Chapter 605 The Wedding 2
Harper shook her head, "I don't need to keep tabs on you. Everything about you is already splashed all over the legal news."
Honestly, it was no surprise Keith's followers bailed. Their bond was all about mutual gain, so how strong could it really be?
The only one who might've genuinely cared for him, Ryan, was back in prison. However, it was unclear whether Ryan had suddenly remembered his role as a father and thus refrained from betraying Keith.
In the end, Ryan didn't show much love for Keith. Both of them being locked up wouldn't help Ryan, so he might as well take the fall and leave Keith out there, giving him a shot at a rescue.
Ryan, like Keith, decided to shoulder the burden alone after weighing the pros and cons. But it wasn't like Ryan didn't love Keith at all; it was just that his love came with strings attached, terms, and calculations.
The only one Harper felt bad for was Keith's ex-fiancée, Saskia. She loved him with all her heart and trusted him, but who knew Keith would, for the sake of profit, send Saskia to a partner's bed.
Saskia, a twenty-year-old socialite, was controlled by Keith with drugs and subjected to all kinds of torment by a man in his fifties. When Saskia woke up, Keith had an alibi, successfully clearing himself, and conveniently sent the old man to prison, taking over the project the old man held.
Keith even told Saskia that if she wanted to be with him, she needed to be ready for unexpected events. In other words, this time being defiled wasn't the first, and there would be countless more.
Saskia truly loved Keith, so she endured it and didn't pursue it further. But hearing such words from the man she loved drove Saskia insane overnight. Saskia was raped, and Keith openly told her there would be many more such times in the future!
Saskia went completely mad, her speech becoming incoherent and nonsensical. Her parents had no choice, although they hated Keith deeply, they couldn't really take a knife and stab him. They could only send Saskia to a sanatorium for treatment.
Keith nonchalantly laughed, "Do you think those people at the police station can really bring me down? To tell you the truth, Harper, even if they arrest me now, they'll obediently release me within twenty-four hours."
Harper didn't doubt Keith's words because she had analyzed it with Francis. What Keith did indeed had legal loopholes. As long as he hired a top-notch lawyer, it should be easy to get away. And the millions of dollars in legal fees were nothing to Keith now.
Keith had siphoned off a lot of money through financial loopholes when he was at the Getty Group, which was then controlled by Ryan. Now, even if the Getty Group had evidence, they couldn't pursue Keith because Ryan had already taken all the blame.
Although Keith had a terrible reputation domestically, he wasn't developing his career there. Abroad, he was a well-known young entrepreneur. Poor Ryan was still waiting for Keith to rescue him. In reality, even if Ryan spent his whole life in prison, Keith would never save him.
Harper felt there was no cure for Keith's arrogance and said, "You wronged the woman who truly liked you."
Keith paused, thinking of Saskia's innocent face. Among the women he had been with, Saskia was indeed the one who was most willing to give everything. If it weren't for Harper, Keith might have liked Saskia.
Keith smiled slightly, "Harper, I don't love her. The only person I love is you."
Harper felt a wave of nausea, "Just because you don't love her, you can trample on her at will?"
"Mr. Bolton, your perspective is out of this world!" Harper pointed to the door and said, "Please leave now, or I'll call security."
As she spoke, Harper started feeling around the table for her phone to call the police. But Keith saw it clearly through the mirror.
Keith's lips curled up, "Harper, I didn't come to harm you, just to see you. You don't need to be so nervous."
Harper didn't believe him and pointed directly at the door, her voice icy, "Are you leaving or not?"
Since Keith saw her take the phone, there was no need to hide it. Harper picked up the phone and dialed 911. Before it connected, Keith suddenly rushed over, grabbed the phone, and hung up.
"Help!" Harper shouted, abandoning the phone and stepping back several paces to distance herself from the dangerous Keith.
Keith could walk in so boldly and stay for so long without any commotion outside, indicating that the security guards at the door had already been dealt with. Harper knew that confronting him head-on was not wise at this moment. Moreover, she didn't have the strength to wrestle with him, but using her wits might give her a chance.
Keith casually tossed the phone into a water glass on the table, then looked at Harper with a smile and said, "Harper, can you cancel the wedding and come with me?"
Harper felt a wave of panic and stared at Keith, "You're crazy. If you kidnap me, you won't get out of the venue."
Keith laughed at this. He said, "Harper, we are clearly in love. How can it be called kidnapping if I take you away?"
His words were chilling. Harper knew Keith must have arranged everything. If she really disappeared, the media would surely report that she ran away with Keith. Such a topic would inevitably affect the Getty Group's stock price. In the end, Keith's ultimate goal was to attack the Getty Group. Even if he couldn't beat the Getty Group, causing some trouble was still possible.
Harper said fiercely, "You won't succeed. To prevent any mishaps, I've already scheduled a post on social media. If the wedding doesn't go as planned, everyone will know something happened to me, and I'll ask all the people of Dreamlandia to help report it."
Keith's steps paused, not expecting Harper to be so clever as to come up with such a trick. If what Harper said was true, taking her away would indeed be quite troublesome. Keith understood that he was special now, and he couldn't afford any more trouble. Even his highly-paid lawyer said that as long as he could stay out of trouble for a month, he could perfectly resolve all issues within Dreamlandia.
Seeing Keith considering, Harper knew he was weighing the pros and cons again. He wondered whether it was worth the trouble to take her away. Harper simply put on an indifferent look, sat down on a chair, and said nonchalantly, "Mr. Bolton, why don't you give it a try? I bet your plane won't make it out of Northfield. Do you believe me?"
After a while, Keith took a step back and coldly smiled, "Harper, you're really smart. If we work together, we can take over all of Dreamlandia."
Hearing Keith say this, Harper knew the crisis was over. In just a minute, he had already abandoned the idea of taking her away. Mainly because she was indeed a troublesome problem.
Harper said, "Mr. Bolton, I don't have your ambition to conquer Dreamlandia, but I know that doing too many bad things will eventually lead to punishment!"
Harper advised, "I hope you think about this before you act in the future."
Keith laughed loudly, his words dripping with arrogance, "Harper, as long as I want, no one can ever catch me."
Keith's perfectionism had saved him many times. Plus, he had a very powerful lawyer, so he wasn't just blowing hot air.
Harper couldn't be bothered with Keith and just snorted, "Then let's wait. In my lifetime, my wish is to see you punished for the bad things you've done."
Keith felt quite regretful. Since becoming an adult, everything had gone smoothly for him, with everything developing according to his wishes. If things didn't go his way, he would take action to make them smooth. Just like in the battle for the Getty Group, even though he lost, Keith didn't suffer much. He had enough money to start over abroad. The only exception was Harper; he had never won against her.
With a loud bang, the door was suddenly kicked open, and Francis came in, landing a punch on Keith's face. Keith staggered back several steps. Francis stepped forward again, but Keith caught his fist.
Keith's tone was icy as he threatened, "Mr. Getty, do you want to spend your wedding day at the police station?"
Francis clenched his fist but didn't strike again. He stood up straight and said, "Will you leave on your own, or should I have someone throw you out? The police will be here soon!"
Francis had already called the police after receiving Harper's call. But since today was the wedding, Francis didn't want them to be disrupted. It would be best if Keith left and was arrested outside.
Keith patted his wrinkled suit and smiled, "Since no one welcomes me, I'll leave."
Before leaving, Keith stared at Harper and said meaningfully, "Harper, I will not have any regrets in this life."
Just that one sentence made Francis clench his fist again, ready to punch. Harper hurriedly pulled Francis back and whispered, "Don't fall for it. Today is our wedding."
Keith just wanted to cause a scene and prevent them from getting married today, but they wouldn't let him succeed.
Harper called out, "Throw this intruder out."
The bodyguards came in, and Keith shook off their hands, saying, "I can walk out myself." Then, Keith straightened his back and walked out.
Francis watched Keith's back, feeling uneasy, and immediately instructed someone to keep an eye on him to prevent him from causing any more trouble.
"Harper, are you okay?" Francis asked with concern after giving his instructions.
Actually, Francis had arranged a lot of security for today's wedding. Keith might have been able to get in, but he definitely couldn't take Harper away. Keith should have been glad he didn't take Harper away, because if Francis had hurt him under the pretense of fighting off a thug to save his wife, he would have been in serious trouble. But today was their wedding day, and Francis didn't want to be disturbed.
Harper shook her head and smiled, "I'm not that useless. He can't threaten me."
Francis hugged her and kissed her forehead, "Honey, as long as you're okay."
Jasper came in, saw the scene, and turned away in anger, "It's about to start. Can't you wait a little longer?"
Harper was amused by Jasper's reaction. She explained on behalf of Francis, "Jasper, we weren't doing anything. Don't say that."
Jasper was not happy at all; nothing hurt more than Harper's favoritism. She hadn't even married Francis yet, and she was already so biased towards him. In his anger, Jasper grabbed Francis's arm and walked out.
"Did you memorize your lines?" After Francis was thrown out, the host came over to check the process with Harper.
When Harper walked on stage holding Clayton's hand, all the lights focused on her. The beautiful diamond lights made her wedding dress shine brightly, making her look exceptionally dazzling. Harper looked like someone who had stepped out of a painting, incredibly beautiful.
Francis, in a black suit, was also very attractive on stage. With the lights surrounding them, the handsome man and beautiful woman looked perfect together.
The officiant held the microphone and asked, "Mr. Getty, do you take this woman, Miss Murphy, to be your wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"
Francis looked at her with deep affection and said without hesitation, "I do."
The officiant repeated the same words to Harper, and everyone looked at her. Harper looked at the audience, the lights shining on them one by one. Clayton and Jasper were there with the two babies, Abigail with Agnes, Rhodes with Elodie, and Noah, Zoey, Jessica, and Wesley were all there. Some people weren't there, but Harper had already received their blessings. There was no moment more perfect than this.
Harper turned back to look at Francis and firmly said, "I do."
Thunderous applause erupted from the audience, and everyone blessed them.
During a break in the wedding, Francis received a call from the person monitoring Keith. Unexpectedly, Keith had been hit by a car driven by Saskia, who had escaped from the sanatorium, shortly after leaving. Keith had a chance to be saved, but Saskia held onto him, not letting anyone get close. The delay in treatment led to Keith's death.
Francis said quietly, "Ok." With the threat eliminated, Francis breathed a sigh of relief. Turning to see Harper's radiant smile, he thought she looked incredibly beautiful. His woman should always smile without worries.
The wedding day was long and fun. In the evening, Abigail, as the grandmother, rightfully took Agnes and the two babies to sleep with her. Abigail's villa was next to Harper and Francis's wedding house, close enough to watch the kids but still giving everyone their space. Abigail couldn't take care of the three babies alone, so Zoey went with her, along with two nannies to help.
Meanwhile, Francis carried Harper upstairs.
Harper asked, "Are you tired?"
Francis raised an eyebrow, "Do you think so little of your husband?"
Harper's ears turned red.
Once inside, he kicked the door shut and asked her softly, "Honey, are you tired?"
Harper hugged his neck and smiled, "Not really."
"Shouldn't you change how you address me?" Francis placed her on the bed and leaned over her.
With Francis's handsome face so close, Harper blushed, "Thank you, honey."
As soon as she said that, Francis hugged her, "Baby, how will you thank me?"
Harper's cheeks became hot, "How do you want me to thank you?"
Francis paused deliberately before saying, "Thank me with your body."
"We're already married. I'm yours. How else can I thank you with my body..." Before she could finish, Francis's lips were already on hers.
She gasped.
Francis's hand slipped under her dress, his voice husky, "Thank me now."
Before long, she couldn't take it anymore. Her voice was soft and tearful, "Honey..."
Francis bit open the last button and lowered his head, "Be good, I'll be gentle."
Their sweetness was just beginning.
