Chapter 367 I Miss You Very Much
Harper felt totally lost.
She was like, 'How the heck do I still have feelings for Francis after losing my memory? Ugh, I'm so mad at myself.'
She snapped, "I wasn't making excuses; I was seriously busy."
Francis gave her this intense look, "Busy yesterday and the day before?"
Harper was caught off guard, feeling like she'd been under a microscope lately.
Was Francis saying he knew she was just making excuses?
She shot back, "Are you spying on me?"
"I just wanted to know what you were up to, so I had Victor check."
Francis didn't even try to hide that he'd had Victor track her.
But when he found out Harper was chilling at home with her dog instead of visiting him in the hospital, he got so mad he couldn't even eat, which messed up his stomach and caused some serious bleeding.
He said in a low voice, "You should know that when I'm not working in the hospital, I'm thinking about you."
Harper's face got all hot. Francis's sweet talk was so smooth, it was like second nature to him.
Francis suddenly grabbed her hand, pressed it to his chest, and said, "Here, my heart's all yours. No one else has ever been in here."
His sudden confession made Harper's face turn as red as a tomato.
She tried to pull her hand back, but Francis held on tight.
His eyes were all intense as he said, "Harper, give me a shot. Can we start over?"
Harper was stunned, her heart racing.
After a bit, she stammered, "N-no, we can't."
"You clearly still care about me, why not?" Francis asked.
Harper's mind went blank, and she blurted out, "Jasper won't agree."
Francis's eyes got even more intense, "If you agree, I can convince Jasper."
Jasper was so stubborn. Francis probably didn't know that once Jasper made up his mind, he wouldn't budge.
Harper was super curious about what made Francis so sure he could convince Jasper.
"How are you gonna convince Jasper?" Harper asked.
"Don't worry about that. If he agrees, we can be together," Francis said confidently.
Harper got anxious and said, "What do you mean 'be together'? I didn't agree."
"Don't try to back out. I'll convince Jasper," Francis said confidently.
It was getting late. Harper tried to pull her hand back, saying, "I gotta go."
Francis held on, his voice rough, "Not tonight. Stay with me, okay?"
Harper suddenly thought of Francis's sexy body on the hospital bed that night and his alluring face when he was turned on.
Her face turned red. If she stayed, who knew what might happen again.
Harper quickly refused, "No, I need to go back. Jasper will start looking for me soon."
Last time, after lying to Isla at night, she still got caught.
So lately, Jasper had been checking on her more strictly, sometimes video calling her at night for surprise inspections.
Seeing her shy face, Francis knew she was thinking about that night.
His eyes got even more intense. A proper talk with Jasper seemed urgent. Only if Jasper agreed could he openly keep her.
Even though Francis didn't want to let her go, he didn't want to make Harper uncomfortable.
He said, "You can go, but you gotta kiss me to make up for the past two days."
Harper's ears got hot, and she couldn't help but say, "Why's that?"
Francis said seriously, "My stomach hurts. I need comfort."
Harper had no choice. She quickly kissed him. Just that light touch made her face turn red. It was the first time she'd been so forward.
"I'll head out." Harper looked up and met Francis's deeply smiling eyes.
Her heart seemed to skip a beat. She turned her face away, eager to leave.
"Looks like you still haven't learned. Let me be your teacher," Francis blurted out.
"What?" Harper said, totally confused.
Francis suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist, and with a slight pull, Harper found herself sitting on his lap.
Just as Harper was wondering what he was up to, he lowered his head and kissed her.
This wasn't some playful peck; it was a deep, intense kiss. He held her face, his tongue exploring her mouth, swapping spit with her.
Harper tried to protest, but all that came out were broken syllables.
Francis's kissing game was on point.
Her mind went blank, her heart raced, and she had no strength to think about anything else, just being held in his arms, kissed until her face was burning.
After what felt like forever, Francis finally let her go.
His voice was hoarse, murmuring, "That's what a kiss is."
Harper's face was so red it seemed like it would burst. She tried to get off his lap.
He held her tightly, his voice husky, "Let me hold you a bit longer. I missed you so much these past two days."
Francis didn't feel there was anything he couldn't say, especially to Harper.
He was willing to say all the sweet things he had never said in his life to her. "I really missed you. I even dreamed about you, but you still ignored me."
Harper heard a bit of humility and grievance in Francis's voice. It was hard to imagine that such a high and mighty guy would speak in such a lowly tone.
Harper suddenly didn't know what to say.
Francis didn't push too much. Before letting her go, he said, "Tomorrow, I want to have the oatmeal you make."
For five years, he had always remembered that taste.
The oatmeal Harper made was the best he had ever had.
The Murphy family had many servants, and Harper hadn't cooked in five years, but it sounded simple enough.
She agreed readily, "Okay, let me go. I really need to leave."
Francis gave her another quick kiss before reluctantly letting her go.
Then, he got up and said, "I'll walk you out."
Harper's eyes widened as she refused, "No, you're still a patient."
"I'm fine," Francis insisted.
He just wanted to spend more time with Harper, even if it was just a minute longer.
Although Francis's face was as charming and handsome as ever, there was still a hint of illness. He was really pushing himself!
Harper had to put on a stern face and say, "No, or you won't get any oatmeal."
"Then let Victor take you," he compromised reluctantly.
"No need, I have a driver." Harper refused again.
Francis's voice was slightly hoarse as he said, "Let him follow you. It's too late, and I'm worried."
Harper felt a warmth in her heart, a sweet feeling in her throat.
Not long after Harper left, Francis received a call from Audrey.
"Francis..." Audrey's voice was urgent, almost crying. "My dad had a sudden heart attack and is now being rushed to the hospital."
Francis frowned. "How did this happen?"
"I don't know. It happened so quickly. Dad just collapsed to the ground at home." Audrey cried, "I want to ask you, can we postpone the clarification press conference tomorrow? The Hernandez Group has no core figure right now. If this news comes out, it will definitely affect the stock price. I'm begging you, for the sake of our families' long-standing relationship, can we delay it?"
Francis thought for a moment and said, "I will contact the best cardiovascular experts for Felix and do everything to save him."
Audrey breathed a sigh of relief, secretly pleased. This move was a good one.
But the next second, she heard Francis say coldly, "I will give the Hernandez Group half a month to handle any possible changes and stock fluctuations."
Half a month was the most respect Francis could give Felix. And with half a month, the Hernandez Group should be able to manage the crisis.
Anything that might make Harper uncomfortable, Francis wanted to deal with as quickly as possible.
