Chapter 611 We Agreed on This from the Beginning

Max raised his hand, checked his watch, and said, "It's been less than twenty minutes since he left. If you ask the driver to step on it, you should be able to catch up."

Rosie still didn't buy it, thinking, 'If Robert just left, why would Zack say otherwise? What are they hiding from me?'

"Max, what are you getting at? Just spit it out already." Rosie was already on edge. She wasn't as composed as Adrian; her panic was written all over her face.

"Ms. Mitchell, you know I ticked off Mr. Perot and got sent far away, not even daring to come near Northfield. But deep down, I really want to come back." The more anxious Rosie got, the calmer Max seemed, keeping a steady grip on the situation.

"Max, just say it. What do you want?" Rosie was very direct.

Max said, "Ms. Mitchell, can't you tell? I really want to return to Northfield and need your help."

"No problem." Rosie agreed without hesitation. "I'll talk to my father about you coming back to Northfield. Robert won't be able to stop you."

Max smiled. "Then if I come back, can I still handle my previous projects?"

Hearing that, Rosie's face changed. Max was truly greedy, wanting to take over his previous business after returning. Rosie couldn't make decisions for Patrick regarding someone like Max. The thought of it was disgusting.

Max wasn't in a hurry. He said slowly, "Ms. Mitchell, you know I'm on your side against Mr. Perot. After all, we're family, right? I can't stand seeing you suffer. Let me tell you this: your fiancé is currently meeting a woman."

Rosie's face turned pale. She couldn't help but think, 'How could he be meeting a woman? What kind of woman would make Robert leave me and rush to meet her overnight?'

Max smiled. "Ms. Mitchell, you should know who it is, right?"

Rosie certainly knew her; she was a thorn in Rosie's side. But ever since Robert got engaged to her, there hadn't been any other women around him.

At first, Rosie was worried and suspicious, but there was no sign of anything. Robert's whereabouts were very transparent, and whenever she asked, Zack would tell her everything.

Robert had said that as his fiancée, she deserved to know his every move. Because of this, Rosie had always been smug, thinking she had found the right person.

At this moment, Rosie was unsure, her mind in chaos, but she forced herself to stay calm and said, "Robert might have other matters. Since our engagement, I know his every move, and there are no other women around him. I trust him; he would never cheat on me."

Max suddenly burst into laughter. "Ms. Mitchell, I didn't expect you to be so naive. There's no man in the world who doesn't cheat. Mr. Perot's look at Molly in the video doesn't suggest he will control his desires."

Rosie didn't want to hear Max's words and mumbled, "Stop it. I believe Robert. You're just trying to stir things up between us."

Max wasn't flustered at all. He squinted and said, "Ms. Mitchell, haven't you thought that maybe Robert doesn't touch those women because he doesn't like them?"

Robert hadn't touched or interacted with other women, not even those who practically threw themselves at him. Rosie always believed he stayed clean because he was with her. But she never considered the possibility that Robert didn't touch those women because he didn't like them.

Rosie didn't dare to think further. She looked at Max desperately, her eyes fierce as she said, "Fine. You can have all the projects. Now tell me where he went."

"Of course, thank you, Ms. Mitchell." After giving the address, Max watched Rosie's car speed away. He was extremely satisfied; this negotiation was a great success.

Despite Adrian's frail body, he turned out to be quite resourceful. It was his idea for Max to inform Robert first and then negotiate with Rosie, and it worked out perfectly. Moreover, Rosie's agreement was safer than Adrian's. Robert might not respect Adrian, but he would respect Rosie.

Max spat on the ground and cursed, "What a mess. This time, I'll deal with all of you. You'll feel the suffering I've endured."

Robert's car stopped at the airport, and he arranged for a private jet. Rosie followed closely and stopped him at the airport. In the VIP lounge, Rosie called out to Robert, who was about to board, "Robert."

Robert stopped and turned around to see her, his brows furrowing unconsciously. "What are you doing here?" He said coldly.

"Where are you going?" Rosie asked.

Robert paused for a few seconds, then said, "Are you sure you want me to tell you?"

Rosie's heart sank, and she said, "Robert, you promised not to lie to me."

Robert calmly said, "I haven't lied to you. I'll tell you anything that you ask."

Robert's demeanor suggested she could ask anything, and he would answer, but Rosie was choked up. She couldn't ask anything. She was afraid that once she did, their relationship would be over.

Rosie choked up and said, "Robert, I don't want to know. Please don't go. Come home and have dinner with me, okay?"

Robert refused. "No."

"Robert, I won't question where you're going, but can you cut me some slack? Just this once, listen to me," Rosie found it hard to say but pressed on, "Afterward, you can go wherever you want, and I won't ask." She just wanted to buy some time to figure out how to deal with Molly.

At this moment, the flight attendant came to urge. "Mr. Perot, it's time to board."

Robert looked at his watch, then nodded. "Give me five more minutes." The flight attendant nodded and left.

Robert took a step towards Rosie, who was on the verge of collapsing, and gently supported her, speaking calmly, "Do you remember what I said the night you came to find me?"

Rosie's face turned pale, of course, she remembered it clearly. When Robert's scandal broke out, Rosie went straight to him and asked if it was true. Robert didn't hide it and admitted that it was him.

With tears streaming down her face, Rosie said, "Robert, this woman has ruined you. She just wants to destroy you and the company."

Robert nodded and said, "I know."

Rosie was shocked. "You know, and you still let her?"

Robert, looking slightly tired, said, "I can't leave her, so I have to keep her close." Rosie was speechless, and Robert didn't explain further. He turned and left.

During the days Robert was under investigation, Rosie lived in agony alone. She found that she couldn't bring herself to hate Robert. She only hated Molly, who had harmed her.

But she never considered that it was Robert who had trapped Molly, forcing her to act out of desperation to escape.

Until the night Robert was released on bail, Rosie couldn't hold back any longer and went to find him. When they met, the first thing Rosie said was, "Robert, I can help you."

Unexpectedly, Robert refused without even listening. Robert said, "I can't give you what you want. All my feelings, both love and hate, are tied to that person." Maybe he was so drained from dealing with Molly that he didn't have the energy to manipulate others.

But Rosie didn't give up. She said, "Robert, I don't need your love. Whether you love or hate her, I just want you by my side. You should know that the current predicament can only be resolved by our marriage."

Rosie thought this condition was tempting enough. She was beautiful, and her family background was excellent. Most importantly, Patrick adored her. Marrying her meant gaining the support of the Mitchell Group.

No matter their size, companies always sought to build on their success and achieve new heights. Moreover, the bigger the company, the more they understand that a strong alliance through marriage can ensure stable development.

Robert was silent for a few seconds and then said, "I can't accept it."

Rosie felt like she was struck by lightning. It took her a long time to say, "Robert, am I that bad? You know I would only help you, never harm you." Rosie couldn't understand why he wouldn't agree when she asked for nothing but a title.

"It's not that you're bad," Robert said, "I just don't want things to get complicated. Making a deal with me is bound to make you suffer."

Robert, hit hard by Molly's escape, had lost interest in everything. Even though Rosie was right, that she would only help him and it would be beneficial, he still didn't want it.

"Robert, you know all the shareholders are plotting to kick you out of the company, right?" Rosie said urgently, "Just know that once you leave the company, finding Molly won't be as easy."

Robert didn't respond, but there was a hint of frustration in his silence. Rosie knew she couldn't persuade him at this moment, so she threw out a bait. "Robert, our marriage is just to solve the current predicament, to strengthen the relationship between our families. If one day Molly reappears, I can tolerate her."

"I hope you think it over." After saying this, Rosie left heartbroken.

Robert was a very pragmatic person. He had made many enemies due to his ruthless actions. After his temporary downfall, these enemies concentrated their efforts on toppling the Perot Group, determined to see it disappear. The Perot Group was Robert's creation. Even if it were to fail, it shouldn't happen on his watch.

A month later, news of the Perot family and the Mitchell family union spread, and the wedding date was announced on the engagement day. With this support, Robert quickly returned to the company. After a few months of decisive actions, he regained his position and eliminated the disloyal.

Rosie thought that happiness would be hers from then on. Unexpectedly, Molly reappeared.

Robert helped Rosie into the chair and then let go of her hand. "I will honor my promise to marry you, but nothing more. We agreed on this from the start."

Time was running out, and Robert didn't say more, hoping Rosie would understand.

"But Robert." Rosie was unwilling to let go, tightly grabbing his coat.

Robert mercilessly pried her hand away. "Whether the contract continues or ends, I respect your decision."

Rosie felt like she had turned to stone, watching Robert's departing figure, powerless to do anything. The pain in her eyes turned to resentment, and she had long forgotten the contract they signed before their engagement.

"Robert, how can you treat me like this? I love you so much." She cried out, but it couldn't bring back the departing Robert.

Rosie had always been spoiled, but she had never done anything truly evil. But people like her, once they felt betrayed, could do things that would shock everyone.

On the plane, Robert looked at the photo. Molly was eating, and Kyle was serving her food, looking like a loving couple. Everything was as Robert had predicted. Molly had run away with Kyle.

Instantly, it felt like his blood was on fire. To be with Kyle, Molly would rather destroy Robert and herself just to get out. Thinking of that, Robert crushed his phone in his hand. The sharp glass cut his hand, making it bleed profusely.

Robert sneered, the gentleness in his handsome face replaced by a chilling, cold-blooded look. This time, even if he had to break her wings, he wouldn't let the bird fly away again.

Molly had been secretly working for days and finally finished knitting the scarf. She tried it on Kyle. He was tall with a long neck, and she hadn't estimated the length correctly, so it was a bit short.

She immediately wanted to take it apart and re-knit it, but Kyle liked it very much. He said he would take it off later tonight; he didn't want to take it off now. Molly couldn't argue with him, so she let him wear it.

They had planned to go to town today. There was an event, and villagers from various places were setting up stalls, making it very lively.

In town, Molly craved some snacks, but with her poor stomach, Kyle was cautious and only let her have small bites after checking them.

Molly loved sticky foods, even though they upset her stomach. After she ate a piece, Kyle took the rest and ate it himself. Someone with cold, distant eyes observed their playful food grabbing.
