Chapter 55 You Have Nothing to Do with Me Either

Marcus grinned and said, "I'll chase whoever I want, no need for you to stress about it. How am I gonna know the outcome if I don't give it a shot?"

Camilla shot back, "Even if it might totally bum you out?"

Marcus's eyes got all serious. "I'll deal with it."

Camilla didn't expect him to be so stubborn and just kept quiet.

Marcus picked up on her vibe and didn't push it, just chilled and listened to the waves with her.

He didn't bounce until midnight.

Camilla thought about his stubbornness and persistence, 'Honestly, Marcus has some serious boundaries. His pursuit isn't pushy or reckless, and he tries not to cause her any drama. Unlike Leopold, who used to be relentless and now loses it over the smallest things.'

Camilla sighed. Well, she really couldn't stop others from doing their thing.

She should just do her.

As she turned to head back to her room, she suddenly saw a dark figure lurking in the shadows!

Camilla jumped and almost screamed.

The figure stepped out of the shadows, and as the light hit his face, Camilla realized who it was. "Leopold, what the heck do you want?!"

She thought, 'Middle of the night, standing there all creepy, it's really freaky!'

Camilla bailed on the party halfway, making it pointless for Leopold.

He chased after her but couldn't find her.

Amara came over, saying she was starving and wanted some grub.

Leopold's patience snapped, feeling super annoyed.

He then called a waiter to take Amara to the restaurant.

Because of the hotel's tight security, Leopold had to jump through hoops to get Camilla's room number.

He couldn't wait to find her, only to see her on the balcony with Marcus, watching the sea!

Her white Bohemian backless dress was fluttering in the sea breeze, her expression cold, with her straight hair draped over her shoulders, like the only presence in the night.

Marcus was tall, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist.

The two of them standing together looked like a perfect picture.

Leopold stood there, stunned.

It wasn't until Marcus left that Camilla noticed him.

Leopold was still wearing the mask from the party, looking at Camilla with a faint, ambiguous light in his eyes. He took a step forward, and Camilla's brows furrowed a bit more.

"Why are you here? I've already said everything that needs to be said, you..."

Before she could finish, her wrist was grabbed with a strong force.

"Why can he, but I can't?" Leopold asked, his eyes red.

Camilla struggled but couldn't break free, so she met his gaze directly. "What madness are you up to now?"

"Marcus, I saw him just now." Leopold said, "Don't you know what kind of person he is?"

Leopold's breath was close, and Camilla took two steps back. "What do you want to say?"

Her distant actions made Leopold even angrier, and his tone became heavier. "Do you think he really likes you? He's just a cunning playboy, don't be fooled by him."

Marcus had been groomed as the family heir since childhood. Leopold had never heard Marcus clearly express what he liked or disliked; he was always reserved and deep-thinking.

Sometimes, even as a friend, Leopold didn't know what Marcus was thinking.

This sudden change made him suspect that Marcus had other intentions, perhaps even trying to use Camilla for some other purpose.

Camilla didn't understand and didn't want to. She said lightly, "Whatever his intentions are, they have nothing to do with me."

At her words, Leopold's face softened a bit, but then she added, "You also have nothing to do with me."

"It's super late. If you keep acting nuts, I'll call the butler and have him send security over."

Leopold wanted to say more, "Camilla."

"I'll count to three. Three, two..."

Camilla pulled out her phone and was ready to dial. As soon as she hit 1, the butler would be there in a flash.

Leopold was pissed but had no choice.

He left with a "I'll come find you tomorrow."

Not far away on the restaurant terrace, Amara watched the whole thing, her expression hidden in the shadows.

The next day.

Just as the sky was starting to lighten, Juniper came back.

Camilla poured herself a glass of milk, holding a piece of bread. She had just taken a couple of bites when she heard the sound of the password lock.

Juniper had already changed into a new dress, humming a tune, clearly in a good mood.

Seeing the sandwich on the table, Juniper walked over, grabbed a small piece, and popped it in her mouth. The bread was toasted to perfection, so she reached for another piece.

Camilla sat across from her, seeing her so chipper, and smiled. "Looks like you had a pretty awesome night."

"Totally, it's been ages since I met such a hottie." Juniper's expression was nuanced as she recalled the events of the previous evening, a mixture of wistfulness and reminiscence. "A real gem."

The guy had killer looks and was super fit. She could confirm those abs she felt last night were the real deal.

It had been a while since she met such a perfect match.

Especially when she woke up in the morning, he was still there, with red marks all over his skin from her, and his eyes looking at her like a puppy, almost making Juniper lose control again.

Luckily, she still had a bit of self-control left, remembered her plans, and hurried back.

"Didn't I tell you the other day? I booked a deep dive coach. We can head out around ten."

The waters of Reefhaven Isles are a clear, deep blue, with special deep-sea diving spots. At about 300 feet down, you can see schools of fish and coral reefs, making it a must-do on the island.

Camilla had heard about it before coming. The thought of the suffocating feeling deep underwater freaked her out a bit, but her curiosity and love for the ocean won out, and she agreed to go with Juniper.

The coach they booked had a great rep locally, known for being funny and patient. Seeing that his clients this time were two beautiful women, he was extra attentive.

Before diving, the coach went over all the precautions, including common hand signals used underwater and how to use the diving gear.

There would also be some basic training before they dived.

Juniper had done a few deep dives before, so she was already familiar with this stuff.

It was Camilla's first time, so she listened super carefully.

When she messed up the hand signals, the coach patted her arm. "You're too tense, relax. Deep diving lets you experience the ocean's unique charm. Imagine the colorful underwater world, where you can quietly feel the sea's presence. It's amazing."
