Chapter 185 Waiting for Her to Ask for Help

Harper didn't go down for long before she saw Francis standing by the tree, glancing at her as she descended.

Harper didn't want to see him, so she walked further down and sat in the shade, waiting for Noah.

It was very hot at noon halfway up the mountain, and Harper felt her throat was very dry.

But the only bottle of water had just rolled away and disappeared.

There were still two days ahead. She still didn't know how to get through them, and Noah probably wouldn't give her any water unless she admitted defeat.

Harper saw Francis walking down from above and immediately closed her eyes, thinking, 'Out of sight is out of mind.'

As he passed by, a familiar scent of perfume wafted over.

Harper heard a thud and opened her eyes to see Francis had thrown down a half-drunk bottle of mineral water.

She frowned, thinking how she hadn't noticed before that he was so uncivilized, littering everywhere.

Bored, she looked at the water bottle, and under the sunlight, she could faintly see water inside.

Harper couldn't believe it. She rubbed her eyes and saw clearly that there was about half a bottle left.

She resisted for five minutes, and after another five minutes, she couldn't hold back anymore and moved towards the bottle.

Picking up the bottle, Harper had a complicated expression.

She comforted herself; at least she knew Francis wasn't sick.

The water sparkled under the sun, tempting her, and her throat was very dry.

Harper made up her mind and unscrewed the cap but didn't drink directly from the bottle. Instead, she tilted her head slightly and poured the water into her mouth.

There was only half a bottle, so she didn't dare drink too much, just sipped a few times.

Just as she put down the bottle, Harper saw Francis returning, arms crossed, squinting slightly, standing in front of her.

His look was as if she was a pervert, drinking from a bottle he had used.

Harper immediately started coughing, her face turning red.

Francis reached out his hand, and Harper thought he was going to take the bottle, so she instinctively hid it in her arms, hurriedly saying, "I'll pay you back when we get down."

Francis's pale hand stiffened, and after a moment, he said coldly, "No need."

Seeing his dark expression, Harper guessed he didn't want any further contact with her.

Fine, she didn't want to either. Couldn't a wealthy boss like him afford a bottle of water?

Francis watched as Harper carefully put the bottle into her bag like a treasure, his eyes darkening.

Noah and Lily had already come up while they were still in tension.

Noah looked very annoyed, his blue hair a mess.

Seeing Francis, he threw Lily onto Francis and said irritably, "Francis, take care of your own woman."

He had come in the morning, and it was all Lily's fault. She clung to his arm like she had no legs, hanging on all the way up.

Lily was also very aggrieved. If she had known, she wouldn't have followed Francis even if she had been given a million dollars.

She clung to Francis's arm coquettishly and said, "Francis, I want to go back. Can you go back with me?"

Francis glanced at her and said, "I'll have my man take you down."

Lily's face changed, knowing that meant he wanted her to go back alone.

Last time, Francis said he never wanted to see her again, and she cried all night until her eyes were swollen.

Feeling sorry for her, her parents personally visited Francis and asked him to treat Lily as a friend.

Lily's parents knew well that Lily was stubborn, and they believed that over time, her feelings for Francis would fade.

Francis showed respect to them and didn't drive her away, even kindly bringing Lily to hike.

Now, it seemed he was right; making her retreat in the face of difficulties was the right move.

But Lily thought otherwise; she couldn't just give up.

Especially since his ex-wife was here, if she left, she feared they might get close.

Looking at Francis's handsome face, Lily was instantly filled with strength. Shaking her head firmly, she said, "I stay with you."

She was a sucker for good-looking men.

So far, she hadn't seen anyone more attractive than Francis.

Francis glanced at her and said nothing more.

It was already past noon.

Noah took out various canned foods, letting them choose, giving Harper a slightly provocative look.

He seemed to be saying, "Hungry? Admit you are a loser, and you can have it."

Harper turned her face away.

Soon, the smell of food wafted out, and Harper felt a bit hungry. She took out some beef jerky from her bag, divided it, and ate three pieces to fill her stomach.

Luckily, she was prepared. Although her bag was small, it was filled with practical items.

After they finished, they walked for a while and finally reached the top before nightfall.

Noah had servants set up tents, but he threw Harper's tent to her to set up herself.

Everyone else's tents were set up, but Harper was still hammering stakes. She hit her hand too hard with the hammer and couldn't help but scream, tears welling up.

The next second, she saw Francis looking at her coldly.

She looked up, tears in her eyes, habitually giving him a pleading look.

Receiving his slightly mocking gaze, she immediately lowered her head.

She cursed herself for not learning her lesson.

She forgot he hated her now.

At this moment, Lily called out, "Francis, time for dinner. Noah brought much good stuff, even beer."

Lily was easily bought off, even if it was just with some food.

She became more affectionate towards Noah.

Francis glanced at Harper, who was hammering stakes, feeling he was being foolish to wait for her to ask for help.

He smirked coldly and walked away without hesitation.

After he left, Harper relaxed and sat on the ground.

She laughed self-deprecatingly, not knowing what she was expecting.

Harper struggled for a long time and finally set up the tent.

She had climbed all day, had a rough dinner, and had some water, feeling exhausted.

Ignoring everything, she went into the tent, zipped it up, and started sleeping.

Harper didn't know how long she slept before being awakened by a slight noise.

She cautiously turned on her flashlight, shining it outside, and shouted, "Who's there!"

There seemed to be the sound of someone running away outside, and Harper shrank back. She was afraid to stay in the tent alone.

She gripped her pepper spray, opened the tent, and looked outside, seeing nothing.

But she didn't dare to go back to sleep.

Her tent was on the edge, so Harper thought for a moment and walked towards Lily's tent, which was in the middle.

Just as she reached the tent door, she heard Lily's coquettish and slightly confused voice from inside. "Francis, don't touch there; it tickles."

Harper's face changed, feeling a cold wind pierce her heart.

She stood there stiffly for a few seconds.

Then she turned and walked back.

It was normal that Francis was with another woman.

He had a lot of needs in bed, and he would always fulfill them.

Before she could think more, a hand suddenly covered her mouth in the dark.

Harper woke up with a start, struggling desperately.

But the hand gripped her hair tightly, dragging her into the darkness.
