Chapter 187 Regret to Death

The crowd gradually dispersed, and Camilla's group was preparing to head to the next exhibit. Just as they turned around, they bumped into Elodie face-to-face.

Juniper let out a scream.

Camilla's expression remained unchanged, and she calmly looked away.

She and Elodie were now just strangers, so courtesy was unnecessary. Meeting each other was like not knowing each other.

This way, no one would feel awkward.

Unexpectedly, Elodie took a couple of steps forward and greeted her with a smile, "Camilla, you're here at the museum too?"

Alistair and Bella exchanged a glance. An acquaintance?

But they had never heard of Camilla knowing such a person, and they couldn't help but be curious about Elodie's identity.

Seeing this, Juniper quietly whispered a few words into their ears.

Immediately, Bella's gaze towards Elodie changed.

Alistair's smile also faded, and his eyes became sharp.

Elodie felt a bit awkward and was about to say something when Clio impatiently urged from the side, "What are you dawdling for? Hurry up and get out of here. It's stuffy and hot inside, and it smells musty. It's unbearable!"

"Exactly!" Travis chimed in, "If I had known, I wouldn't have come. Who cares about looking at this stuff? Mom, I'm hungry."

Clio lifted her chin and ordered Elodie, "Where's the food? Go buy something for my son, something good and expensive!"

Elodie wished she could disappear on the spot.

Camilla and Juniper exchanged a glance, both seeing the surprise in each other's eyes.

Camilla thought, 'How can Elodie endure such humiliation and who are they?'

Juniper's eyes flashed, and she smiled at Travis, "Hi, what's your name?"

Juniper took the initiative to strike up a conversation, and Travis's eyes lit up, "I'm Travis Scott! And you?"

Camilla's gaze deepened as she heard the name Scott.

Before this, she had already learned from Juniper that Amara had a miscarriage, was abandoned in the hospital, and Elodie ignored her while Leopold grew tired of her.

It had come to this.

The worst possible outcome.

After hearing this, Camilla didn't feel any satisfaction or relief, only a sigh for another woman's fate.

She had sacrificed her education, her body, her reputation, and her innocence, all to tie down a man.

Was it worth it?

Camilla was immensely grateful that she had been foolish for six years but still had a chance to withdraw.

Juniper asked, "What are you doing here with Mrs. Wipere?"

"Oh, she took us to the museum, but it was so boring. We told her to leave, but she just stood there like an idiot!" Travis was eager to spill every detail, even the color of his underwear.

Juniper suddenly understood. Elodie was being blackmailed, so she had to lower herself.

Then she said, "Mrs. Wipere is really interesting! She's usually surrounded by people, but who would've thought she'd end up as someone's lackey, running around and working hard? Isn't it novel?"

Elodie gritted her teeth, "Juniper! Don't go too far! After all, I'm your elder!"

Juniper didn't hide her disdain, "Come on, the Russell family has nothing to do with the Wipere family, so don't act all high and mighty with me. And besides, I'm not wrong! Aren't you a lackey? Oh, there's a bit of a difference; at least those people don't have to endure this!"

Juniper's words were so sharp that they hit Elodie's sore spot directly.

Her face changed colors like a palette, which was quite amusing.

"Camilla, let's go. There's nothing to say to people like this."

Clio watched the group leave and then glanced at Elodie's ugly expression, "You've offended quite a few people."

Clio thought, 'No wonder she's so annoying!'

Elodie couldn't say a word.

This little episode didn't affect Camilla's group's mood. They continued to visit the other two exhibits and then found a restaurant for a meal.

"This place isn't cheap, is it?" Bella could tell from the decor that it wasn't simple.

Camilla quickly linked arms with her. "It's rare for us to go out, so of course, I want to treat you to something special."

Bella smiled and didn't dampen the mood.

But when Alistair entered, he thought, 'How expensive could it be?' When he saw the menu, he was so shocked he almost jumped out of his seat.

"The cheapest steak is over a thousand dollars?"

Camilla immediately reassured him, "I have a membership card, so we get a discount."

"Oh, that's more like it." He sat back down, took a sip of lemon water, and casually asked, "How much of a discount?"

Camilla said, "Five percent off."

Alistair spat out his water.

Camilla was helpless. "Dad! Watch yourself! Manners!"

Juniper was already laughing so hard she was doubled over.

When the dishes were gradually served and tasted, Alistair had to admit that the high price was justified.

Meanwhile, Clio and Travis had eaten a bit, but it wasn't enough, and it didn't taste good.

After leaving the museum, Clio gave Travis a look, and he suggested, "I want to eat at the most expensive, high-end restaurant! Don't try to fool me, or I'll go somewhere else to eat."

Elodie felt helpless.

It must have been fate because the restaurant Elodie chose happened to be the same one Camilla brought her parents to.

And their seats were in adjacent private rooms.

The private rooms in the restaurant were semi-open, so even the clinking of cutlery could be heard clearly, let alone people talking.

The waiter came over with a tablet to ask what they needed.

Clio had never been here before, so she instinctively turned to Travis.

But Travis wasn't looking at the menu or his mom.

His eyes were glued to the tall, voluptuous waitress in front of him, looking very lecherous.

The waitress, feeling uncomfortable, took a couple of steps back to stand further away from him.

Clio didn't notice Travis's thoughts, and even if she did, she wouldn't say anything. She'd thought it was just a glance, no big deal.

The menu names gave her a headache, and she was too lazy to ask Elodie, so she randomly pointed at the pictures that looked good, not knowing what was an appetizer, a main course, or a dessert.

When the dishes were served, there were hardly any hot dishes, just some appetizers and desserts.

Under the waiter's strange gaze, Clio called Travis over and happily started eating.

Elodie just wanted to cover her face and run away.

Camilla had already noticed who was at the next table.

But so what?

Her energy was limited, and she didn't have the time to pay attention to a stranger.

"Dad, try my Wellington steak. It's their signature dish, and it tastes great."

As she spoke, she cut a piece and put it on Alistair's plate.

Bella protested, "Where is mine?"

Camilla was helpless, "I also want to give it to my dear mom, but you don't like eating food that others have touched, so I have to be mindful."

Bella had some quirks.

"Is my daughter considered 'others'?"

Camilla quickly served her a piece of steak, bigger and more tender than Alistair's.

Bella said, "That's more like it."

Juniper watched the three of them, a hint of envy flashing in her eyes.

Although Clio and Travis ate a lot, there was still a lot left.

Clio asked Elodie, "Why aren't you eating?"

Elodie thought, 'Just looking at you makes me lose my appetite, how can I eat?'

But what came out was, "I'm not hungry. I'm going to the restroom."

As she got up, Elodie heard laughter from the next table.

Alistair and Bella were eating elegantly and sitting comfortably.

Elodie was filled with envy and regret.

She thought, 'What had blinded me to choose Amara over Camilla and end up with such a bizarre family?
