Chapter 217 Just Let It Go
In the following days, this feeling grew stronger.
Usually, Sebastian would leave at least one night a week for a run.
Once, Camilla heard some noise in the hallway, and when she opened the door, she found that Sebastian had already returned home.
That wasn't all. Every month, Sebastian would generally take one or two days off, but Camilla never saw his door open even once.
Another time, she opened her door and saw the door across the hall slightly ajar, but it quickly closed again, probably because they heard her.
Camilla was really confused.
She started to wonder when she had offended Sebastian.
No matter how much she thought about it, she couldn't figure it out.
If she could see him, Camilla would have directly asked what it was about her that made him avoid her like this.
On the other side, Sebastian heard Camilla's footsteps getting fainter. He estimated the time, walked to the window, and sure enough, saw her figure.
Watching Camilla's silhouette fade into the distance, he finally withdrew his complicated gaze.
It wasn't that he wanted to avoid her.
But he had no choice.
The first time he had that kind of dream, he could chalk it up to coincidence, an accident, a normal physiological reaction. But after seeing her outside the cafeteria that day, Sebastian had that kind of dream again that night.
It was even more vivid, more stimulating, more shameful than the first.
In the dream, he was like an uncontrollable beast, ignoring Camilla's weak pleas and pinning her down forcefully.
Ravaging her, making love tirelessly.
This time, the dream was even clearer.
After waking up, every detail replayed in his mind like a loop.
Sebastian, frustrated and dejected, stripped the sheets and duvet cover and threw them into the washing machine with a sense of despair.
He couldn't understand why he was having such dreams.
How could he desecrate a woman like that?
This intense self-loathing made it impossible for him to face Camilla calmly.
How should he handle this?
During this time, the oblivious Paloma brought Sebastian a few meals. After returning, she quietly told Cedric, "Sebastian's been in a bad mood these past few days. He only asked for one meal. Maybe he's heartbroken."
The project was progressing normally, and the relationship among Camilla's team was becoming more harmonious.
One afternoon, tired of the cafeteria food, the three went off-campus to find something to eat.
On their way back, they were discussing their plans for the afternoon when Hestia suddenly stopped.
Camilla and Royce, who were in the middle of a conversation, stopped in confusion.
Royce asked, "What's wrong?"
"Your ex-boyfriend is here again," Hestia said, nodding towards the school gate in the distance, then looked at Camilla with sympathy.
Camilla's mouth twitched. Was it too late to hide?
Too late.
Because Leopold had already seen her and was striding over with flowers in his arms.
As he got closer, Camilla saw that he was holding a bouquet of champagne roses.
Hestia cleared her throat. "Royce, I'm a bit thirsty. Let's go to the convenience store to buy a bottle of water."
Royce glanced at Camilla, then at Hestia, and nodded in agreement.
The two left.
Now, Camilla didn't even want to pretend to be civil. "Leopold, are you really that free?"
He was stunned, "Camilla..."
"We broke up a year ago. Can you stop coming to see me?"
Leopold frowned and shoved the flowers into her arms, gritting his teeth, "No."
Camilla was really tired. She had repeated herself too many times, "It's pointless. You have so many options. Why are you fixated on me?"
"Because you're the only woman I want."
She forced a smile, "On Oliver's birthday, in the private room, you didn't say that when you were holding Amara."
Amara was a good girl.
I wanted to give her a title.
The words he had once said now slapped Leopold in the face.
Leopold's eyes reddened, "I was blind back then, mistaking a fish eye for a pearl, giving up my true love. I know it's too late to apologize now, but no matter what, I still want to tell you, in this life, the woman I love the most has always been you, and only you. Camilla, will you forgive me?"
He continued, "Back then, it was the same season, at the north gate of Harmony College, the same place where you agreed to be my girlfriend. Can you give me another chance today to pursue you again?"
Camilla handed the flowers back to him. "No. If you have even a shred of guilt towards me, don't show up at the school gate like this again. Because your presence makes me the subject of gossip and brings me unnecessary trouble."
Leopold's declarations of love were always so willful, regardless of anything.
Camilla once thought that was a sign of caring for someone—direct, straightforward, passionate. But six years of misplaced affection made her realize that it wasn't love; it was selfishness.
Selfishly using what he thought was love, ignoring the other person's situation and wishes, stubbornly doing things his way.
Camilla didn't like being gossiped about, but Leopold was always so high-profile.
Sending flowers, expensive flowers.
Picking her up from school, deliberately parking the car in the most conspicuous spot.
Coming to her classroom, under the guise of accompanying her to class.
But Leopold never knew how much criticism and ridicule Camilla faced behind his back.
"You never told me any of this. I didn't know," Leopold said, his eyes vacant, murmuring.
"Did you really not know?" Camilla's gaze was sharp, "Or even if you did, would you have continued doing it?"
Leopold was speechless.
"Six years is a long time, but you never really understood me, just as I never truly understood you. So, just let it go. There's no need to gain it back."
With that, Camilla walked past him and left with large strides.
Leopold's face turned pale.
He took a half step back and collapsed onto a bench.
Not far away, two sneaky figures were hiding behind a tree, staring intently, afraid to miss anything.
