Chapter 80 A Slap on the Face

Mia was feeling kinda lost.

"Why you staring at me? You know how to do the capital verification thing? If it goes south, can you handle it?"

"Yeah, I got it. They covered it in training. If her black card checks out, it ain't on me."

"You've been here, what, a few days? You're picking up quick, but let me remind you, you gotta have a sharp eye. Know who our clients are, who can afford it, and who can't. Otherwise, you're just wasting time."

Mia pursed her lips. "Thanks. But I just started, haven't made a sale yet, and I'm still learning. I'm not scared of wasting time."

She turned to Camilla, "Alright, according to the standard procedure, we gotta verify your card. If it checks out, you can see the property."

Then she looked at Alistair and Bella, "You can chill here and have some tea. It won't take long."

Alistair quickly waved his hand, "No need, no need, you're too kind."

He was super anxious now.

He thought, 'Why is Camilla still going through with this?

'Once the card is verified, the truth will come out.

'It'd be better to bail now and take a few scoldings.'

Bella was cooler than Alistair, at least she looked like it.

She sat down and slowly sipped her tea.

But her hand holding the teacup was shaking.

"Please, this way."

"Okay." Camilla nodded and followed into an office.

"Keep pretending, let's see how long you can keep it up!"

Ten minutes later, they came out of the office.

"So, the card's fake, right?" Leah was still waiting at the door, ready to confront Camilla to the end today.

But the two ignored her like she wasn't even there.

"Have you really thought this through?" Mia looked at Camilla nervously.

"Yep."

"How about I take you to see the property in person? You'll get a better feel for the location and environment, and then you can..."

"No need, I already saw the model inside."

"But..." Mia thought, 'Can a model be the same as the real thing?

'It's a house worth several million dollars!'

"Still putting on a show?" Leah snorted. "Mia, now you know what it means to be wary of people's intentions, right? You're new, you got a lot to learn! Consider today a lesson, so you'll know to keep your eyes open in the future."

"You misunderstand." Mia felt embarrassed for her.

"Misunderstand what? Misunderstand that someone is pretending to be rich and making you play along?" She kept glancing at Camilla as she spoke.

"No, Ms. Learmond's card..."

"I know, it's fake. Don't be so naive, she says it's a black card, and you really believe it?"

Mia replied, "No, no, it's real!"

"Are you stupid?" Leah rolled her eyes, her smile growing even brighter.

"Ms. Learmond, are you sure you don't need to think it over?" Mia asked Camilla again.

"No need, let's sign the contract."

Even though the price of this property was higher than the current average in Starlight City, it had a great location, complete amenities, and was fully furnished. A slight premium was acceptable.

Compared to the prices in Imperial City, it was already a steal.

Camilla had done her homework before coming, totally scoping out everything about the Stardust Enclave Villas.

So, no matter how Mia tried to sell it, Camilla already had the lowdown.

Mia could barely contain her excitement. "And the payment?"

"Full payment."

Alistair couldn't believe Camilla was actually buying a villa and had the cash ready!

He wanted to say something but got a sharp pinch in the waist from Bella.

"Just watch what Camilla does, don't say anything."

Alistair had to zip it.

Mia nervously took another bank card with both hands, then clumsily prepped a series of contracts and asked, "You sure? If there's no problem, I'll swipe the card now."

Camilla nodded. "Go ahead."

Mia, feeling like she was in a dream, went through all the steps. Finally, after seeing Camilla sign the purchase contract and getting confirmation from the finance department, the surreal feeling in Mia's heart slowly faded.

She thought, 'Oh my God!

'How lucky am I?

'I sold a villa just a few days into my job!

'My luck is amazing!'

Mia grinned like a fool, only restraining herself when she caught sight of a livid face. But within seconds, she couldn't help but smile again.

Who wouldn't smile at a commission of hundreds of thousands of dollars?

Leah, who had been so arrogant and full of ridicule a moment ago, now had a face ashen and eyes wide. "Mia, what were you trying to say earlier?"

"Oh, I was trying to say that Ms. Learmond's card is indeed a black card, and we had already picked the property and agreed on the price in the VIP reception room. We came out just to finalize the contract."

Leah's lips trembled, "She really wants to buy?"

"Of course! The contract is already signed."

How could this be fake?

Camilla didn't know what Leah was thinking at the moment, nor did she care. She walked straight past her. "Dad, Mom, we've seen enough, let's go home and pack up?"

Alistair was completely bewildered. "Pack what?"

Camilla said, "Even though we don't need to move the furniture and appliances, you and Mom's clothes and personal stuff need to be brought to the new house, right?"

Alistair nodded blankly. "Yes, yes, that's right."

Even after leaving the sales office, Alistair was still confused.

It wasn't until they got home that he calmed down a bit, sat on the sofa, rubbed his hands on his thighs, and finally asked, "Camilla, did you buy a house?"

Camilla nodded.

"A villa?"

She nodded again.

"Full payment?"

Another nod.

Alistair was silent for a full ten seconds, "For such a big decision, why didn't you discuss it with us first?"

Camilla understood Alistair's concern and explained, "We've lived here for so many years, always repairing and patching it up. Isn't it normal to get a new house?"

"I wanted to surprise you."

Alistair still looked worried.

"How much did the house cost?"

Camilla's eyes flickered, and she held up one hand, indicating "five."

Alistair knew the unit was "million"; it couldn't be just $500,000 for a villa.

Even though he was mentally prepared, knowing the actual number still made Alistair's heart tremble.

"Where did you get so much money? Did you max out your credit cards?"
