Chapter 174 Demolition

"Sit down, making it too formal makes me uncomfortable."

Camilla couldn't help but laugh and cry, so she sat down.

Sebastian said, "I love your cooking. This meal is the best thank you." After saying that, he lifted his soup bowl and lightly clinked it with hers.

He then picked up a piece of chicken wing, fried to a golden crisp, with slightly charred edges and juicy inside.

"After all, outside, it's a matter of luck to find chicken wings this good."

Camilla was amused by him. "So, you're going to finish the rest of the chicken wings?"

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, his smile deepening. "I'd be delighted."

By the time they finished the meal, it was already 2 PM.

After cleaning up the kitchen together, they headed out.

Sebastian was going to the lab, and Camilla was going to the library, so they could walk together for a bit.

At the fork in the road, Sebastian went left, and the library was to the right. Camilla instinctively followed him towards the lab.

Suddenly, she stopped, realizing belatedly that she no longer needed to go to the lab.

Sebastian chuckled.

Camilla's cheeks turned slightly red, and she hurried into the library as if escaping.

The next day, Camilla went to the lab.

Of course, she didn't go empty-handed; she brought some homemade snacks.

Betty and the others looked at the delicate little cakes in the box and exclaimed,

"Camilla, did you make these yourself? They're so beautiful."

"I almost don't want to eat them."

"This is Hello Kitty, this one is Mickey Mouse... Oh my! There's even Bumblebee? You're so talented!"

Darren came over to join the fun and noticed there was a Stella Lou that Doris liked. "Camilla, can I have this one?"

"Sure. Go ahead."

Betty immediately understood. "You're taking it for Doris, right?"

"Yeah." Darren nodded with a smile.

Hector couldn't wait and started eating, nodding furiously as he did. "Delicious, and not too sweet."

Even someone like him, who usually didn't eat sweets, finished it.

Camilla said, "Thank you all for your care and help during this time. I've finished my thesis, so I probably won't be coming to the lab anymore."

Betty wasn't surprised; she had long anticipated this day.

She just didn't expect Camilla to move so quickly.

"Don't make it sound so sad. It's just the lab; it's not like we'll never see each other again. We can still hang out when we have time."

Hector was quite reluctant.

It was rare to find such a talented student to discuss quick calculations and exchange ideas with.

Darren also nodded with a smile after hearing this. "Yeah, we're all friends. We can still meet up often."

Camilla smiled and agreed.

Doris looked at the Stella Lou cake Darren placed by her hand and couldn't help but pout.

She thought, 'Finally, she's leaving!'

In the evening, Sebastian treated everyone to dinner.

Everyone knew his background and didn't think about saving him money, so they chose a Michelin five-star restaurant.

The restaurant had a somewhat vintage style, and the scenery was quite beautiful.

Camilla wore a light purple long dress today, with her shoulder-length hair pinned up, looking clean and elegant without any makeup.

To match the dress, Camilla chose a pair of heeled sandals.

The path to the restaurant was paved with cobblestones. Despite being very careful, Camilla still slipped and fell backward.

Fortunately, Sebastian was right behind her, gently supporting her waist with his large hand.

Once she was steady, Sebastian let go and stepped back half a step. "Are you okay?"

Camilla shook her head. "Thank you. Luckily, you caught me."

She lifted the hem of her dress and was more careful this time.

No one paid much attention to this little incident, focusing instead on whether Camilla was hurt.

Hector directly extended his arm. "Camilla, you can use this. It's got muscles! Guaranteed not to fall."

Only Doris stared at Camilla's side waist.

During the meal, Darren noticed that Doris's bowl was almost untouched and worried if she was feeling unwell. "Why are you eating so little today? Is your stomach acting up again?"

Doris often had irregular meals, so Darren was used to nagging.

"Today's dishes are quite light, good for your stomach. These are your favorites."

"Can you stop nagging?" Doris pushed his hand away, "I just don't want to eat. Why do you have so much to say? Can't I decide whether to eat or not?"

Darren's hand, holding the chopsticks, froze. "I didn't mean that. I just worry about your health."

No one else paid attention to them; they all focused on their own meals.

It wasn't that they didn't want to intervene; they were just used to it.

After all, Darren enjoyed it, so why should others interfere?

They might even offend someone, and no one was foolish enough to do something thankless.

Sebastian glanced at Darren, who was entirely focused on Doris and didn't notice Sebastian's gaze.

Camilla didn't like to meddle in others' affairs and had no interest in gossip. She just lowered her head and focused on enjoying the food.

No wonder it's a Michelin five-star restaurant.

So delicious.

After that day, Camilla completely bid farewell to Sebastian's lab.

After a few days of leisure, one weekend afternoon, she suddenly received a call from Alistair. "Camilla, I have good news! Want to hear it?"

"Of course." Camilla roughly guessed what it was but still played along with Alistair. "Tell me, Dad, don't keep me in suspense!"

"Haha, let me tell you, the houses in the neighborhood near Maplewood High School are going to be demolished! They're compensating us as commercial land. Your mom and I roughly calculated, and it should be over a million dollars!"

"So much money?!" Camilla tried to make her voice sound as surprised as possible, "Good thing we didn't sell the old house when we bought the new one."

"Exactly! Speaking of selling houses, do you remember our neighbor Anouk?"

Anouk?

Camilla remembered very well.

It was because she ruined the wisteria in the yard that Camilla decided to get her parents a new house.

"What about her?"

Alistair said, "I heard she bought a house in another neighborhood and moved out last month. But she didn't keep the old house; she listened to the realtor and sold it quickly at a low price to buy the new one. The day after the transfer was completed, news came that our area was going to be demolished."

Anouk regretted it deeply.

But since she sold it herself, no matter how unwilling she was, she had to accept it.

One day, Anouk accidentally opened the sale contract to see what it specifically said and suddenly discovered.

The buyer's name was exactly the same as the realtor's!

All the procedures were handled by the realtor, and in the end, she only signed at the bottom right corner.

Anouk never thought to check who the buyer was; she just believed whatever the realtor said.

It turned out the realtor bought her demolition house at a low price!

How could this be?
