Chapter 289 The Crisp Slap
Bronte was also scared of getting hit and glanced at Hestia nervously.
"She's huge. I bet it would hurt like hell if she hit me." She then quickly shoved Noe forward. "Hiding behind a girl? Seriously, have you no shame?"
Noe stayed silent.
Clara stood off to the side, arms crossed. "Alright, let's not forget why we're here. Let's get to it."
She then turned to Camilla and held out her hand. "Hand over the lab key. It's pointless for you to keep it."
Camilla gave a slight smile. "Sorry, but I can't give you the key."
Clara's brow furrowed. "You might not get it. It's not about whether you want to or not; you have to! According to the lab renovation rules, labs under renovation can't be used, and students can't hold the keys. They have to be given to the advisor or returned to the admin office."
Camilla nodded, "You sure know the rules."
Clara snorted, lifting her chin a bit. "Since you know the rules, be smart and hand it over."
Camilla smirked, "I'll hand it over, but why should I give it to you? Who are you? My advisor or an admin staff member?"
Clara was speechless!
Yesterday, Calliope had called her to the office, hinting strongly that she needed to get the key from Camilla.
At first, Clara didn't get it.
What was so special about a rundown lab?
Then she realized that this ordinary lab housed a CPRT!
The equipment was bulky and needed professional technicians for installation and removal, so Camilla and her team couldn't take it away.
Who wouldn't want more good stuff?
Hestia couldn't help but sneer, "Some people are just greedy! Like leeches, always looking to suck the life out of others. Have some shame!"
Clara blushed, feeling the sting of Hestia's words.
Actually, Clara didn't agree with Calliope's behavior of grabbing every benefit, and she even found it disgusting.
After all, as a wealthy young lady, Clara could buy whatever she wanted. Why fixate on someone else's stuff?
Besides, it was second-hand. Was it really necessary?
But Clara had no choice. Despite her aversion, she had to comply.
Calliope still held control over her academic achievements and graduation requirements for the next few years.
Clara said, "I'm here for the key today. I don't want to waste words with you."
"Well, sorry, you're too late," Camilla said calmly, "I've already handed the key over to my advisor."
This "advisor" was certainly not Aurora, who still didn't know about it.
Last time, after attending an academic summit abroad, Aurora rested for five days and then flew to another country, Avalonia, to represent Harmony College at a joint academic exchange with Oasis University.
Aurora was already exhausted from all the traveling, and Camilla didn't want to bother her with these annoying matters.
"Who? Which advisor? Speak clearly!" Clara demanded aggressively.
Camilla replied coolly, "Why should I tell you? Publicly or privately, I owe you no explanations."
"Camilla, don't get all high and mighty! Have you forgotten how you used to suck up to me when you were with my brother? Acting all superior now, who are you trying to fool? You're just a dog raised by the Wipere family!"
Camilla's eyes turned icy. She slapped Clara, and then the entire room fell silent.
Even Clara was stunned. "How dare you hit me!"
Camilla said disdainfully, "Why wouldn't I dare? You insulted me first; I'm just defending my honor. This is a school, not your home. You can throw tantrums, but I have no obligation to indulge you."
So, her past kindness to Clara was seen as sucking up. How ironic!
Bronte's eyes darkened, and he suddenly spoke, "Even if Clara's words were harsh, Camilla, you can't just hit her! The school rules clearly state that fighting and causing trouble can get you expelled."
Noe immediately chimed in, "Let's go to the administration office and report her! We're all witnesses!"
Irvin quickly stepped between the two sides, trying to mediate, "We're all classmates; there's no need to escalate this."
"Get out of the way!" Noe pushed Irvin aside forcefully, "Whose side are you on? When we needed you to speak up, you stood there like a dead fish. Now that we're going to report Camilla, you suddenly have a lot to say. Irvin, I never knew you were such a talker!"
Irvin stammered, "I just... just don't want us to have conflicts. It won't be good for anyone if this escalates."
Irvin looked to Ignatius for help.
Ignatius glanced at everyone and finally looked at Clara, saying calmly, "Camilla is right. This is a school, not your home. If you insult people, be prepared to get hit."
Clara's eyes widened in disbelief.
Noe didn't dare to criticize Ignatius but wasn't so polite to Irvin, "Are you even part of our team? Why do you always help outsiders? People might think you're on her side!"
The insult was harsh.
It not only targeted Irvin but also implied something about Ignatius.
Even Bronte's face changed after hearing it.
Only Camilla remained calm. She turned to look at Hestia.
Their eyes met, and Hestia understood immediately.
She rolled up her sleeves and rushed forward before Noe could react, delivering two crisp slaps before quickly retreating.
Noe was stunned, his cheeks burning. "How dare you!"
Hestia smirked and looked at him defiantly.
"Why did you hit me? Are you out of your mind?" Noe cursed and tried to rush at her, but Irvin held him back tightly.
He was tall, and when he got serious, Noe couldn't break free.
"Let go of me! I'm going to the administration office to report this! You'll all be expelled!" Noe shouted.
"Fine," Camilla said with a smile, her voice firm, "Let's see who gets expelled first, you or us."
Noe froze. "What do you mean?"
