Chapter 50 Take It Slow

Night rolled in, and Leopold had just wrapped up work when Oliver hit him up, "Leopold, it's been ages since we chilled. Wanna grab a drink?"

"Yeah."

Leopold ditched his study, swapped his clothes, and headed downstairs. Just as he hit the bottom, Amara walked in, kicking off her shoes in the foyer.

Their eyes locked, both caught off guard.

Leopold blurted, "What are you doing here?"

"Hey babe, you heading out?"

"Yeah."

Amara bit her lip, looking all awkward, "Did I come at a bad time?"

Leopold stayed silent.

"I came after class, didn't skip. You were kinda rough last night, and I'm feeling it down there. It's been bugging me all day. I didn't wanna hit the pharmacy alone. I remembered the villa's first aid kit had some ointment, so I swung by."

She stammered, worried Leopold would think she was a hassle.

"I'll head back to school now!" Not getting a response, Amara bit her lip and turned to leave.

She barely took two steps.

Leopold said, "Come here."

A smile almost broke out on her face, but she held it back as she turned. "Honey."

Leopold dug out the first aid kit, rummaged through the ointments, and after checking the labels, "None of these are gonna work; you can't use them down there."

Amara was on the verge of tears. "What do I do then? Go to the pharmacy? How do I even ask for that?"

She was mortified.

Leopold sighed and got up. "Let's go, I'll take you to the hospital."

"No need, I don't wanna mess up your plans."

Leopold grabbed his car keys. "It's just drinks with Oliver. It can wait."

"Can I come with you after we see the doc?"

"Sure."

Leaving the hospital, Amara's face was as red as a tomato.

Leopold felt a bit awkward. "Sorry."

"It's cool, I like it. As long as I'm with you, I'm happy doing anything." Amara's eyes sparkled with innocent joy.

The more carefree Amara was, the more it bugged Leopold.

It wouldn't be such a mess if he hadn't mistaken her for someone else.

He couldn't imagine how Amara would react if he broke up with her now.

"Get in the car." Leopold opened the driver's door.

"Huh?" Amara was stunned, "Where to?"

"Didn't you wanna come to Oliver's hangout with me?"

"Oh." Amara nodded and hopped into the passenger seat.

The private room was buzzing with loud heavy metal music. Oliver was holding a wine glass, lost in his own world.

Simon kicked him. "Move, stop showing off in front of me, it's gross."

"What do you know? This is a new dance I picked up. You should try it too..."

"No way, I don't have the guts to make a fool of myself." Simon quickly backed off.

"Where's Leopold? Didn't you call him? Why isn't he here yet?"

Oliver shrugged, "No clue, but he said he'd come, so he will."

Simon thought for a moment. "Did you invite Marcus?"

"Yeah."

"You've got some nerve!"

Simon thought, 'Everyone knew Leopold and Marcus had beef, yet he still invited both. Is he asking for trouble?'

"Do you think I'm dumb?" Oliver snorted, "Marcus said he wouldn't come, so I invited Leopold. Oh, here he is."

Hearing the ruckus, Oliver bolted to the door to greet them.

Next thing you know, Leopold strolls in with Amara hanging on his arm.

Oliver's jaw dropped.

Leopold stayed cool. "Oliver."

"Leopold's here, grab a seat." He quickly shoved drinks and fruit their way.

Later, when Amara hit the restroom, Oliver couldn't hold it in, "Leopold, what's the deal? Didn't you break up with Amara? Why'd you bring her?"

After a few drinks, Leopold's eyes were a bit glazed. "She's still a little girl at heart. Give it time. She might not be able to handle it all at once."

Oliver felt a pang in his teeth.

He thought, 'She's already in college! Leopold's trippin'!'

"Aren't you trying to get Camilla back?"

If that was the case, Marcus would be over the moon.

Mentioning Camilla, Leopold felt a sting in his heart. "Who said that?"

"Then why are you juggling two chicks?" Oliver glanced towards where Amara had left.

"No rush, once things with Amara are sorted, I'll do my best to make it up to Camilla."

Oliver moved his lips.

He thought, 'Opportunities don't wait. By the time you sort things out, Camilla might be long gone.'

But seeing Leopold's determined look, Oliver chose to zip it.

It was near midnight when the hangout finally wrapped up.

Oliver was half-drunk but still managed to sign the bill before being helped into a car by the nightclub staff.

The designated driver got him home safe.

Simon was fine, not having drunk much, but he had smoked a few too many cigarettes, making him reek.

He had a suite at a nearby five-star hotel, so he headed straight there.

Leopold and Amara were left standing by the roadside, waiting for the designated driver.

Amara tentatively linked her arm with Leopold's muscular one, leaning in like a little bird, "Baby, it's so late. Let's go back to the villa?" Hinting she was down to stay the night.

Leopold stayed silent.

Two seconds later, he replied, "You have class tomorrow. Better take you back to the dorm."

Amara's lips tightened, disappointed, but she said, "Okay, whatever you say."

Leopold's expression softened slightly.

After dropping Amara off at the dorm entrance and watching her go in, Leopold calmly looked away.

The driver asked, "Sir, where to next?"

Leopold looked out the window, then suddenly opened the door and got out. "Drive the car back for me. I'll take a walk around here."

Wandering aimlessly, he found himself at the main gate of Harmony College.

He knew this place well. Back when he was chasing Camilla, he often waited for her at the gate.

Sometimes he only had to wait ten minutes to see her, other times it took half a day or more, and he still might not see her.

But he never got tired of it, never found it a hassle.

Reaching a narrow alley, he walked through to where Camilla now lived.

Leopold didn't hesitate and went straight upstairs.

In the dark, he kicked beer bottles and stepped on trash several times.

Enduring the stench, he finally reached the door.

"Camilla, it's me."
