Chapter 218 Come in and Talk

Clio and Travis followed Leopold all the way here, afraid of being discovered, they didn't dare to show themselves. Plus, they were too far away to see anything clearly, wishing they had a telescope in hand.

But one thing was certain. Leopold had a new lover!

No wonder he abandoned Amara!

For the past month, Clio and Travis had been well-fed and well-taken care of by the Wipere family. Elodie almost granted their every request, and life was just too comfortable.

So comfortable that they no longer wanted to return to their previous impoverished state.

Anyway, as long as they got the money, they wouldn't have to worry for the rest of their lives.

Seeing that Elodie had been tormented enough and they had vented their anger, they decided to take the money and leave.

However, when Clio demanded a sky-high price of fifty million dollars, Elodie was so shocked that her soul seemed to leave her body, and she was stunned.

After being dumbfounded for a full minute and confirming that Clio wasn't joking, Elodie turned hostile on the spot, throwing out, "Fifty million dollars? Dream on!"

Then she walked away.

Since then, Elodie stopped answering Clio's calls, and all financial support, including the hotel they were staying at, was cut off.

Only then did Clio and Travis realize they might have gone too far.

"Mom, how about we change it to five million dollars?"

After several struggles, Clio gritted her teeth and said, "Fine, five million dollars it is!"

However, Elodie still wouldn't answer her calls.

Anyway, the shareholders' meeting was over, so there was no need to indulge the greedy Clio and Travis any longer.

Seeing Elodie's firm attitude, Clio and Travis turned their attention to Leopold.

But he had bodyguards when entering and leaving the company, and after the last incident, the building's security was even stricter, making it impossible to get in.

Clio and Travis had no choice but to stake out and follow him. After a few days, they finally caught him!

And they unexpectedly discovered the existence of a mistress!

Just as Clio was about to get closer to see what she looked like, her phone suddenly rang.

Clio quickly retreated behind a tree trunk and impatiently answered the call, "Hello?"

"Mom, where are you and Travis? Why haven't you come to see me for so long? Aren't you worried about me being alone in the hospital?"

After Clio and Travis moved out of the hospital room, they never went back to see Amara.

Amara had been uncooperative with her treatment, causing a commotion every day, crying and making a fuss, which also affected her condition.

So, after more than a month, she still hadn't been discharged.

A nurse nearby saw Amara getting agitated again and quickly took the phone, "Are you Amara's family? She is very emotional right now. You need to come to the hospital immediately!"

Clio didn't want to go. Having gotten used to staying in luxury hotels, the smell of disinfectant in the hospital made her nauseous.

But then she thought, 'To get benefits from the Wipere family, Amara is the key, and nothing can go wrong now.'

So Clio agreed.

"Amara is staying in such an expensive hospital, eating and drinking well, and still making a fuss every day. Why is she so pretentious?" Travis couldn't help but complain.

Some people just didn't know how good they have it!

Clio said, "Exactly, she is so inconsiderate. We're running around for her, and she doesn't appreciate it. Instead, she causes more trouble."

When they arrived at the hospital, Amara almost cried when she saw Clio and Travis, "Mom, Travis, why did it take you so long to come? I was afraid you had forgotten about me."

Clio extended a finger and poked her head hard, saying, "Stop being a crybaby! Travis and I are doing all this for you. We've been negotiating with the Wipere family, trying to get Leopold to marry you. We're working so hard for whom? And you keep causing trouble. How did I end up with such a brainless daughter?"

Amara rubbed her forehead and pouted, "You didn't tell me, how was I supposed to know?"

Feeling wronged but also a bit hopeful, she asked, "Did you say Leopold would marry me? What did he say?"

Now that the baby was gone and the five hundred million dollars had vanished, it was impossible to get the money.

But if she could marry into the Wipere family and become Leopold's wife, would she still have to worry about money?

For the past month, Amara had been in the hospital, and her mind often wandered back to when her belly was still fine, and the baby was safe. She used to visit the hospital every day, arguing with Leopold and causing trouble with Elodie.

She relied on her good health and didn't care about anything, exhausting herself.

The more she dwell on it, the more she wanted to slap herself.

If she had known the baby would really be gone, she would have stayed put and taken care of her pregnancy.

Why couldn't she wait until after giving birth to vent her anger?

Clio frowned, "What else could he say? Leopold is not an easy person to talk to; it's hard even to see him."

Travis was also getting angry.

Elodie had already planned to give them money. Wouldn't it be good to take the five million dollars and leave? Why insist on fifty million dollars, not a penny less?

Travis couldn't help but show some resentment in his eyes when looking at Clio.

But he didn't reveal anything. "Mom, what do we do now?"

Clio's eyes turned fierce. "If he doesn't agree, we'll keep causing trouble until he gives in!"

The next day, Travis and Clio went to Leopold's company again.

The main entrance was strictly guarded, and they couldn't get in.

Fortunately, Travis found the building's fire escape, hidden behind a small door.

A poster was stuck on the door, blending in with the surrounding wallpaper, making it hard to notice it was a door.

Through this door, they could access any floor of the building.

But to their dismay, there was no elevator!

They had to climb the stairs floor by floor!

"Mom, maybe we should think of another way?" Travis swallowed hard.

Twenty or thirty floors, their legs would break.

Clio said, "What are you afraid of? Just climb! Climb up, and you get five million dollars. Are you still complaining?"

Travis was instantly motivated.

He thought, 'Money, here I come!'

Fifty minutes later, Clio and Travis finally reached the floor where Leopold was.

Clio took out a wrench she had prepared in advance and smashed open the fire escape door on that floor, not giving the secretary, assistant, or security any time to react, and started shouting at the top of her lungs. "Leopold, you scumbag! If you don't give us an compensation today, I won't live anymore!"

She continued, "Everyone, hear this. This Leopold got my daughter pregnant and refuses to take responsibility. My daughter is still lying in the hospital! We have no money and no one to help us. Isn't this pushing us to our deaths? Leopold, if you don't take responsibility, I'll jump from here and haunt you even as a ghost!"

Clio's voice was very loud.

But unfortunately, the floors were well soundproofed.

So, except for the floor they were on, no one else could hear her shouting.

And on this floor, everyone was either Leopold's assistant or secretary. Who would dare to spread a word?

But Clio didn't know that.

She kept shouting and yelling.

The assistants and secretaries looked at her with disdainful expressions.

It wasn't until Clio sat on the window sill, ready to jump, that they took her seriously.

She could die, but not here.

Fortunately, Leopold came out of his office in time, looking expressionlessly at Clio, who was already sitting on the window sill, and Travis, who was pretending to persuade her not to jump. "Are you done making a scene? Don't you want money? Come in and talk."

With that, he turned and walked inside, regardless of Clio and Travis's reactions.
