Chapter 84 Being Cheated

When Abigail entered, she could feel the tense atmosphere between Harper and Francis.

She was furious and immediately scolded Francis aggressively.

"Harper is pregnant now, so don't anger her anymore. You’d better not stay here, go to the doctor, and bring back the ultrasound report."

Abigail had her own plans and knew men would never be as sensitive as women.

Harper's pregnancy was confirmed through a blood test, and later, Abigail went to have a prenatal ultrasound.

She thought Francis’s heart would soften when he saw their baby's tiny picture with his own eyes.

Abigail thought that Francis would then be nice to Harper.

Seeing that Harper didn't look well, Francis didn't want to continue arguing. He turned around to leave, going to the doctor instead.

The doctor gave him a copy of the ultrasound report and mumbled, "Your wife is fifteen weeks pregnant, but the development of the fetus is still slow. Make sure she gets enough nutrition."

Francis stared at the doctor with a cold look. "Did you say how many weeks pregnant she is?"

The doctor was frightened by his gaze and checked the ultrasound report again, stuttering, "Fifteen weeks..."

Francis's hand involuntarily tightened, and his handsome face was filled with disbelief.

He thought, ‘How could it be fifteen weeks?’

At that time, he remembered clearly that he had been dealing with matters at the overseas branch and hadn't come back for a whole month.

In the hospital room, Abigail was watching Harper drink soup. When she saw Francis come in, she put down the bowl and asked, "Did you bring it back?"

"Yes," Francis replied with extremely coldness in his eyes.

Abigail didn't pay much attention to it. When she got up in a hurry, she suddenly felt dizzy. Francis held her arm in time.

Abigail was in poor health, and these past few days spent with Harper in the countryside had depleted her energy. Francis ordered someone to send Abigail back to rest.

Abigail didn't want to leave and said, "I still have to take care of Harper."

Francis said coldly, "I will take care of her."

Abigail wanted Francis and Harper to be together again, so naturally, she was happy to see it happen. She obediently went back.

Before leaving, Francis told Abigail, "Mom, don't tell my grandpa about Harper's pregnancy for now."

Abigail was taken aback. "Why? If he knows, he would definitely get better from his illness."

Francis vaguely replied, "Wait until it's more stable."

Abigail thought about it and nodded. Harper was still in the early stages of the pregnancy, so it would be better to tell Dylan when it's more stable.

She left after nodding.

Harper listened beside, feeling strange. She had thought that Francis would tell her grandfather about her pregnancy because if her grandfather knew about it, the divorce would become difficult.

She didn’t want to hurt Dylan's heart. But she didn't expect that Francis would ask Abigail not to say anything. Harper didn't know what Francis was up to. Just as she hesitated, she saw him walking over with no gentleness in his eyes.

Harper was stunned by his gaze and instinctively clenched her hands. Then, he stopped about a step away from the bed, with distinct facial features. Every line on his face was harsh.

With a flick of his slender fingers, a color ultrasound report slipped onto the table in front of Harper. "You have been pregnant for fifteen weeks. Don’t you want to explain it?"

Harper was a bit confused. She picked up the ultrasound report and looked at it. It clearly showed that she was fifteen weeks pregnant. She thought, ‘How could it be...’

She clearly remembered it was only a little over two months. She thought, ‘Why did this ultrasound report show that I am more than three months pregnant? My menstrual circle is always irregular, so could it be that I remembered the dates wrong? But that didn't make sense either.’

She remembered they last had sex was on the night of the party when Francis returned from studying abroad. Because they had been separated for nearly a month, they did it twice in the corridor that night. They had a wild night that day... The anticipation in Francis's eyes gradually disappeared when he saw that Harper was silent. It was soon replaced by endless disappointment.

He coldly asked, "Don't you have anything to say?"

Harper looked at the ultrasound report and thought that she should double-check it. It's possible that the hospital made a mistake. Her hesitation in Francis's eyes appeared as guilt, and he felt a deep heartache. His handsome face was full of desolation.

"No wonder... No wonder you said this is your own child."

"No, it's not..." Harper instinctively wanted to explain, but Francis had already crazily grabbed her shoulder and shouted, "Explain! Explain it to me!" He gripped her shoulder tightly, causing great pain to Harper, who felt as if her bones were going to be crushed. But Harper bit her lip and endured it.

Francis's actions told her that there was no trust between them.

Harper thought, ‘No wonder he told Abigail not to tell Dylan about my pregnancy. He had already chosen not to believe me from the bottom of his heart from the moment he received this ultrasound report. Since he has already made up his mind, is there any need for an explanation? Anyway, no matter what I say, he wouldn't believe me.’

Harper’s charming eyes were slightly moist as she stubbornly looked at Francis. "I have nothing to explain."

"Ha-ha!" Francis suddenly laughed bitterly. "Harper, you hate me so much that you won't even lie to me? Do you know how happy I was when I heard you were pregnant?"

He was ecstatic when he learned that Harper was pregnant, but now his ecstasy was shattered. He was furious.

He always thought Harper was only emotionally cheating. He thought he would find a way to win her heart back.

But he never expected her infidelity to go as far as a physical affair.

Francis thought, ‘Three months? Humph!’

Thinking about how many times he touched her over those three months suddenly made Francis feel disgusted.

He has an obsession with cleanliness when it comes to women.

And now he felt he was dirty.

Francis gritted his teeth and said, "Who is that man? Is it that man's surname, Bolton? Or is it my uncle Aurelio?"

Francis thought of the day at the funeral parlor when Aurelio and Harper shook hands and the deep meaning behind Aurelio's response.

His eyes filled with cold light. "How could you be so foolish? He is my uncle. You are so despicable!"

Word by word, Francis once again broke Harper's heart, which hadn’t recovered from the previous grief.

Tears welled up in her eyes, but she stubbornly held them back.

After two years of living together, she is so unbearable in his eyes.

She should never have had any expectations of him!

If this misunderstanding could free her from this suffocating marriage and if it could prevent her child from being taken away, she was willing to be misunderstood.

"If that's the case, then let's get divorced quickly," Harper said in the affirmative.

Francis narrowed his eyes, his breath turning heavy. "You're the one who cheated, and you're the one who got pregnant with someone else's child. Yet you still have the audacity to bring up divorce to me?"

Harper laughed upon hearing that, and she asked sarcastically, "Since you're so certain the child isn't yours, are you planning to keep him? Unfortunately, even if you're willing to, I don't want the baby to have someone else as his father."

Harper's words were like a sharp sword piercing Francis' heart.

A bloody scent rose in his throat as he laughed coldly. "Say it again."

At this moment, Francis was filled with an icy coldness. He glared at Harper as if he was about to kill Harper.

Harper was sure that if she uttered a single word now, he would not hesitate to strangle Harper.
But now, Harper only wanted a divorce.

Even if Francis really strangled her to death, she would not retreat as long as she could get a divorce.

She looked at his ferocious expression and smiled smugly, "Francis, I'm sick of you. I cheated on you. The child is not yours. We're getting divorced, and our paths go separate ways from now on."
She didn’t want to see Francis in this lifetime.

There came a short silence.

The temperature in the entire hospital room dropped to freezing, like a terrifying and eerie hell.

"You are asking for it!"

Francis’s veins bulged on his large hand as he reached for Harper’s neck with a threatening gesture.
