Chapter 64 Did Camilla Go on a Date with Him?

When Marcus bailed, he brushed right past Leopold, who was just rolling up for breakfast.

Leopold's face scrunched up.

He gave the room a quick once-over but didn't spot Camilla.

"Hey babe, what you lookin' for?" Amara asked, already knowing the answer.

Leopold turned to her, "You really shouldn't have dragged yourself here with that bum leg."

"Yeah, I could've had room service, but I've been cooped up too long. Needed some fresh air or I'd go nuts." She stuck her tongue out playfully.

Leopold gave a slight nod. "What do you wanna eat?"

"A sandwich and milk, thanks, babe~"

By noon, Leopold had scoped out all four restaurants on the island but still no Camilla.

In the afternoon, he wandered the beach, but she was a no-show.

After dark, he did spot Juniper at one of the island's joints, but still no Camilla.

Weirdly enough, after seeing Marcus in the morning, he hadn't seen him again either.

'Could Camilla be on a date with him?' The thought made Leopold antsy. He stood up, hesitated, and grabbed the shawl hanging on the back of Amara's chair.

It was a generic style everyone had, including Camilla.

He walked over to Juniper. "Camilla left this shawl with me at noon. Can you give it to her?"

Juniper, who was on a date with some hottie, blurted out, "Noon? No way. She already went back."

Then it hit her. "Leopold, are you fishing for info?"

Leopold's eyes narrowed. "Where'd she go back to? Imperial City?"

Juniper rolled her eyes. "Why do you care?"

Leopold nodded. "So she did go back Imperial City."

With the info he needed, he turned and left.

No doubt, if Camilla left, Marcus must've split too.

Juniper kicked herself for talking too fast.

As Leopold walked, he pulled out his phone and called John, "Book me the next flight back home."

John replied, "Got it. Is Ms. Scott going with you?"

Not wanting to mess up again, he figured he'd better ask.

Leopold paused.

"Hey babe, I just heard from the staff there's a cruise leaving the day after tomorrow night, with a captain's dinner. Let's sign up, yeah?" Amara came up and grabbed his arm, "Since I can't head back home right now, why not stick around and have some fun? What do you think?"

Leopold paused again.

John asked, "Hello? Mr. Wipere, you there?"

"Don't book it yet."

"Okay."

Amara looked surprised. "Were you on the phone? Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt."

Leopold waved it off. "No biggie."

Amara grinned, "Good. The doc said my wound's fine, no infection."

Mentioning the wound softened Leopold a bit.

"Let's go on the cruise, okay? I've never been to a captain's dinner." She tugged at his arm, trying to be cute.

Leopold nodded without thinking. "Sure, whatever you want."

"Thanks, babe~"

At 9 PM, the flight touched down right on time at the airport in Imperial City.

As soon as Camilla stepped out of the terminal, that familiar icy wind smacked her right in the face, making her sneeze.

Knowing how different the temps were between here and there, she had pulled out her long down jacket before the plane even landed, wrapping herself up like a burrito.

But man, she still underestimated it.

A freezing rain had hit a couple of days ago, leaving ice hanging off trees and power lines. The drizzle seemed harmless but would turn your clothes into ice blocks real quick.

This road was always buzzing, but in the dead of winter and at this late hour, traffic was a nightmare. No cabs in sight.

Shivering, Camilla pulled out her phone and checked the ride-hailing app. It said the car would be there in five minutes three minutes ago, but now it said half an hour.

She glanced at the map; the driver was stuck in traffic.

Just as she was debating whether to cancel, a car slowly rolled up beside her.

The window slid down, revealing a familiar, gentle face. In a dark gray turtleneck, Sebastian's Adam's apple was half-hidden. From Camilla's angle, his profile seemed to be cast in shadow, adding a touch of warmth to his otherwise cool vibe.

"At this hour, it's tough to get a cab around here. I'm heading home too. Hop in."

She jumped in the car.

Noticing Camilla was freezing, Sebastian cranked the heat up to the max.

Remembering a heating pad in the car's drawer, he pulled it out and handed it to her. "Warm up with this."

Camilla's hands felt like popsicles. With the heating pad and the car's warmth, she gradually thawed out.

"Thanks, I almost thought I'd turn into an ice sculpture at the airport."

She sniffled. Juniper had offered to arrange a driver, but she had declined, not expecting it to be this hard to get a cab.

Sebastian glanced at her, "There's been traffic control lately, so it's tough to get a cab."

Camilla suddenly got it, "No wonder there are so few taxis. I almost thought I was in the wrong place."

She turned to look at Sebastian, "What about you? Why are you at the airport at this hour?"

Sebastian explained, "An elder returned to the country, and I came to pick her up, but she couldn't wait and took a cab home."

He had started driving back after getting the call, but a sudden high beam in his rearview mirror made him notice Camilla standing in the cold, so he turned back.

Camilla nodded and didn't ask more.

At a red light, Sebastian asked, "Feeling warmer?"

"Yeah," she bit her lip, a bit embarrassed. "I'm not used to this cold after spending a few days in a tropical place."

"Oh, I brought you a little gift." She remembered and opened her bag.

Sebastian was taken aback, "A gift?"

"Yeah, not just for you, but for Professor Garcia too." Camilla said, taking out his gift, "I saw it and thought of you."

Sebastian looked at the doll in her hand. It wore a shirt and trousers, with gold-rimmed glasses perched on its nose, holding a book. Despite its serious expression, its exaggerated and cute proportions made it quite amusing.

Sebastian was silent for two seconds. "Really? I think the only thing we have in common is the glasses."
