Chapter 274 Regret

A shadow crossed Sebastian's eyes.

Marcus said, "I heard you've been very busy, spending most of your time in the lab. You came back quite early today."

Sebastian said flatly, "Heard from whom?"

He had a class today, specifically one for the Life Sciences Institute, but only saw Hestia and Royce in the classroom. Upon asking, he found out that Camilla had taken leave from the instructor.

The lab was indeed very busy. Usually, after class, he would have a quick lunch at the cafeteria and head straight there, rarely coming home at this hour. But today was an exception.

Marcus smirked. "Of course, I heard it from Camilla."

Sebastian remained expressionless. "Did Camilla also tell you that parking is not allowed at the alley entrance?"

"I'm leaving right away." Marcus grinned and drove off.

Watching the car disappear into the distance, Sebastian withdrew his gaze and turned to go upstairs.

His jaw was a bit tense, and his eyes were cold.

When he reached the seventh floor, he didn't immediately open the door to his home but instead went next door and knocked. "Camilla, are you there?"

After a few seconds, Camilla replied, "Yes, I am."

The door opened, and Sebastian looked her up and down. "Are you okay?"

Sebastian looked her up and down, "Are you okay?"

"What?" Camilla was puzzled.

"I didn't see you in class today. The instructor said you took leave."

"Yes. I had to handle something."

"Is it related to the lab's required rectification?"

"Yes."

"How's it going?"

"Just one last step."

"Do you need my help?"

Camilla shook her head. "No need."

Marcus was right about one thing: unless Leopold was willing, no one could force him to sign.

Sebastian's eyes flickered. "I just ran into Marcus at the alley."

"He gave me a ride back."

"You went together?"

"No," Camilla didn't think much of it, "We just happened to meet. I ran into some trouble, and luckily he was there."

Sebastian's gaze deepened.

"Good to know you're okay. Your dad's beef jerky is really good. Thank him for me."

Camilla smiled. "He'll be very happy to hear that."

"I'm just being honest. His cooking is indeed excellent."

On the other side, after leaving the restaurant, Leopold had John arrange a golf game with Hugo Graves.

John was puzzled. Didn't he cancel the dinner meeting? How did it end so quickly? It seemed like things weren't going very well with Camilla. John sighed, realizing that for the next while, he would have to tread carefully.

Under a clear blue sky with white clouds drifting by and a gentle breeze blowing, Leopold stood on the golf course, gazing into the distance. He then gripped his club, swung, and watched as the ball soared in a perfect arc.

Hugo handed his club to the caddie and clapped. "Nice shot!"

Leopold turned and walked to the rest area, showing no joy at the compliment.

Hugo's eyes flickered. "You don't seem to be in a good mood?"

Leopold took the bottled water handed by the caddie, took a sip, and said nothing.

"Is it because of business?"

Leopold didn't respond.

Hugo understood. "Then it must be about a woman."

Leopold raised an eyebrow. "Why? Do you have any insights?"

"Women play many different roles in our lives. The important thing is how we see and make the most of these relationships."

"You seem to have quite the experience."

"Yeah."

"I'm all ears."

Hugo sat down on the chair next to him and began, "At home, you need a woman to manage the household chores, be filial to the parents, and raise the children. When you need to socialize, you take the young ones outside. They can drink and entertain guests, and a little money afterward can settle everything. It's very cost-effective."

Leopold said curiously, "Your wife has no objections?"

Hugo retorted, "She lives in a big house, carries designer bags, uses high-end cosmetics, and can buy whatever she wants without working. What's there to be dissatisfied with?"

Leopold asked, "What if one day she asks for a divorce..."

"Impossible! Women who have been overly pampered often lose their ability to be self-sufficient, much like birds that can no longer fly due to atrophied wings." Hugo said disdainfully.

"What if they really do leave?"

Hugo was stunned. He had never considered that his wife might leave him.

Leopold stood up and patted his shoulder. "Hugo, sometimes it's best not to speak too confidently." With that, he got into the golf cart, "Enjoy your game. I'm heading back."

Leaving the golf course, Leopold originally planned to drive back to the villa but ended up at the entrance of Harmony College.

This time, he parked across the street, rolled down the window, and lit a cigarette. Through the swirling smoke, he looked at the school gate. It was the same as six years ago.

He first saw Camilla here. One look and his heart was captured. He later confessed his love in this same spot. With roses in hand, he walked towards the girl he cherished. When he embraced Camilla, Leopold felt he had the whole world.

As the company gradually got on track and went public as he had hoped, he found himself with more free time. Drinking and playing cards with Oliver and the others no longer satisfied his curiosity, so he began seeking greater thrills.

Now, when he looked back at all the different women he had been with, he felt only boredom. If he had another chance, he would just want to be with Camilla. But unfortunately, it was already too late.

When he returned to the villa, it was already dark. Mira was still there. "Welcome home."

Leopold responded and walked past her, heading upstairs, but suddenly turned back. "Mira."

Mira, who hadn't managed to leave before Leopold returned, was stunned. "Do you need something?"

"Can I borrow your phone?"

Mira cautiously took her phone out of her bag and handed it over, speaking with concern, "Please don't be angry. Let's talk it out."

Seeing that he was in a bad mood, she was worried he might smash her phone.

Leopold took the phone and directly called Camilla. "Sorry, I might have spoken harshly at noon. Since the land is yours, I won't be so shameless as to take back what I've given."

Camilla frowned.

Leopold continued, "I'll sign. Let's discuss it in detail tomorrow."

"Okay."

"I'm calling you from Mira's phone. It's not very convenient. If possible, could you remove me from the blacklist?"
