Chapter 239 Camilla, You Haven't Changed A Bit.

"Before we left, what did I tell you?! Be good, don't take other people's things. Did you not hear me?! Hand it over now! Do you want to end up in jail?" Julia yelled loudly.

Everyone was stunned.

The child was bewildered.

The woman and the man were dumbfounded.

Even Camilla was frozen in place.

The mischievous child realized and burst into tears on the spot.

This time, the crying was genuine. "I didn't take it! I don't know where it is!"

"Say that again?" Julia was both angry and scared.

"No! I won't say it!"

"Hand it over now!" She was even angrier, shouting loudly.

In the end, it was the police who intervened, and Julia finally calmed down a bit.

However, the child was also scared and, sniffling, pulled out a stack of documents from under the sofa.

A Policeman said, "Camilla, check it."

Camilla confirmed the documents were correct and nodded. "Yes, this is the report."

"That's good."

Camilla put away the documents, thought for a moment, and then looked at the child's parents. "My room was locked, and he climbed in through the window. The second floor is quite high, isn't it? Have you thought about what could happen if such a small child fell? It wouldn't just be about the documents; it would be a life!"

The man and woman turned pale.

The child was so guilty that he didn't dare to look up.

That night, Julia's family packed up and went back to the village.

Considering it was late at night, Alistair even offered to let them stay one more night and leave in the morning.

Julia just sighed, "Alistair, your family is kind-hearted, unlike your mom. You should be more cautious in the future."

With that, she left with her family.

Alistair frowned, thinking, 'Be more cautious?'

That night, Camilla's family finally had a good night's sleep.

The next morning, Bella hired three housekeepers.

After a whole morning, they finally cleaned every nook and cranny.

Camilla finished breakfast and went out for a walk.

She remembered the private bookstore she visited last time, where she found a rare original book related to her field.

Unfortunately, the owner wouldn't sell it, so she could only read it in the store but didn't finish it before going home.

Today, she planned to go back and finish reading it.

However, after searching the store twice, she couldn't find the book.

She asked the store manager.

The store manager said, "Oh, that book? It was sold yesterday."

Camilla was surprised. "Wasn't it the owner's private collection and not for sale?"

The store manager nodded. "It wasn't for sale, but the person who came yesterday was a friend of the owner. They have a good relationship, so the owner decided to sell it to him. Sorry about that."

Camilla waved her hand and said it was okay, but she couldn't hide the disappointment in her eyes.

At some point, it started raining outside.

Camilla walked around but couldn't find another rare book.

She sighed lightly and prepared to leave, but through the floor-to-ceiling window, she saw that the rain showed no sign of stopping.

Now she couldn't leave.

Suddenly, Camilla's gaze paused on a man taking shelter from the rain outside the bookstore.

Camilla opened the door, walked out, and tentatively called out. "Tobias?"

The man turned around, and the next second, his eyes lit up with surprise, "Camilla?"

It really was Tobias!

Maurice and Donna's only son.

He didn't have an umbrella, and his T-shirt was already half-soaked, with water dripping from his hair.

Camilla quickly took out a tissue and handed it to him, "Wipe yourself off. Even though it's summer, it's easy to catch a cold with wet hair."

"Thank you." He reached out and took it, wiping himself while sighing, "You're still as thoughtful and caring as when you were a kid."

The bookstore was connected to the adjacent mall, so since they had met and it was raining outside, the siblings decided to have a meal together.

Camilla called Bella to say she wouldn't be home for lunch.

Bella asked a couple of questions but didn't say much and hung up.

In the restaurant.

The slow-paced light music made the gloomy rainy day feel a bit better.

Their seats were by the window, and the floor-to-ceiling glass blocked the sound of the rain.

Camilla chose a few signature dishes based on the waiter's recommendations.

While waiting for the food, she turned to look out the window.

There were few pedestrians, and the traffic flowed by.

When she turned back, she unexpectedly met Tobias's eyes. Camilla was first stunned, then smiled shyly.

In fact, she and Tobias had a good relationship when they were kids, only three years apart, so they played together easily.

During middle and high school, the siblings often kept in touch.

Every time Tobias came to Maplewood High School to see her, he would bring her something delicious.

Camilla remembered clearly; sometimes it was fruit bread, sometimes cookies and snacks.

Those were the happiest times for Camilla amidst the tedious studies.

It was probably from college that Camilla got busy with her studies and relationships, and Tobias got busy with internships and work, so they called each other less.

After graduating from college, Camilla devoted herself to supporting Leopold, helping him start his business, and taking care of his daily needs, while Tobias went through a job resignation and chose to start a business with friends, becoming even busier.

Gradually, they lost contact.

Occasionally, she thought about calling to say hello, but then she thought it would be strange to call Tobias out of the blue after not being in touch for so long.

Both of them had this thought.

Gradually, they stopped contacting each other.

Some friends just drift apart over time, but fortunately, they still had their family bond.

Seeing each other again now, it didn't feel awkward.

Tobias said, "Camilla, you haven't changed a bit."

She was still the Camilla he remembered, quiet, beautiful, with eyes that always sparkled.

"Really?" Camilla was very happy.

Those six years had exhausted her.

Looking back now, Camilla even felt like she had been cursed.

She had gone through the darkest times in her life, thinking she would be depressed, but fortunately, she finally broke free.

But after going through so much, even if she came back, she couldn't be the same person she was before.

But Tobias said she hadn't changed a bit!

So, Camilla was genuinely happy. "Tobias, you've changed."

Tobias immediately raised his hand to touch his chin, "Gotten older, right?"

"No, you've grown taller."

In her memory, Tobias was only a little over 5-foot-7, but now he was at least 5-foot-10. His tanned skin was dark and healthy, and when he smiled, he showed his white teeth.

After years of struggling in society, Tobias still had the cleanliness and purity of his youth.
