Chapter 24 My Stomach Is Acting Up

The dude's hands were like, super defined, long, and just plain gorgeous. She peeked at them and noticed his cart was loaded with pre-made meals. When she looked up, he was already staring back at her.

Camilla grinned, "You seriously gonna eat just that for dinner?"

"Sometimes I get home too late and don't wanna deal with takeout, so I just grab whatever," Sebastian said, all chill.

"I've done the math. These things have enough protein, vitamins, and carbs for a day."

Camilla couldn't help but laugh at his serious tone, "Wow, you've got it all scientifically figured out, huh? But if you had to pick between fresh meals and this stuff, what would you go for?"

Sebastian went quiet. The answer was a no-brainer; who'd pick instant food over a fresh meal?

Camilla smirked, "Alright, I'll cook dinner. In return, you just gotta help me with one thing."

Half an hour later, Sebastian eyed the fish on the cutting board, "This looks tricky."

Camilla cleared her throat, "Yeah, usually the supermarket staff fillet the fish, but it was packed today, so they just did a quick job. If you could..."

Sebastian rolled up his sleeves and took off his glasses, "I'll give it a shot."

Camilla nodded, "Cool."

Watching Sebastian in the kitchen, she suddenly felt a bit guilty. Wasn't it a waste to have a physicist fillet fish?

Five minutes later.

Seeing the perfectly sliced fish, she took back her thoughts.

Not a waste at all; the guy had skills.

"Is this good?" Sebastian wiped his hands and asked.

"Yeah, you could totally go head-to-head with pro chefs."

Sebastian chuckled, "Never cooked before, but I did learn dissection in bio class!"

Camilla bought the fish, and Sebastian pitched in by getting some fruits and veggies. They ended up having a killer dinner together.

After dinner, Sebastian offered to do the dishes.

Once everything was cleaned up, Camilla said, "It's getting late. You should head home. I'll take out the trash."

Sebastian was used to running at night, but it was almost midnight, so he didn't stick around.

Camilla had taken a nap earlier and thought she wouldn't be able to sleep, but after seeing Sebastian off, she felt drowsy.

She slept like a baby through the night.

The next day, she woke up before seven.

"I envy you. You get to chill at the library every day and then crash at home. Unlike me, I gotta go on a blind date first thing in the morning."

On the screen, Juniper was putting on makeup in front of a mirror. She wasn't thrilled about the blind date, and her actions were half-hearted.

"Envy me? How about you come to the library with me today?" Camilla heard the frustration in her voice and tried to change the subject.

Juniper pouted, "No, I'd rather do the blind date."

She wasn't the studying type. Getting into Harmony College was already a stroke of luck for her. Having Sebastian in the family was enough; she didn't need to join the academic race.

"By the way, I edited the photos we took last time. I'll send them to you."

"Cool."

Juniper sent the photos via Facebook.

Camilla flipped through them. Some showed her wearing a headband, with Juniper pinching her cheeks, looking all innocent.

Other pics were of Juniper, fresh off a roller coaster, looking like she just dodged death. Camilla couldn't help but crack up.

As she got to the last photo, she was about to put her phone away when she noticed two familiar faces in the background.

Camilla pursed her lips, realizing she had accidentally snapped Amara and Leopold.

In the pic, she was the main focus, and the folks behind were just background noise. But Amara and Leopold were holding hands, making it seem like she had barged into their world.

"Mira, Mira!" Leopold clutched his stomach, calling out in a weak voice.

But the villa was dead silent, no response.

Early that morning, Leopold had been jolted awake by pain.

A sharp pain shot through his stomach, making him feel cold and nauseous, but he couldn't puke.

The feeling was all too familiar; his stomach was acting up again.

Remembering there was some stomach medicine at home, Leopold tried to recall and started rummaging through drawers.

But all he found was an empty box, the meds already gone.

Fighting through the pain, he called his assistant.

"Get some stomach medicine and bring it to the villa."

The assistant rushed to the pharmacy and bought the medicine.

Driving to the villa, the assistant saw Leopold sitting silently on the sofa, his face pale and forehead sweaty, then said, "Mr. Wipere, here's the medicine."

Leopold took the pills from the assistant and swallowed them right away.

"Want something to eat?"

Leopold waved him off, "You can go now."

The assistant sighed in relief and quietly left.

But less than an hour later, Leopold's call came again.

"What kind of stomach medicine is this? It didn't work at all. How can you mess up something as simple as buying medicine? Can't you read or see?"

Leopold tried to keep his cool, but the relentless pain in his stomach made it hard not to snap.

Seeing the medicine box on the coffee table, he realized it wasn't the kind he usually took, no wonder it didn't work.

The assistant replied, "Sorry, Mr. Wipere. I didn't notice before. What brand of stomach medicine do you want me to get?"

Leopold stared at the box, his mind suddenly blank.

Camilla used to handle this for him.

He had never paid attention to the brand or manufacturer; it always worked right away after he took it.

Frustrated, he hung up and then dialed Camilla's number.

"Sorry, the number you dialed is currently on another call."

His face darkened, remembering he was still on Camilla's blacklist.

Just then, he heard the door open; Mira was back from grocery shopping.

Leopold didn't like having outsiders at home, so Mira always came and went at set times.

At this hour, Mira was about to start cleaning when she saw a tall figure walking towards her.

"Mira, where's your phone?"

Mira was startled by his pale face, "Mr. Wipere, what's wrong with you?"

Leopold, irritated, replied impatiently, "Give me your phone. I need to make a call."

Taking the phone, he didn't even need to think before dialing that familiar number.

The other end picked up quickly.

"What's up, Mira?"

A clear voice sounded. Before the call connected, Leopold wanted to ask if she was done with her tantrum and when she was coming back.

But now, those words were stuck in his throat, unable to come out.

Finally, Leopold just said softly, "My stomach is acting up."
