Chapter 115 Losing Camilla Forever
Leopold yanked his hand back like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "I'm sorry, Camilla. I didn't mean to. I don't know what's wrong with me. I just don't want you to leave, to be so far from me."
"Don't touch me!" Camilla clutched her head, tears streaming down from the pain.
Right then, Oliver finally showed up, having rushed over. Marcus was with him.
"You okay?" Marcus ignored Leopold and went straight to Camilla, his voice full of concern.
When Oliver called, Marcus was at some fancy business cocktail party.
He was about to close a big deal that night. But when he heard Camilla might be in trouble, he ditched the client and bolted out of there.
He sped over, took like ten minutes, and met Oliver at the alley entrance.
They exchanged a look, said nothing, and headed straight to Camilla's place. Sure enough, they saw Leopold losing it.
Camilla pushed Leopold away and also kept Marcus at arm's length.
She took a half step back, the familiar scent of Marcus fading a bit. She shook her head slowly. "I'm fine now."
Marcus's eyes landed on her messy hair. Her scalp was clearly red, yet she said she was fine.
Marcus felt a pang of heartache. "You don't always have to be so tough."
Before Camilla could respond, Leopold lost it. "Marcus, who the hell gave you the right to speak here?"
" I'll say what I want. What are you gonna do about it?" Compared to Leopold's rage, Marcus was cool as a cucumber, except for his darkened eyes.
Leopold glared at Oliver. "Why'd you call him here? To laugh at me, or to let him steal my girl right in front of me?"
Oliver was speechless, left with only a bitter smile.
Marcus frowned. "If you're mad, don't take it out on others. Oliver came because he consider you a friend. Otherwise, who would give a damn about how much you drank!"
"Friend?" Leopold sneered. "I thought you were my friend too, but is what you did something a friend would do? Don't forget, Camilla is my girlfriend!"
Marcus laughed in anger. "Leopold, I'll assume you're drunk and talking nonsense. Camilla broke up with you ages ago. Your girlfriend? Are you out of your mind?!"
"So what if we broke up? Don't you know you shouldn't go after a friend's ex?"
Marcus shot back, "If I remember right, you were the one who dumped her at the nightclub, right?"
Leopold was speechless.
Marcus glanced back at Camilla. "You go upstairs. I'll handle this."
Camilla frowned.
Marcus gently reassured her, "Trust me."
Oliver also gave her a nod.
Camilla turned and went upstairs. She didn't want to deal with it and couldn't. It was best if someone could handle Leopold.
She thought, 'Saves me the trouble of calling the cops. If it was just Marcus, I might be worried. But with Oliver there, it shouldn't be a big problem.'
Leopold's eyes followed her back, several times trying to step forward but was blocked by Marcus. "Get out of my way!"
Marcus said coldly, "Can't you see the disgust on her face?"
Leopold shot back, "She's disgusted with you!"
Marcus chuckled. "When are you gonna stop lying to yourself? When you two were together, did you really think she didn't know about your shady stuff? Now that you're apart, you think she'll still play dumb?"
Leopold staggered. "What do you mean?"
"You don't get it? You thought you hid everything perfectly, but Camilla ain't stupid."
Leopold caught another meaning. He grabbed Marcus by the collar, eyes blazing. "What did you tell her?"
"Seems like you still don't get why you broke up."
"You act like you know everything!"
Marcus shouted, "Of course I know!"
"Shut up!"
Marcus shoved him away, straightened his collar, and looked down at him. "Look at yourself now. It's really pathetic."
Oliver yelled, "Enough! Can you just shut up for once?! We're all friends; why hurt each other?"
Leopold snapped, "We are not friends."
Marcus sneered, "I don't have friends like him."
Oliver was at a loss.
Leopold pointed at Marcus, warning, "Stay away from Camilla, or else..."
Marcus said calmly, "Or else what?"
Leopold fumed, "Don't blame me for forgetting our years of friendship!"
Marcus was unfazed. "Threats won't work on me. Even if it's not me, there'll be someone else. But one thing won't change."
Marcus spoke each word clearly, "You will lose Camilla forever in this lifetime! If you don't want Camilla to hate you more, be smart and stop bugging her. Otherwise, you'll just push her further away."
With that, Marcus walked past him, patted Oliver on the shoulder. "Thanks. Keep an eye on him, don't let him go on a drunken rampage."
Then he strode away.
Oliver glanced at the dazed, heartbroken Leopold and couldn't help but sigh.
If only he had known it would come to this, Leopold wouldn't have acted that way in the first place. "Oliver."
"Leopold." Oliver immediately stepped forward to support him. "Let's go back, okay?"
"Tell me, why won't she forgive me? Before, no matter how much we fought, she would always come back to me. Why won't she come back this time? Why?" Leopold's eyes were empty, his expression confused.
Oliver was silent for a moment. "Leopold, have you ever thought that a bird stays in a cage not because the cage is strong, but because it willingly confines itself?"
"Then why doesn't she want to anymore?"
Oliver said, "Because she's disappointed, heartbroken, and finally decided to stop loving."
"Stopped loving?" This was the second time Leopold heard this from someone. The first time was form Camilla."I apologized and admitted my mistakes. Isn't that enough?" Leopold asked.
Oliver's mouth tightened for a moment. "Not all problems can be solved with an apology."
"Then what does she want from me? Should I give up everything for her?"
Oliver was sure Leopold was really drunk. When sober, he would never say such humble words in front of him.
"Leopold, let's not discuss this now. Sleep on it, and we'll talk later. Come on, I'll take you home," Oliver said, putting Leopold's arm over his shoulder and helping him walk out step by step.
Suddenly, Leopold stopped, as if remembering something, pushed Oliver away, and turned back to the apartment building.
Oliver asked, "Leopold, what are you doing?"
