Chapter 46 Three Men and One Woman

So, just as Marcus was about to grab her, another hand swooped in and stopped him cold.

Marcus scowled, glaring at the newcomer. "Sebastian?"

Camilla's voice was barely a whisper, "Sebastian, why are you here?"

She was on the verge of tears.

Sebastian's eyes softened as he looked at her. "You okay?"

Camilla nodded, but her voice shook. "Yeah."

Of course, she wasn't.

Sebastian's voice was gentle. "My car's right here. Want me to take you home?"

"Okay, thanks."

Sebastian wrapped an arm around her, ready to leave.

Camilla had been on the edge, but Sebastian made her feel safe.

She asked again, "Sebastian, why are you here?"

Turned out, there was a fancy hotel next to the manor. Sebastian had been at an academic conference and stepped out for a break, only to stumble upon this mess.

"Just had some stuff to do."

"Hold up." Marcus caught up, "Sebastian, you lost or something? The conference is next door; this is my private manor."

Sebastian paused, and Camilla stopped too.

Marcus insisted, "She's my guest. I'll take care of her. No need for you to butt in."

Sebastian turned, giving Marcus a once-over. "Did you ask her what she wants?"

Camilla didn't hesitate. "I'll go with Sebastian."

Marcus was speechless. "Camilla..."

Sebastian said, "Let's go."

Camilla nodded.

"Stop right there!" Leopold couldn't hold back any longer, seeing the three of them tangled up.

"Camilla, where do you think you're going?"

"Home."

"To this guy's place, right?" Leopold sneered, pointing at Sebastian.

"Are you that desperate? Can't live without a man? Did you start fooling around with him before we even broke up? Camilla, you make me sick! I wondered why you left so quickly; turns out you already had another guy lined up? And you went for someone close to me? That's low, even for you!"

Leopold was fuming, his anger blinding him. He just wanted to humiliate Camilla in the worst way possible.

He turned to Marcus and Sebastian. "Is she really worth it? The woman I slept with? Worth fighting over?"

Camilla was shaking, Leopold's words cutting deep.

When the pain was too much, all that was left was numbness.

Her eyes were red, staring at Leopold's twisted face. She felt like she was drowning in icy water, losing all feeling.

Sebastian frowned, seeing Camilla's frail body trembling in the cold wind, like she'd collapse with a single touch.

"I thought, after six years, at least our feelings were real. But now I see, to you, I'm worthless."

Camilla's voice was choked with sobs, a bitter smile on her lips. "I made the wrong choice from the start, leading to mistake after mistake, ending in complete ruin."

Seeing her pale face, red eyes, and tears streaming down, Leopold felt like he'd been punched in the gut, his chest tight with discomfort.

Leopold opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but no words came out.

After a while, he finally croaked, "Why?"

Angrily, he turned to Marcus, raising his voice, "I asked you why! You knew Camilla was my girl, why'd you do this?"

Marcus looked at him coolly, "Didn't I ask you? Didn't you tell me to go for her? What's your problem now?"

Leopold's face went pale as he remembered the recent group chat.

Camilla was shaking even more, about to collapse.

Sebastian caught her just in time. "I'm taking you out of here."

Marcus squinted, blocking his way. "Where do you think you're going? This is my turf, not some place you can just waltz in and out of."

Leopold's eyes narrowed, filled with rage.

Sebastian's gaze turned sharp. "The guy running the academic conference next door is the chairman of BioFusion Technologies. The meeting's almost over, and he's here today. One call from me, and he'll be here in two minutes. If you don't want this mess to get back to the elders of the Davis and Wipere families, you'd better back off."

The Russell family's clout in the city was way beyond what the Davis or Wipere families could handle.

And Sebastian just name-dropped their elders.

Marcus hesitated for a couple of seconds.

Leopold frowned, too.

"Also, if I remember right, the Russell and Wipere families have a partnership. If this mess screws that up, it's not something you can handle alone."

Sebastian's tone was calm, but Marcus and Leopold got the message loud and clear.

Sebastian didn't care about their reactions. "Move aside."

Leopold stayed silent, his face dark, and Marcus stepped back, letting Sebastian take Camilla away.

"Damn it!" Leopold kicked a stone, fuming.

Oliver and Simon, who had been watching the whole thing, exchanged glances, too scared to say anything.

Marcus grabbed his coat and turned to leave.

Leopold watched him go, his gaze dark.

Amara stepped forward, cautiously holding his arm. "Leopold."

"Get lost!"

On the way back, it started to rain.

Raindrops hit the car window, sliding down in streaks.

The wind howled nonstop.

Camilla stared blankly out the window, feeling like there was a hole in her heart, her body trembling.

Suddenly, a warm coat was draped over her, carrying Sebastian's unique scent.

Camilla's emotions broke, and she couldn't hold back her tears anymore.

Sebastian heard her low sobs, his heart heavy with sorrow.

He had the driver pull over, raised the partition, and let her vent.

After a while, Camilla calmed down, thinking about what had just happened, her fingers tightening. "Sorry about that."

Sebastian spoke seriously, "Don't let those jerks' words get to you. Other people's judgments are just biased, and some are just to vent their anger. Only those who really know you understand what kind of person you are. At least to me, you're amazing. So, don't beat yourself up over other people's crap, okay?"

Sebastian's tone was gentle, his gaze sincere. Because of his words, Camilla slowly stopped crying.

She looked up, their eyes meeting.
