Chapter 97 None of my business

Camilla threw up her hands. "Alright, alright, you got me! Happy now?"

"Hospital rules say car accident victims gotta call family. Didn't wanna freak out my folks, so I gave 'em your number," Juniper stated.

She let out a big sigh, pulled out her phone, and grumbled, "If my phone hadn't been smashed to bits, I wouldn't have missed those calls."

Camilla finally got why all her calls went straight to voicemail. "How you holding up? Any pain or anything?" she asked with concern.

Passing by the crash site, especially a big one, had Camilla all worried.

Juniper replied, "They ran all the tests before you got here, and I'm good. Just gotta finish some paperwork, then I'm outta here."

Camilla let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. "That's a relief."

Juniper had just one bag with her. As they descended to the first floor to pay the bill, they unexpectedly ran into Elodie, accompanied by Amara.

The two of them were engaged in lively conversation, Elodie wearing a broad grin while Amara nodded in agreement. They appeared quite chummy together.

Elodie said, "You gotta be more careful next time, don't get hurt."

"Yeah, yeah, I'll be careful," Amara replied in sweet voice.

Juniper scoffed, "No wonder the side chick's so cocky, she's got the jerk's mom backing her up!"

Elodie hadn't seen Camilla in six months, and Camilla looked way better than she expected.

Amara noticed Camilla too and instinctively supported her lower back, her belly slightly showing.

She greeted, "Camilla, what a coincidence! Didn't think I'd see you here."

Camilla's smile faded, and she was about to walk away.

Then Amara casually dropped. "I've been feeling off lately, and after a check-up, turns out I'm pregnant."

Camilla froze.

Amara continued, "I didn't expect it either, such a surprise, but for Leopold, it's a huge deal."

"Still early, so it's not showing much. I'm really worried that when my belly gets bigger, it'll be hard to go out, and I'll have to watch what I eat." Amara kept rambling with a faint smile.

Camilla turned, her face calm. "Congrats. But you don't need to tell me this."

"But I wanna share it with you."

Juniper snapped, "Sharing? Spare me! Never seen a side chick so smug! So what if you're pregnant? Even a pig can get pregnant, what's there to brag about?"

"You should focus on getting Leopold to marry you before your belly gets too big! Instead of trying to gross us out, seriously, what's wrong with you?"

"How can you talk to me like that!" Amara bit her lip, looking all hurt, tears welling up like she was about to cry.

Seeing this, Elodie jumped in, "Juniper, watch your mouth!"

Juniper smirked, "Sorry, I can't be nice to shameless people."

"You!" Elodie felt the sting.

But she didn't dare clap back, 'cause that'd mean admitting she was "shameless."

So, she just glared daggers at Juniper.

If looks could kill, Juniper would be toast.

"Juniper, you might have misunderstood me." Amara tried to look all pitiful.

Too bad Juniper wasn't buying it. "Misunderstood what? That you're not shameless?"

Elodie snapped, "Juniper, don't push it! I'm your elder."

"Oh, pulling the elder card now? Too bad, I don't scare easy. Wanna see me push it further?" Juniper retorted.

Elodie clammed up.

"Alright Juniper, no point arguing with them." Camilla was too drained for these verbal throwdowns. Even if she won, so what?

Camilla's calm tone and serene eyes were like a match to gasoline, instantly pissing off Elodie.

"Feeling inferior?" Elodie sneered. "You've been with Leopold for years and nothing, yet Amara gets pregnant so easily. It was only Leopold who believed in and loved you back then. I can never support your marriage to Leopold!"

No wonder Elodie was so mad, 'cause Camilla hadn't even glanced her way, making her feel dissed.

Back in the day, she treated Camilla like she was invisible, and Camilla had to suck it up; now the tables had turned, and Camilla had the upper hand.

How could Elodie swallow that?

It was like a loyal dog that used to follow her around suddenly leaped onto the table, growled at her, and even nipped at her heels. Camilla smiled slightly. "Sorry, I don't have those dreams. Whoever wants to join the Wipere family can go ahead, and whoever wants your son can have him, it's got nothing to do with me."

"You!" Elodie turned pale with rage.

At that moment, Amara suddenly grabbed her hand with a grip so tight, Camilla couldn't shake it off right away.

She said sincerely, "Camilla, thanks for your blessings. Leopold, our kid, and I will be just fine."

Camilla's smile didn't waver. "Good luck."

"Thank you."

Juniper rolled her eyes, pulled Camilla away, and grumbled as they walked, "Does she think she's in a soap opera? So fake, it's a shame she's not an actress!"

Camilla stayed quiet.

"And Leopold's mom, does the Wipere family have a throne to inherit? Do they really think the Wipere family is some paradise everyone wants to join? Even if it were, with her there, it'd turn into a cesspool!" Juniper didn't hold back, even raising her voice on purpose, making sure they heard.

Sure enough, Amara's face turned sour.

Elodie's expression twisted. "Ridiculous! Absolutely outrageous!"

A young passerby looked at her weirdly, thinking, 'This lady must think she's in a soap opera, right?'
