Chapter 634 Don't Let Anything Happen This Time
Rhett paid a hefty price, with the skin on the back of his hand completely torn off.
Exposing the red flesh underneath, it looked grotesque and painfully alarming.
"You trying to kill me?" Rhett snarled.
"Exaggerating much? How else was I supposed to get your hand out?" Molly said.
Of course, she could have been gentler, but she wasn't; she pulled hard.
Rhett, though not destined to die, deserved some punishment. Otherwise, if doing bad things had no cost, he would continue doing them.
Rhett gritted his teeth, wanting to curse, but his left hand was now useless, unable to lift.
He knew Molly was smart, but he didn't expect her to be this smart, making his hand injury worse, thus reducing his threat level significantly.
Rhett cursed inwardly but still had to rely on Molly to get him out of the car.
"Ms. Koch, please get me out of here. It's too dangerous." Rhett looked at the smoking car hood, feeling scared.
Molly saw the situation was indeed urgent. Ignoring her own pain, she pried open the deformed car door and dragged Rhett out.
Finally, Rhett was pulled onto the road, away from the danger zone. He lay on the ground, gasping for breath.
Molly picked up Rhett's phone to call 911, only to find that his phone couldn't make emergency calls without being unlocked.
Most phones had this feature, allowing emergency calls even when locked.
It seemed Rhett's phone was custom-made.
Molly looked at Rhett lying on the ground, still looking very weak. She let her guard down a bit and walked over to ask, "What's the password?"
Rhett weakly said, "You can use facial recognition."
"Facial recognition?" Molly held the phone up to his face, but it couldn't unlock because of the blood on his face.
Rhett said, "Squat down, get closer, and it will unlock."
Molly squatted down as instructed, holding the phone close to Rhett's face, but she remained vigilant, watching Rhett's movements.
Sure enough, the phone unlocked because of the proximity.
This made Molly breathe a sigh of relief and distracted her a bit. Just as she stood up to make the call, Rhett, who had seemed very weak, suddenly jumped up and grabbed Molly's neck with his arm.
Molly's phone fell to the ground, and her face turned red from lack of oxygen.
Rhett's eyes were fierce as he said, "I'll kill you, bitch. I could have disappeared without a trace, but you had to make me dirty my hands."
Molly knew Rhett was ungrateful. Saving him, he still thought about how to kill her.
Molly realized Rhett had no conscience and didn't care that he had a two-year-old child at home.
Rhett's earlier words were just to trick her.
Molly punched and kicked, struggling desperately, but Rhett sneered, "Struggling is useless. I'm going to kill you today."
His earlier weakness was half an act. He was indeed weak from crashing into a tree, but not as badly as he pretended.
Dealing with an equally injured Molly was still easy for him.
Molly was being choked too tightly to exert her strength, but luckily she had just torn off a layer of skin from Rhett's hand, giving him a weak spot.
She struggled to grab Rhett's hand, using all her strength to dig her nails into Rhett's already mangled flesh, making it look terrifying!
Rhett screamed in pain, loosening his grip.
Molly seized the opportunity, digging her fingers into Rhett's injured hand, creating five more holes, and exposing the bone.
"Bitch! Let go!" Rhett felt like he was going to die from the pain and flung Molly away.
Molly lay on the ground, finally able to breathe freely. She looked at the sky, gasping for air. As soon as she regained a bit of strength, she got up and limped into the woods.
Rhett recovered, quickly picked up the phone from the ground, and prepared to follow her.
He turned back, found a crowbar at the rear of the car, and held it in his hand, shouting, "Bitch, I'll find you and kill you!"
Rhett stepped into the dense forest, saying as he walked, "Don't think you can hide. It's useless. I'll find you!"
With that, he disappeared into the forest.
Robert got into the car and played the recorded call.
He knew both had abandoned their cars after the crash.
But Rhett had called Zack after the crash, and he wanted to listen to find some clues to deduce their approximate location.
In the recording, Zack's voice came through. "Why is it taking so long? Is it done yet?"
Rhett took a breath before answering, "Not yet. I almost crashed. This crazy woman made a sharp turn, sending the car into the grass, making me unable to stop and crash into a tree."
Zack paused and said, "She might not be as strong as you, but she's very smart. Be careful dealing with her."
"I know. Bitch, I'm going to kill her today."
Molly had deliberately flipped the car to make him crash into the crooked tree ahead.
Rhett was no longer following Zack's orders but was driven by a deep-seated killing intent to kill Molly.
Zack didn't trust Rhett's clumsiness, always feeling he would mess things up.
He thought for a moment and said, "Forget it. You should leave the country early. Go now, and I'll handle the rest."
Zack planned to get rid of Sloane and get Molly a mental illness certificate, so whatever she said would be considered crazy talk, not admissible as evidence.
But Rhett didn't think so. He said unwillingly, "Give me another half hour. I'll catch up to her soon."
"Didn't you crash?" Zack asked. "Where are you now?"
"She ran along this dirt road. I'm chasing her now." Rhett's voice suddenly cut off.
The call ended there.
Listening to the end of the call, Robert felt a surge of anxiety, "Molly, you've always been lucky. Don't let anything happen this time!"
Robert's eyes narrowed sharply, and he accelerated, the car speeding forward.
