Chapter 135 There’s no Way to Tell the One Next to You a Devil or Not
Francis' question made Chloe feel uneasy.
She looked so pitiful and disheveled now, but Francis didn't call a doctor to treat her first but instead cared about this.
Her knees still hurt a lot, and she didn't know if it was totally crushed by that jerk, Harper.
Chloe was angry inside, but she didn't show her true emotions. Her eyes shimmered with tears as she said, "I just came to see her. I didn't expect that. Before I could say a few words, Harper rushed at me like crazy. I was almost scared to death."
"What did you say?" Francis' beautiful eyes looked deep into hers, and the meaning was unclear.
Chloe didn't expect Francis to persist in questioning like this. Being looked at by such a handsome man like him, no matter how many times, she couldn't help but feel flustered.
Her eyes fluttered, and she said with a hint of crying in her voice. "I just asked her what had happened and why she looked so bad. Who knew she suddenly rushed over and hit me."
Francis stared at her swollen face and said in a cold and indifferent voice, "Did you say something to provoke her?"
Chloe denied vehemently, "No, of course, I wouldn't say anything to provoke her. It's her who kept saying that we killed the child."
She wheeled closer to Francis to grab his clothes and pitifully said, "Francis, I was really scared. You don't know how terrifying she was just now. She hit me with a bottle and even stepped on me with her feet. Look, my arms and knees are bruised."
As she spoke, she lifted her clothes to show Francis the wounds on her arms and knees.
These wounds, including the slap marks on her face, were all real, and none were fake.
Francis slightly furrowed his brows, and Chloe felt particularly pleased inside.
Francis must be feeling sorry for her.
She suppressed her joy and tentatively said, "Francis, with Harper in this state now. Don't you really need to send her to a mental hospital? I feel like she's crazy."
"That's not your business."
Francis said that expressionlessly, but his handsome face was softened by the gentle light, appearing less distant.
He continued to say, "The people who kidnapped you a few days ago..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Chloe hurriedly interrupted, "Francis, did you catch them? If you did, you must make those bastards pay a heavy price," she said with a tone full of hatred.
"No," Francis seemed to glance at Chloe casually and said, "Those people all fell off a cliff."
Chloe indignantly said, "They deserved it. It's their retribution."
This outcome was within her expectations.
Because someone she hired tampered with the brake pads on the car, this group wouldn’t choose an open street to escape. They would definitely pick the nearest Summit Ridge Road.
Summit Ridge Road was lined with cliffs on both sides. Once they drove up, those people would undoubtedly die.
Chloe felt relieved. After being aggrieved for so many days, she finally emerged victorious.
She not only made Harper lose her child but also resolved her worries.
From now on, Francis should only feel disdain for that crazy woman.
Now, it was time for her to show herself well.
"Francis, thank you for saving me once again."
She emphasized once again, causing Francis' brows to furrow involuntarily.
He thought of the scene where he saw Harper lying on the hospital bed, and his heart felt as if it had been burned and extremely uncomfortable.
Unexpectedly, Chloe reached out to hug him.
She buried her entire face in Francis' arms. Her tears were streaming down as she said, "If it weren't for you, I don't know what would have happened to me now. I might have gone crazy like Harper."
Just as Francis was about to push her away, the door was suddenly kicked open.
Molly entered and saw the scene before her. With a mocking smile on her face, she said, "It seems like I came at such a bad time as to interrupt your intimacy."
Francis' expression darkened upon hearing this.
Frightened, Chloe hid her face behind Francis and said in alarm, "Why are you barging into my room?"
She knew Molly was Harper's friend, but they weren't familiar, and they had met at a party before.
"Don't mind me. I'll be quick, and you can continue after I leave."
Before entering the room, Molly deliberately applied bright red lipstick so she was now smiling confidently.
Chloe thought Molly had come to find Francis on behalf of Harper. A hint of malice flashed in her eyes, and she was very displeased. "Ms. Koch, this is my hospital room. Please leave."
If it were a year ago, she would have been polite to Molly because the Koch family's influence could barely rival that of the Musk family.
But now, after Robert suppressed the Koch family, their power was not as strong as before. Molly was said to be sacrificing herself to save the company by engaging in sex with men.
Molly not only lost strong family support but also had to rely on having sex with men to achieve her goals, so there was no need to be polite to her.
Molly sneered, "Do you dare to cling to anyone’s husband like this and go out?"
"Why are you saying so?" Chloe glared at her angrily. In her heart, Francis was her husband.
Even if not now, he would be in the future.
It was just a matter of time.
"Am I wrong?" Molly's gaze was sharp on Chloe while her lips curled up.
"Wasn't the woman who just went to Harper’s and acted arrogantly you? You are Francis' mistress."
Chloe's face turned pale from the accusation and shouted hoarsely, "How dare you say I'm his mistress."
"Then who were you just hugging? This is still a hospital, a public place, and you shamelessly embrace someone else's husband privately. You two probably fool around together. Have you no shame?"
As Molly spoke, her eyes scanned them, which showed her disgust evidently.
They were truly despicable.
She had to vent her anger today.
“Of course, Francis understood her sarcasm and said with his chilling tone, "Molly, mind your language."
Thinking of Harper, who was hurt again, Molly was filled with anger and retorted without courtesy.
"The one who really needs to mind their manners isn't me."
She sarcastically said, "There is always a man who perfectly proves all that glitters is not gold, not to mention he’s blind and unable to tell if the woman beside him is a human or a devil."
All her words were mocking and made Francis's jawline tighten.
Molly continued to say, "Mr. Getty, I have an acquaintance who is an ophthalmologist. Would you like to meet him?"
She might as well have said, "I'm insulting you."
Instantly, Francis exuded an aura that could freeze people.
He no longer showed her any courtesy, and his expression went dark as he said, "Get out."
Just as they were having a moment to bond, Molly's interruption left Chloe very angry.
She pretended to speak softly, "Mrs. Koch, did Harper tell you anything that made you come here? But the reality is not as she said. Her mental condition is not very good right now, and her words cannot be fully trusted."
She hinted both directly and indirectly that Harper was a mentally unstable woman.
Molly couldn't help but sneer. Chloe didn't miss any opportunity to tarnish Harper's reputation.
"Chloe, are you implying that Harper instigated me to come and pick a fight with you?" Molly said.
"I didn't mean that. I just found her recent behavior frightening. I was just reminding you," Chloe replied.
Molly chuckled, "It seems like I need to make myself clearer, so you can't pretend to be ignorant anymore."
