Chapter 207 Just Call Marcus Directly

Thirty seconds later, the text message notification sounded.

Hestia returned to the phone's home screen and glanced at it. Sure enough, it was a deposit notification.

On the other end, Hestia's dad asked, "Hestia, did you get it?"

"Yeah, yeah, I got it."

It wasn't one million dollars, but one and a half million dollars.

Her dad had transferred an extra half a million dollars to her!

"Don't skimp on food and drinks. If you need more money, just ask me, okay?"

"Yeah, got it, Dad!"

Ending the call, she put away her phone.

Turning around, she saw Royce and Camilla staring at her.

Hestia blinked in confusion. "I got the money. Why are you looking at me like that?"

Royce squinted his eyes slightly, crossing his arms. "Hestia, you're not being honest."

Camilla said, "You said your parents are unemployed, and your dad is to watch over buildings?"

"Yeah, my dad owns over eighty buildings in that area. He collects rent, and if tenants have emergencies like a burst pipe or a tripped circuit breaker, they call him to handle it. He manages the whole building, kind of like property management."

Basically, working for himself.

Camilla was silent.

Royce asked, "And going out to sea to fish?"

Hestia said, "My mom likes to throw parties on the yacht, and my dad likes fishing, so they often go out to sea."

A yacht!

What?

Royce was confused. "So your family isn't poor?"

Hestia was surprised and asked in confusion. "Why would you think my family is poor?"

Royce looked her up and down with a complicated expression.

T-shirt, shorts, flip-flops...

"Honestly, you don't look very rich."

"Let me tell you, Royce! That's how we dress in the summer. My dad wears flip-flops all year round! And he wears them every day to collect rent."

Collecting rent every day?

Camilla and Royce exchanged a glance and fell silent.

"Now that we have the money, when are we going to buy the measuring instrument?" Hestia's eyes sparkled.

Camilla thought for a moment, "This is our joint project; the money shouldn't come from just you."

"Yeah, let's split it three ways," Royce had actually wanted to say this earlier, "It comes to $420,000 per person."

Camilla nodded. "Okay."

Hestia blinked and suddenly said, "You said I wasn't being honest, but I think you two are even less honest!"

So these two seemed calm on the surface but actually were rich too?

Royce said, "I've been saving since I was a kid."

Camilla explained, "Earned it through my own efforts."

She thought, 'I made my own efforts to get a hefty breakup fee. End of story.'

They had the money, but now there was a new problem.

For large and expensive experimental equipment like the CPRT, due to its small audience, it generally wasn't available on the market.

Royce said, "I saw a sales number online. Let's call and ask."

However, after dialing twice, it said the number was disconnected.

Royce pondered for a moment. "I'll go home and ask my elders if they have any purchasing channels."

Camilla nodded. "I'll also try to find a way."

Hestia asked, "What about me?"

"You handle the money."

That day, Camilla and Royce each transferred $420,000 to Hestia's account.

Hestia thought, 'It feels so good to have money~'

Hestia munched on cookies, smiling as she stroked her bank card.

Her family was indeed wealthy, but she still loved money!

Always bowing to the allure of money, just like her dad!

Camilla found out that the domestic distributor for CPRT was a startup called TechNova Innovations.

Following this company, she discovered that the major shareholder was someone named Saul Pena.

Searching for companies associated with Saul Pena, she eventually found a familiar name in the complex web of relationships.

Oliver Johnson.

"Hey, Camilla, how have you been?"

Camilla said, "Not bad. How about you?"

"Don't even mention it. I fell recently and broke my leg. I've been in the hospital for a week."

"That serious?" Camilla was a bit surprised.

"Actually, it's not that serious, just needs time to heal. Camilla, you know me, I'm an active person. Lying here every day is worse than death."

Camilla suggested, "You should listen to the doctor and rest. Don't get up too early to avoid any long-term issues."

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Camilla, did you call for something?"

Camilla explained her purpose.

Oliver was puzzled. "What's CPRT? I only know CPR."

Camilla patiently explained, "It's a dynamic measuring instrument, usually used in biological research."

"What was the name of the company you mentioned?"

"TechNova Innovations."

"Right, right, I do have a fund that invests in tech companies, especially startups. But this isn't my area of expertise, so I mostly co-invest and only do short-term. If I remember correctly, TechNova Innovations was co-invested with Simon. I just put in the money and don't get involved in strategic decisions or operations, so I've never met their boss."

He continued, "But Simon's portfolio focuses on tech innovation companies, and he has a significant stake in this one. He probably has more information than I do. You should call him."

"Okay, thanks. Take care and get well soon."

"We're such good friends, Camilla. Don't thank me."

Camilla smiled.

After hanging up, she immediately called Simon.

Simon answered quickly, and the background noise wasn't as chaotic as before.

Camilla thought, 'Makes sense, it's broad daylight, not time for nightlife.'

She spoke up, "Mr. Miller."

"Oh, so formal, Camilla~ Don't be so distant. I'm not just your ex-boyfriend's good friend; I'm also your good friend's current boyfriend."

This relationship sounded a bit convoluted coming from Simon.

Camilla didn't want to waste words; Simon's mouth was hard to beat. "I have something to ask you."

"Sure, go ahead."

Camilla explained the situation.

Simon asked, "Are you sure it's TechNova Innovations?"

"Yes."

"Looking for the boss?"

"Yes."

"Then just call Marcus directly."
