Chapter 110 I've Settled Down

Leopold's face was a mix of barely held-back irritation and impatience. He checked the time; it was only nine, and he'd already gotten four calls from his family. Three from Elodie, and one from Amara.

Figuring he wouldn't pick up, Amara called once and then stopped, showing some restraint.

Still, Leopold was super annoyed, especially with Amara in the villa.

Oliver glanced at the time. "It's still early. Done playing already?"

Leopold didn't answer. Oliver could tell he was on the edge, even though he looked kinda sober. He didn't dare say more. "My driver's downstairs. He'll take you home."

Leopold said, "Thanks."

"Why so formal?" Oliver put down his glass. "Leopold, I'll see you out."

Leopold waved him off. "No need, you guys have fun."

Simon watched him walk away and couldn't help but chuckle, feeling a mix of nostalgia and amusement. "Amara's got some skills, huh? Turned Leopold into this?"

Oliver said, "Don't say that. Leopold's probably not feeling great."

"I wouldn't feel great either. I heard Camilla got into Harmony College for grad school. She's all about her studies now, cutting off all emotions. We even bet on how long Camilla would make a fuss this time. Who knew she wasn't making a fuss at all but was dead set on breaking up and living her own life!"

Over the years, Simon had seen Leopold and Camilla fight and make up countless times, but he never thought they'd actually break up.

After all, Camilla had stuck around for six years, clearly aiming for marriage and not stopping until she got it.

To be honest, Simon didn't think much of women like Camilla. He thought she had no mind of her own and would readily follow Leopold's orders. But now it seemed she got some skills, managing to manipulate two men and turning friends into enemies.

Simon said, "Call Marcus over, just tell him Leopold's already left."

Oliver shook his head. "You call if you want. If Leopold suddenly comes back and they run into each other, it would be a disaster. No way I'm risking that."

"You are such a coward!" Simon immediately took out his phone and dialed. "Hey, Marcus, come out and play."

On the other end, Marcus's voice was low. "No."

"Leopold just left, don't worry, you won't run into him."

"It's not because of him."

Simon was puzzled. "Then why?"

Marcus said, "No clubbing, no staying out late, no drinking unless necessary. It's a man’s sense of duty, got it?"

Simon was confused and thought Marcus must be out of his mind. "Are you crazy?"

Marcus replied, "I've settled down."

Simon was puzzled.

Marcus explained, "Really, no joke."

"Because of Camilla?"

"Yeah."

After getting in the car, Leopold closed his eyes and tiredly rubbed his temples.

He felt the temperature in the car was too high, making it hard to breathe, so he lowered the window slightly. Light and shadow flickered across his face, and the cold wind hit him.

But even so, the irritation in his heart wouldn't go away.

Elodie didn't agree with his breakup with Amara. A week ago, she specifically hired two nannies and brought Amara to the villa to rest.

On one hand, it was to take care of Amara, but on the other, it was also to keep an eye on him.

Knowing Amara had gone to see Elodie, he immediately got angry.

They had agreed that Amara would take the money for an abortion and they'd cut ties, but Amara flipped the script, going through Elodie to move into the villa.

That was when Leopold realized Amara was way more scheming than he thought.

Once, he saw Amara as pure and beautiful. Now, he felt like a fool, deceived and manipulated, and even lost Camilla because of her.

If it weren't for Amara, things between him and Camilla wouldn't have gotten this bad.

Thinking about it made Leopold even more disgusted. He didn't want to be anywhere near Amara!

He'd been crashing at the office for days. Amara didn't dare call him directly, so she went through Elodie, constantly nagging him to come back.

To keep Elodie off his back, Leopold had to suck it up and return to the villa. He thought, 'Other than that, don't expect anything else!'

When he got back to the villa, it was already eight in the evening.

Opening the door, he saw Amara standing there, reaching out to take his coat.

Leopold sidestepped her and walked straight to the living room.

Amara's hands froze in mid-air, and she bit her lip, looking all hurt.

She was wearing a light-colored, loose-knit dress today, with her long hair draped over her chest, looking gentle and lovely.

But Leopold ignored her and walked straight to Elodie. "You asked me to come back, and I'm back."

With that, he turned to go upstairs.

Elodie said, "Stop."

Leopold paused, his tone flat. "I'm very tired and need to rest."

Elodie frowned, clearly not happy with his attitude. "Come with me, I have something to say to you."

Elodie was assertive, and Leopold frowned but eventually followed her.

They went to the study. Leopold sat down, poured himself a glass of water, and drank it slowly, ignoring Elodie's displeased expression.

"The child is yours. Can't you show some concern?" Elodie gave him a look. She knew Leopold's personality; his perfect appearance was just a facade, hiding an extremely cold heart.

"When did I ever say I wanted this child? Wasn't it you who forced it on me?" Leopold raised an eyebrow, his eyes filled with obvious disgust, and his tone was very harsh.

Elodie understood his resentment and frustration, but there was no way she would give up her grandchild. "No matter what you think, the child in Amara's belly is a descendant of the Wipere family. Now that I know, it must be born safely!"

Leopold's face darkened, his aversion clear. "And what about after it's born? You don't expect me to marry her, do you?"

"I only care about the child. Whether you marry her or not is up to you," Elodie said calmly.

Leopold pondered for a moment. "If you want me to agree, it's not impossible, but I have a condition."

"What condition?"

"After the child is born, Amara must leave as far as possible, and you can no longer stop me from being with Camilla."

Elodie was speechless at Leopold's persistence but agreed.

Elodie was also dissatisfied with Camilla, but she was better than Amara. At least she graduated from Harmony College and was now in grad school.

She thought, 'Camilla had good taste and was generous. As for Amara, her education and manners were average, and her taste was barely passable.'

Leopold came out of the study feeling much lighter. He grabbed his coat, ignored Amara's pitiful pleas, and strode out the door.

At this moment, he couldn't wait to see Camilla to tell her that all the obstacles between them had been cleared, and from now on, they could be together freely.
