Chapter 185 Family Gathering

"What do you want?" Elodie asked through gritted teeth.

The angrier Elodie got, the more satisfied Clio felt.

"I understand you want to settle the price quickly and get this over with. But we've been in Imperial City for almost half a month now, staying in a hospital room, sleeping on a cot. It's been torture on my back, and I even got scared by your driver the other day. I've been through a lot physically and mentally, and I need to recover before we can talk."

"Just say it straight, what exactly do you want!" Elodie's forehead veins throbbed uncontrollably as she listened to Clio.

Clio smirked, "How about arranging a hotel for me and my son first? Oh, and make it a five-star hotel. What's that room called again?"

Travis whispered from the side, "Presidential suite."

"Right, the presidential suite!"

Elodie took a deep breath for the umpteenth time. "Fine!"

She immediately instructed the butler to book a hotel and a room for them.

That night, Clio and Travis moved into a hotel near the hospital.

Since the presidential suite was fully booked, the butler called to negotiate humbly, and Clio finally agreed to stay in a business suite instead.

But the luxury still shocked Clio and Travis.

"There are actually two bedrooms, three bathrooms! And even a private gym and pool," Travis exclaimed with his mouth wide open, "Do rich people really live like this?"

Clio swallowed and looked around, touching everything. "This is just a business suite. How luxurious must the presidential suite be? How much does it cost per night?"

Travis said, "Who cares how much it costs, we don't have to pay! Mom, come look, there's a menu here with dishes I've never even heard of."

Clio walked over and glanced at it.

Two whole menus, covering almost every dish imaginable.

But what shocked her the most was the price.

The cheapest dish was over two hundred dollars!

This was too expensive!

"Mom, I'm hungry," Travis said, looking at the pictures and swallowing.

Clio's eyes twinkled as she took out her phone and called Elodie, "Just arranging a place to stay isn't enough. I need good meals to recover quickly."

Elodie, not wanting to waste words, said, "Order whatever you want, just charge it to the room. Don't bother me with such trivial matters!"

With that, she hung up.

Clio smiled as she put away her phone, "Hungry? Go ahead and order."

"Are you sure we don't have to pay?"

"Didn't you hear? Just charge it to the room!"

Clio didn't hold back and ordered several of the most expensive dishes.

Soon, hotel staff brought the food on a cart, smiling the whole time and even pouring wine for them.

Clio and Travis ate dishes they had never tasted before and enjoyed services they had never experienced. They felt like they were floating and thought, 'So this is how rich people live? It seems fifty million dollars is too little; they should ask for more!'

Elodie thought that after satisfying Clio's demands, Clio would enjoy herself for a few days and then contact her for money.

At that point, she could just give her fifty or sixty thousand dollars to get rid of her.

Even if Clio was greedy, it would only be a couple hundred thousand dollars.

That amount of money wasn't even enough for a shopping spree; it was worth it for some peace and quiet.

Two days later, Elodie did get a call from Clio, but it wasn't about asking for money.

"What did you say?" Elodie couldn't believe what she heard.

Clio said, "Take me and my son to that hotel where you had tea with those socialites last time. Is there a problem?"

Elodie controlled her urge to throw away her phone, gritting her teeth, "That hotel is members-only!"

"So?"

"Non-members can't get in!"

"Then get me a membership, won't you?"

Elodie was about to grind her teeth to dust.

Get a membership? Easier said than done!

She thought, 'You need to spend at least two million dollars to become a lifetime member. Who does Clio think she is?'

"I don't care. I want to have afternoon tea there today. Figure it out!"

In the end, Elodie used her own membership to bring the two inside.

Coincidentally, she ran into a group of familiar friends having a gathering. Elodie brought the two right into the middle of it!

"Mrs. Wipere? Is that really you?"

"We've been calling you, but you didn't respond. We thought we had the wrong person."

Elodie forced a smile, feeling so embarrassed she wanted to flee.

"Did you call me? Sorry, I didn't hear."

"And who are these two?" Someone's gaze fell on Clio and Travis, "They look familiar. Where have I seen them before?"

Clio smiled and said, "Last time, here as well. I was a bit loud and had a little disagreement with Mrs. Wipere. You were probably there too, right?"

With that, everyone's memories clicked.

They looked at Elodie with surprise, suspicion.

In short, it was meaningful.

"Have you settled things? Made peace?" a socialite asked.

Before Elodie could speak, Clio jumped in, "Yes, we've settled everything! Made peace a long time ago!"

She thought she was answering well, not realizing Elodie wanted to sew her mouth shut with a needle!

The question itself was a trap!

Answering it meant admitting there was a dispute, which would easily lead to thoughts about Leopold.

Further confirming that he got someone else's daughter pregnant!

Originally, the rumors in the circle were just speculation. If they didn't respond, rumors would die down over time. But this idiot Clio jumped out and confessed!

"So that's how it is~" The socialite, who never got along with Elodie, smiled even more brightly.

"In that case, we won't disturb your family gathering. Let's go."

The group left, satisfied with the drama.

Elodie stood there, her face dark, and thought, 'Family gathering? Hell no!'

Clio, oblivious to it all, looked around. "These lights are huge, and those vases at the entrance, are they antiques? How much are they worth?"

Elodie was speechless. She really wanted to slap her!

After wolfing down afternoon tea with Clio and Travis, Elodie thought she was finally free.

But then, Clio said, "Is that a mall across the street? Let's go shopping!"

Elodie said, "You guys go ahead. I have things to do, I need to leave."

"Leave? Who's going to pay if you leave?"

Elodie was exasperated.
