Chapter 556 Audrey Was Brutally Abused 1

Harper lined up the scissors with the yellow wire and snipped it without a second thought. The sound echoed, and she squeezed her eyes shut, feeling the tension in every muscle.

No explosion. Thank God!

She almost wanted to jump for joy, but there was no time for that. She had to move on to the next bomb site.

Harper grabbed the toolkit she had scavenged from the hotel, slung it over her shoulder, and hurried to the next location. With the first bomb under her belt, she didn't hesitate this time. She pulled out the scissors and went for the fuse.

But instead of a snip, there was a loud bang.

The scissors slipped from Harper's hand as she panicked, dropping to the ground. She crouched down, hands over her head, bracing for the worst.

But nothing happened. Just as she started to lift her head, she felt the cold barrel of a gun against her skull. Harper froze.

Royce Castillo, a member of Stanley's Shadow Team dressed in all black, glanced at her and said, "You're the woman Mr. Charles is looking for!"

He looked back at the bomb site and saw the fuse had been cut. Turning back to Harper, disbelief in his eyes, he asked, "Did you cut it?"

Harper kept her head down, silent. Royce grabbed her chin and struck her mouth with the butt of his gun, making her teeth bleed. Spitting out blood, Harper admitted, "Yeah, it was me."

"How did you know it was the yellow one?" Royce demanded.

"Just a wild guess," Harper replied.

Royce eyed her warily, no longer seeing her as just some ordinary woman. "Come with me, and don't try anything funny, or I'll shoot you!"

He twisted her hands behind her back, trying to tie them up with a rope. Harper cried out in pain as he did so.

Seeing her tears, Royce let his guard down a bit. It was almost funny that such a seemingly useless woman had dared to cut the wire.

Just as he was underestimating her, Harper reached for his neck.

A buzzing sound followed. It was the stun gun Harper had in her bag for self-defense. She hadn't taken her full luggage with her now, just this life-saving device, which was small and easy to hide.

The surprise attack caught Royce off guard, and he was electrocuted, grimacing in pain. His eyes widened, his body convulsed, and he cursed, "I'll kill you!"

Even after the shock, Royce's endurance was impressive. He was still quick enough to grab Harper's wrist.

The portable stun gun wasn't as powerful as a stun baton, and Royce had dodged some of the shock. It hurt him, but the effect was short-lived, and he could still fight back.

Harper struggled desperately, jabbing the stun gun at his wrist, causing a small cut. She seized the moment, targeting the wound and continuously applying the electric shock, making Royce's wrist go numb with pain.

Royce cursed and pulled his hand back, clutching his wrist and squatting down in agony. Harper took the chance to bolt.

The hotel rooms' doors were all closed, leaving nowhere to hide. She could hear Royce's footsteps getting closer.

"Stop! You can't escape! Stop!" Royce shouted, his patience remarkable even with an injured hand. He informed Stanley through the walkie-talkie, "Mr. Charles, I found the woman, pursuing her on the 7th floor!"

On Stanley's end, his expression shifted slightly upon hearing the update. Turning back, he smiled at Audrey and said, "I'm sorry, Ms. Hernandez. She showed up late, not my fault."

Audrey's head rested on her arm, blood pooling around her. Her mouth was a bloody mess, and a piece of flesh on the ground seemed to be part of her lips.

Stanley had actually cut off her mouth!

Audrey lay on the ground, feeling utterly hopeless. She didn't even have time to explain before Stanley did this to her. How could there be such a madman in the world, who would act without a word?

Stanley found it boring to see Audrey lying there like a dead person. In his eyes, Audrey was a useless and failed woman. Abandoned by Francis, she had done so many bad things but couldn't even deal with an ordinary rival.

Stanley took a silk handkerchief, wiped his hands clean, and then wiped the blood splatters in front of him, smiling, "Since Harper has appeared, I'll spare your life for Mr. Hernandez's sake. You should be grateful to him."

Audrey's face was ashen. Not far from where she lay, there was a decorative mirror for the venue. In that mirror, she looked like a terrifying and hideous monster, too ugly to bear looking at.

Why! She was born proud, considering herself superior, how could she be treated like this, like trash?

"Mr. Charles," Audrey called weakly, "You've been deceived by Francis. I know who killed your wife."

This piqued Stanley's interest. He stopped and walked back, asking, "Who?"

In truth, Stanley didn't really love Ari that much as the world believed. It was just that, after all these years, he had rarely found someone who, like him, had a natural inclination for evil, except for his lated wife. The person who killed Aria was undoubtedly provoking him. So Stanley took the risk to find Francis, to prove that his authority could not be challenged.

Audrey's bloody lips moved, "It was..."

Stanley didn't catch it and squatted down, asking again, "Who? Speak louder!"

"It was Richardson..." Audrey managed to say, which piqued Stanley's interest. He quickly tried to recall if he had any enemies named Richardson.

But before he could think further, he felt a numbness in his arm, like a mosquito bite. Stanley looked down and saw a syringe stuck in his arm. Audrey, with her bloody mouth, was grinning at him in a grotesque and eerie manner.

He reached for his gun immediately, but it was too late. The numbness spread throughout his body; he had been injected with a high-dose anesthetic, and the reaction time was only a second.

"You..." Stanley only had time to say one word before he collapsed to the ground.

Audrey laughed like a madwoman. She then slowly stood up, picked up the knife that had cut her mouth, and stabbed down fiercely.

She went berserk, repeatedly stabbing at Stanley's face. In an instant, his handsome, refined features were reduced to a bloody mess.

She laughed and stabbed, muttering, "You deserve it! YOU DESERVE IT!"

Who would have thought that the mighty Stanley would end up dying at the hands of a woman, a woman he looked down upon!

It wasn't until the face was completely unrecognizable that Audrey dropped the knife. Then she carefully observed Stanley's face, even touching it gently with her hand, laughing and muttering, "Now it looks better. See how evenly I stabbed you? Your technique was too poor; you need more practice next time."

Audrey seemed to have completely lost her mind. She crawled on the ground, picked up the delicate little handgun, and wobbled to her feet.

"Hide well, I'm coming to find you."

The entire corridor echoed with her terrifying laughter.

Meanwhile, Harper didn't dare stop, speeding up towards the elevator. Taking the stairs was unwise at this point; she wasn't as physically strong as Royce and could only risk taking the elevator.

Once inside, Harper frantically pressed multiple floor buttons and then immediately close the door. The footsteps grew closer, just as they reached the elevator, it finally closed in time.

Harper let out a long sigh of relief. But now she faced an even greater threat: the unknown danger that might be waiting when the elevator doors opened!

She had dropped everything earlier and now only had the stun gun in her hand, gripping it tightly.

When the elevator opened, it seemed empty outside. Just as Harper let her guard down, a large hand suddenly reached in and pulled her out.

"Let go of me!" Harper closed her eyes and tried to use the stun gun, but it made no sound; after one use, it was out of power. Desperation took over as she swung the device wildly, using it as a blunt weapon in her defense.

"Let go! Let go!" She was terrified.

"Harper," a familiar voice stopped her frenzy. Harper looked up and saw Francis, his eyes filled with concern, and she froze.

"Francis," her voice choked as she called out.

Francis's eyes reddened, "I'm here."

"Francis!" Harper threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly.

She had been alone in the vast hotel, doing dangerous things and facing unknown threats. She was so scared and helpless. But no matter how scared she was, she had to keep going. However, when she saw Francis, her facade of toughness crumbled instantly. Her pretty face was covered in tears, looking both pitiful and fragile.

Francis's heart ached, holding her tightly, "Harper,"

"I was so angry and scared. You..." Harper had a lot of complaints, but seeing Francis standing there with a limp and his pants stained with blood, she was stunned.

"Are you okay? Your leg..." Harper broke free and squatted down, her eyes red. "Did Stanley hurt your leg?"

"It's nothing." Francis didn't want Harper to focus on his leg, pulling her up and asking, "What about you? Are you hurt?"

He looked at her, his eyes no longer cold and indifferent but filled with genuine concern.

Feeling Francis's real warmth, Harper's heart, which had been pounding with fear, finally calmed down. Although they had many unpleasant moments before, at this moment, in the face of life and death, those seemed trivial. Neither Francis nor Harper wanted to waste time explaining the past mess.

"I..." Harper was about to speak when the sound of a gun being cocked interrupted her.

Harper and Francis both froze. Behind them, Royce had caught up, pointing a gun at them, "Hands up, don't move!"

Harper's back stiffened as she raised her hands, and Francis cooperated as well.

Royce was very displeased with Harper's earlier attack and was determined to teach her a lesson. He pointed the gun at Harper and said, "Let her come over."

"No!" Francis refused without hesitation. He raised his hands, limping to shield Harper, "No way!"

"You're asking for it!" Royce fired a shot.

"Watch out!" Harper quickly pulled Francis. They both rolled to the ground, and Francis pulled out a smoke bomb, throwing it.

Instantly, the elevator area was enveloped in thick smoke. In the smoke, several people coughed, unable to see each other.

Two more gunshots rang out; Royce was now firing indiscriminately.

Harper was tightly held by Francis, hiding in a corner. Seeing the smoke quickly dissipating, Francis patted Harper's back and gave her a look. Then, he crawled over, grabbed Royce's leg, and performed a takedown!

Royce fell, dropping his gun, and the two began to grapple.

Royce was cunning, targeting Francis's injured leg with every move. Blood continued to pour from Francis's wound, and he began to lose ground. Royce took the opportunity to grab Francis's head and slam it into the cold floor!

"Stop!" Harper shouted. Royce ignored her, continuing to slam Francis's head.

In desperation, Harper saw the gun on the ground, quickly picked it up, and aimed at Royce, "Move again, and I'll shoot!"
