Chapter 188 Stern Face

After finishing the meal, Juniper was called away by a phone call, while Camilla took her parents home.

Although he was tired from a day of walking around, Alistair was still excitedly flipping through the photos on his phone, chattering non-stop.

The entire hallway was filled with his voice.

Bella rarely saw him act so childishly and couldn't help but smile.

Camilla played the role of a good listener throughout, only responding when necessary.

The three of them chatted and laughed as they climbed to the seventh floor. Camilla took out her keys and was about to open the door.

At that moment, the door across from them opened.

"Hey, Sebastian, heading out?" Alistair greeted warmly.

Camilla instinctively turned her head and unexpectedly met Sebastian's smiling eyes.

Sebastian was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt paired with khaki casual pants, looking simple and clean, yet elegant and composed.

This was the first time they had met since she got drunk last time.

She remembered Alistair saying that not only did she get drunk, but she also caused a scene with Sebastian.

Feeling guilty, Camilla averted her gaze.

Sebastian's smile deepened, and he nodded slightly at Alistair. "Yeah, heading to the lab."

"Working this late?"

"Still have two sets of data to finish."

"I see. Well, let's play chess together another day!"

"Sure."

At the same time, Elodie finally managed to get away from Clio and Travis.

Or rather, they were tired from playing and wanted to go back to the hotel to rest, giving Elodie a break.

Back at the old house, Elodie collapsed on the sofa, feeling weak and dizzy.

"Mom! I have good news for you!"

Clara ran downstairs and sat next to Elodie.

She had finally received her admission letter from Harmony College today.

Major: Bioinformatics.

Advisor: Calliope.

Looked like the nutritional supplements she had been giving Calliope paid off!

These were meant for Aurora, but Aurora didn't want them.

Waste not, want not.

In addition, Clara had sent an expensive bracelet to Calliope through someone else.

She didn't deliver it herself because, firstly, she was afraid the high value would make Calliope uncomfortable accepting it; and secondly, she felt guilty.

She had once hired online trolls to spread rumors that Camilla relied on Sebastian's connections, and now she was relying on Calliope herself. She worried that if someone took a photo, she would be criticized just like she had criticized Sebastian and Camilla.

After much thought, she decided it was better to find someone else to send it.

And the bracelet wasn't a gift; Calliope had bought it from her for five hundred dollars.

No one could find any fault.

Calliope didn't disappoint either, as the admission letter arrived promptly.

Elodie lay lifelessly on the sofa, showing little interest in her daughter's news, and half-heartedly said, "That's great."

"Mom, what's wrong with you? Why are you so listless? By the way, where did you go today? The driver didn't take you?"

Clara's words instantly triggered Elodie's desire to complain, and she sat up straight. "Where did I go? I went to deal with your brother's issues! You have no idea how embarrassing it is to be around Amara's families!"

Clara's frown deepened as she listened, "Why do you spoil them so much? Don't you know people will take advantage of you?"

"What am I supposed to do? Your dad and brother don't care, and if this blows up, it'll be even more troublesome. I just hope they take the money and leave, and never show up in front of me again!"

At this point, Elodie remembered running into Camilla's family today.

She looked at the crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling and murmured, "If I had known, I would have accepted Camilla back then."

At least she didn't have such an annoying mother and a sleazy brother.

Clara sighed as well, "Yeah."

If Elodie had accepted Camilla back then, Camilla and Leopold's child might be in kindergarten by now, and she wouldn't have to compete with her for a graduate spot.

But there was no second chance.

Juniper left the restaurant after taking a phone call.

Before leaving, she paid the bill and warned Camilla, "This meal is on me for your parents, don't fight me on this."

With that, she hurried out of the restaurant and drove off.

Half an hour later, her car was parked outside Blue Maple Entertainment.

A young man standing by the revolving door saw her car, his eyes lit up, and he immediately opened the passenger door and got in. "Baby, you're finally here."

The man was Lyle Warner, a small-time celebrity.

He had good looks, 6-foot-3, and had a great physique. Most importantly, he had a good personality, was clingy, and knew how to act cute—Juniper's favorite type.

"Why did you call me here in such a hurry? What's wrong?"

Lyle's lips tightened slightly, "My manager arranged a dinner meeting, and I'm a bit scared. Can you come with me?" As he spoke, his eyes reddened.

He looked at her cautiously and pitifully, and Juniper couldn't resist. "Alright, I'll go with you. Don't be scared."

"Juniper, you're the best." Lyle immediately smiled, and the tears he had been holding back fell.

Seeing this, Juniper's heart softened again, and she patted Lyle's chin, "Alright, don't."

"I didn't!"

The car stopped outside a private club.

Juniper looked at the sign, "Exquisite Elegance Club," and frowned.

She had never been here but had heard of it.

It was said to be very private, with a bar and dance floor downstairs, dining rooms upstairs, and even overnight accommodations.

"Your manager arranged the dinner here?"

"Yeah. He said he was trying to get me a supporting role in a TV series."

However, when they got to the second floor and entered the private room, Juniper found that Lyle's manager wasn't there.

The room was filled with investors.

There were even a few familiar faces.

Oliver nudged Simon's shoulder, "Isn't that your official girlfriend? Who's the guy next to her? He looks familiar."

Oliver quickly remembered. He was the lead actor in the two dramas he invested in.

After entering, Lyle naturally put his arm around Juniper's shoulder, led her to the table, and pulled out a chair for her, "Sit, Juniper."

Juniper asked, "Where's your manager?"

Lyle's eyes flickered, "He texted me earlier saying he was stuck in traffic, probably still on the way."

Juniper raised an eyebrow and looked across the table.

Simon was sitting there with a stern face, looking like someone owed him money, and his gaze at her was icy.
