Chapter 47 If Leopold Could Do It, Why Couldn't He?

"Seriously?"

Sebastian nodded. "Yep."

Camilla took a deep breath. "Thanks, I feel way better now."

Seeing her chill out, Sebastian relaxed a bit too.

"Feeling hungry? I know a killer spot nearby."

Camilla thought for a sec and nodded.

Sebastian couldn't handle spicy stuff, so he went for something mild.

When the food showed up, it looked bomb.

Camilla was still kinda bummed, but the lively vibe around her lifted her spirits a bit.

The tasty food made Camilla's stomach growl.

Outside, the storm was still going nuts, but inside the restaurant, it was all warm and cozy.

The chatter from all around made Camilla's mood slowly bounce back.

Camilla glanced up and noticed Sebastian hadn't eaten much. His slow munching didn't seem like he was hungry; it felt more like he was just there to keep her company.

Thinking back to the last rainy day when he was there for her in the same low-key way, Camilla felt genuinely grateful.

"Thanks for today," she said. She never thought she'd end up in such a mess. If Sebastian hadn't shown up, she would've been stuck.

"That was a total nightmare."

Even though she tried to brush it off, how could she really not care?'

Then she snapped out of it and met Sebastian's clear eyes, a smile suddenly breaking out on her face. "Lucky you showed up, like a hero."

"Hero's a bit much," Sebastian chuckled.

Camilla looked at his eyes behind the glasses and heard Sebastian's voice again.

"You're way stronger and tougher than you think."

Sebastian wasn't just saying this to cheer her up; he genuinely believed she was already strong.

Camilla was stunned for a sec, then laughed. "Your glasses are all fogged up. Doesn't that mess with your vision?"

Sebastian's glasses were fogged up from the steam, looking kinda funny.

Sebastian helplessly took them off, grabbed a tissue to wipe them, then put them back on.

Sebastian saw her zoning out again, "This dish is good, you should try it."

Camilla said, "Thanks, I'll dig in."

Sebastian had to hit the lab, so he just dropped her off at the entrance.

The rain had stopped, and the road was damp, with a chill in the air. Camilla shivered and instinctively pulled her coat tighter, catching a familiar woody scent.

She looked down at the dark coat she was wearing and couldn't help but laugh.

She remembered that Sebastian was only left with a thin turtleneck sweater. She thought, 'He should be fine, right?'

However, the next day, hearing Sebastian's constant sneezing, Camilla realized that guys aren't that tough against the cold either.

"I sent your coat to the dry cleaners. It should be back in a few days."

Sebastian waved his hand. "No rush."

It was just a coat; he had more in his closet.

"I came back to grab some clothes to change into. I gotta head back to the lab soon."

He spoke with a heavy nasal tone, wearing a mask, clearly battling a bad cold.

"Hold up a sec."

Camilla turned and went inside. When she came back, she was holding a thermos.

"This is ginger tea I made yesterday. Drink it while it's warm."

Sebastian's brow furrowed slightly at the mention of ginger, but Camilla didn't notice. She just reminded him again, "There's also cold meds in the bag. Instructions are on the box."

Sebastian rarely got sick. At her words, he hesitated, feeling an urge to hand the thermos back.

But then he heard Camilla say, "You caught a cold 'cause of me yesterday."

Sebastian's hand, which was about to refuse, retracted.

He glanced at his watch; he was running out of time.

"Thanks, I'll drink the ginger tea and take the meds."

Watching Sebastian stride away, Camilla closed the door and went back inside.

There were still parts of her previous paper that needed more work. She had been digging through various websites for the past few days.

Aurora had given her books and papers, all in German. Her German was only good enough for daily chit-chat, and she needed time to look up the professional terms.

Deep in her research, Camilla's mind was racing, her hands constantly jotting down notes. Just then, her phone rang.

Her train of thought was interrupted, and she felt a bit annoyed but still put down her pen and answered the phone. "Hello."

"About yesterday, I'm really sorry, but there are some things I want to say to you in person."

It was Marcus.

Camilla was silent for a few seconds. She also wanted to clear things up.

They agreed on a time and place, and Camilla ended the call.

Leopold's angry face flashed through her mind. She shook her head, dismissing the thought, and continued reading her papers.

The meeting place was the café they had been to last time.

It wasn't far from Harmony College.

Pushing the door open, Camilla saw Marcus sitting in the same spot as last time.

Marcus had his back to the entrance, but as soon as the doorbell rang, he turned around.

His coat was placed beside him, and he was wearing a Gucci business shirt, the collar slightly open, revealing his Adam's apple and part of his collarbone.

The girls at the next table kept glancing at him.

Ignoring the attention, Camilla sat down across from him. Marcus asked her what she wanted to drink.

Camilla wasn't in the mood for coffee and got straight to the point. "I'm here to finish what we didn't say last time."

Marcus got the hint and smiled, "I meant every word I said."

Camilla frowned. "Then you should know that I don't like you. There's no chance between us."

Marcus shrugged. "I've known for a long time that no one is invincible, and nothing goes smoothly all the time. But as long as the result is good, isn't that what matters?"

He was always determined. Once he set a goal, he wouldn't stop until he achieved it.

He was also very patient. He could wait for Camilla's attitude to soften.

Just like how Leopold had pursued her relentlessly.

Didn't he succeed in the end?

If Leopold could do it, why couldn't he?
