not to be curious about such juicy gossip!
In this situation, even if it weren't Leopold but anyone else she knew, Camilla would have had the same reaction.
Azalea followed Leopold's gaze and, upon seeing Camilla, immediately flashed a smile and approached with Leopold in tow. "What a coincidence, Camilla! Fancy running into you here."
Camilla was puzzled.
Were she and Azalea that close?
Not wanting to make the situation awkward, Camilla returned a polite smile. "Indeed."
Azalea's smile faltered slightly. "Let me introduce you—this is my boyfriend, Leopold Wipere."
She clung to Leopold's arm affectionately as she continued, "This is my classmate, Camilla Learmond."
Camilla was confused—had she asked who this was? Why was Azalea making introductions?
"Azalea, there are some empty tables inside," Camilla said pointedly.
The implication was clear: Azalea could sit over there instead of hovering by Camilla's table.
Marcus couldn't contain himself and let out a laugh.
From the moment he'd seen Leopold walk in with a woman on his arm, his expression had been one of amused interest.
He'd planned to silently observe the unfolding drama, but Camilla's comment broke his resolve.
"Camilla, give Mr. Wipere and his new girlfriend a break. Why not invite them to join us?" he suggested.
Camilla's lip twitched. "Are you serious?"
They were already at a table meant for two, with a third chair squeezed in to accommodate the three of them.
Now add two more?
Was he kidding?
Did he even think before speaking?
She smiled thinly at Azalea. "I'm sorry, but we don't have room for you here. You'd be better off at one of those tables over there—they're perfect for couples."
Azalea fell silent.
Leopold wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, and said coolly, "Let's go sit over there."
Azalea nodded. "That's fine."
She appeared calm, but Leopold's hand on her waist felt burning hot, making her heart race uncontrollably.
Marcus smirked. "Well, let's get back to our meal. Where were we?"
Tobias reminded him, "Steel reinforcement specifications."
"Right, about those steel reinforcements—different manufacturers, different specifications—there's a lot to consider..."
Camilla listened attentively.
It was as if the couple's appearance hadn't stirred any emotion in her whatsoever.
And indeed, it hadn't made any impact.
Only when they finished eating and went to the counter to pay did Camilla remember the encounter.
There stood Leopold with one arm around Azalea and her white scarf draped over his other arm—the picture-perfect couple that would make anyone envious.
Leopold asked, "Do you have any band-aids?"
Azalea had worn a new pair of high heels that day, which had rubbed her heel raw.
As the cashier fetched the band-aids, Leopold gently tucked a strand of hair behind Azalea's ear and asked, "Does it hurt?"
Azalea froze, her heart skipping a beat. "N...no, it's fine," she stammered.
Leopold chuckled. "It's bleeding, yet you're still putting on a brave face. Don't do this next time. If it hurts, just say so."
"Okay." Azalea gazed into Leopold's loving eyes, wishing desperately that this wasn't just an act.
"Sir, here are the band-aids," the cashier said, holding them out.
Leopold took them and, with everyone watching, knelt down to personally apply the band-aid to Azalea's heel.
Azalea's eyelashes fluttered as she observed his attentiveness, nearly drowning in such tenderness.
However, the moment Leopold turned his back to Camilla, Azalea clearly saw the warmth in his eyes vanish instantly, replaced by an icy coldness.
Azalea snapped back to reality, clenching her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, though she felt no pain.
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to remain composed.
"What a coincidence, running into you again. Are you finished with your meal too?" Azalea asked with a smile.
Camilla responded with a noncommittal murmur.
Tobias took out his wallet to pay.
Leopold also pulled out his phone to make a payment.
Both parties completed their transactions one after the other and then exited the restaurant.
Azalea smiled as she took Leopold's arm, her voice soft, "Could you wait for me a moment? I need to pick up something from the convenience store next door."
"Would you like me to come with you?"
"No need, just wait here for me."
Leopold smiled indulgently. "Alright."
Meanwhile, Marcus and Tobias had gone to retrieve their cars from the nearby parking lot, leaving Camilla waiting outside the restaurant.
At that moment, Leopold suddenly spoke up, "I didn't expect to run into you here."
