Chapter 169 Just Want to Make Money off Him

Rhodes stretched out his long legs, his waist was relaxed, and his shirt was unbuttoned except for one, revealing a large expanse of well-defined chest muscles.

Harper was stunned for a moment.

It wasn't until the disheveled woman scolded her, "Get out of here!" that she snapped back to reality, her face heating up. She apologized and started to leave.

Before she could close the door, Rhodes called out to her.

"Wait."

Harper froze again, standing at the door with her back to it.

She didn't know if she should leave now.

Rhodes looked at her slender back and almost laughed in exasperation.

"Wait for me downstairs," he said deeply.

Harper's face turned red, and she quickly ran downstairs.

The woman in the study saw the door close again and leaned over, her body soft and delicate.

But Rhodes, who was sitting there, seemed oblivious, exuding a cold indifference.

Just a moment ago, she thought Rhodes was somewhat moved, but now he was so indifferent.

Instantly, she cursed the girl who had barged in.

"Stella, get out."

Rhodes stood up coldly, straightened his clothes, fastened his belt, and his expression was as cold as ice.

It was as if his slight moment of emotion just now had never existed.

Stella didn't want to give up.

She was a top student at Northfield University and had been introduced to become Rhodes' assistant in the country.

From the moment she saw Rhodes at the airport, she had hopelessly fallen in love with this experienced man.

Although his resume said he was 35, he didn't look like a man over 30.

His features were impeccably handsome and noble, and his privileged background and excellent education made his every move exude an elegance refined by time and made him feel like a strong, aromatic wine, rich and enticing.

Later, because of work, she accompanied him to the equestrian centerand the hot spring club, and saw his blood-pumping muscle lines, which made her even more infatuated with this outstanding man.

Today, she wore a seductive fragrance and entered the study under the pretext of delivering important documents, all of which were part of her deliberate plan.

She successfully unbuttoned his shirt and pants, and just as she was about to succeed, an unknown woman interrupted her plan.

All her efforts were in vain!

Stella gathered her courage again, her hand reaching for Rhodes' belt buckle, her voice soft and sweet. "Mr. Getty, I can give you..."

She was willing to perform oral sex on him, but she feared saying it out loud would make Rhodes think less of her, so she deliberately left it unsaid, her actions clear as she knelt at his feet.

Rhodes frowned, his expression displeased. "Don't."

As he spoke, he pushed Stella's hands away.

He didn't know what was wrong with him today, feeling restless and agitated, and had inadvertently let Stella undress him.

Stella, who was kneeling, was caught off guard by the push and fell to the ground.

Her face was right in front of the desk, and she saw a gold-framed photo, which prominently featured a woman.

Her face turned pale instantly!

A bold idea hit her.

'Could it be that Rhodes' slight moment of emotion was directed at this photo?'

Rhodes also noticed her gaze on the photo, and his face immediately darkened.

"Get out," he said without any courtesy.

Instantly, Stella's face turned extremely livid.

Since she started working, Rhodes had always been polite to her, never like this.

Feeling a wave of embarrassment, she couldn't stay any longer and had to make her exit, scheming for a comeback some other time.

She stood up, straightened her clothes, and apologized to Rhodes with a pale face, "Mr. Getty, I'm sorry. I'll leave now."

Before turning around, Stella looked at his handsome face with longing, hoping he would ask her to stay, but there was only silence.

Rhodes didn't even spare her a glance.

Stella felt very disappointed.

Stella went downstairs and saw the girl sitting on the sofa waiting for Rhodes.

The soft cashmere sweater accentuated her slender waist, her fair and beautiful cheeks looked delicate, and her upturned eyes were captivating.

She had to admit that this girl was indeed very attractive.

She had a face that could make men fall in love at first sight.

They looked at each other; Harper said nothing, and neither did Stella.

A familiar feeling suddenly overwhelmed Stella, and she thought of the photo on the desk.

The woman in the photo had features that overlapped with this girl's!

But their ages didn't match; this one looked much younger.

She breathed a sigh of relief, so that's how it was.

As she walked past Harper in her high heels, she arrogantly said, "What are you doing in Mr. Getty's house?"

Harper knew she had erred by interrupting them, so she apologized and explained, "I'm the governess."

"Governess?" Stella asked

Stella repeated maliciously, "You're just using the title to seduce Mr. Getty, aren't you?"

Harper was speechless.

Rhodes was indeed very charming; so many people thought she was trying to seduce him.

But she swore to God thatshe just wanted to earn his money.

Seeing Harper's silence, Stella thought she had admitted it and spoke even more rudely.

"Girls like you, who pretend to be innocent, I've seen plenty. You use work as an excuse to get what you want. You are truly despicable!"

Harper felt speechless and said, "Miss, please don't impose your thoughts onto others."

Stella was stunned by her retort, unable to argue, and could only say hatefully, "You think Mr. Getty likes you? You're just a substitute, and your face may help you. But that's all."

Harper, hearing this, asked cautiously, "What do you mean?"

Stella blurted out, "You look like the woman in the study..."

Before she could finish, Rhodes' deep voice interrupted.

"Ms. Walker—"

It was Rhodes coming down from upstairs, dressed in a suit, looking sharp.

Stella immediately fell silent and thought Rhodes was going to ask her to stay, so she stood there meekly.

Rhodes approached and instructed, "Don't forget to settle your salary with finance tomorrow."

"What?"

Stella thought she had misheard; she looked up with a charming smile and asked again, "Mr. Getty, what did you say?"

Rhodes said casually, "Starting tomorrow, you will no longer be my assistant."

Stella bit her lip and pretended to look pitiful. "What? Mr. Getty, what do you mean?"

Rhodes' patience ran out. "Ms. Walker, do you have a hearing problem?"

Harper found this amusing but knew it wasn't the right time, so she kept her head down.

Stella's eyes turned red; she wanted to say something, but seeing Rhodes' impatient expression, she didn't dare, fearing to anger him further.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Getty."

With that, she left, covering her face and crying.

At this moment, Rhodes' gaze fell on Harper's face, his Adam's apple moving slightly.

Harper knew he was about to scold her for barging into his study.

She didn't want to lose her job, so she obediently admitted her mistake.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Getty. Noah asked me to get a book. I didn't know it is your study."

Noah, watching the scene from the second-floor railing, felt a pang of annoyance.

He didn't expect her to confess so quickly.

Rhodes' study was off-limits; even Noah hadn't been inside.

So he deliberately sent Harper in, planning to report her and get her fired when Rhodes returned.

But Rhodes came back with a woman in the study.

He didn't know that.

If he had known, he wouldn't have done it!

Rhodes didn't look up but called out deeply, "Come down here."
