Chapter 75 She's Quite Valuable
Molly's pupils shrank as she stared at Robert, the instigator of all this.
The corner of his lips twitched as he calmly uttered, "Aren't you going?"
Molly felt like she was struck by lightning, her entire body felt as if it was burning in excruciating pain.
This pain was more unbearable than any physical torture.
She suddenly trembled violently, her eyes filled with fearful tears.
"No. You can't," she said.
She panicked and crawled on the ground, reaching for the man's feet, wailing, "You, you can't treat me like this, you can't! I helped before."
These words instantly drained the color from Quinn's face.
Robert kicked her hand away, his voice cold as a blade, "You mentioned the past to me. Everyone knows the Koch family of Northfield is extremely vain and snobbish! Molly, I give you the power to choose. You can also choose not to listen to me, it's up to you."
Molly smiled bitterly, the power to choose?
Was it to choose for the Koch family to be completely taken out of the market and burdened with massive debts?
In that case, she was actually quite valuable.
Suddenly, she didn't care anymore, straightening her back and still saying the same words, "Robert, I don't owe you anything."
Her eyes were clear and frank, causing Robert's eyebrows to slightly furrow.
A thought flashed through his mind, could what Molly said about the past be true?
Did Molly really never betray him?
But this thought only lasted for a second before he dismissed it.
Robert forcefully brainwashed himself, he wouldn't believe a single word Molly said.
He had investigated, and not a single thing Molly mentioned ever happened.
He was convinced that Molly was a malicious person, and Molly must be a malicious person. Otherwise, his current actions would leave him burning with regret and eternal unrest.
Quinn's idea of making Molly famous also disappeared from her mind. The more people knew about Molly, the more disadvantageous it would be for her.
In that incident from years ago, it was hard to say that there wouldn't be a third person who knew about it.
Thinking of this, she stomped on Molly's arm, crushing it with her heel, her voice dripping with poison, "You slut, still seducing men in front of me, you have no shame!"
"Crack-"
The sound of bones breaking was crisp and clear.
Quinn then stopped her actions and said, "Forget it, carry her away. I don't want to see her polluting my sight."
After Robert and the others left, the restaurant manager took Molly to the hospital.
Molly had a broken hand and needed to be hospitalized.
The manager asked if she wanted to contact someone, but she shook her head. She couldn't let anyone know about how Robert treated her.
Otherwise, the Koch family would be completely finished.
Harper didn't know how she returned home. She felt dazed and sluggish.
She called Francis twice but no one answered.
When she was about to make a third call, she suddenly felt that her behavior was somewhat ridiculous.
From the moment they reconciled, Harper had been feeling uncertain and uneasy, always feeling that the current Francis was like a stolen treasure and her happiness was also stolen.
Later, she realized that the more she feared something happening, the more likely it would happen.
Harper fell asleep holding her phone and the first thing she did when she woke up was to grab her phone.
But there was nothing on it.
No calls, no messages.
She was distracted the entire day.
The next day, when she went to the hospital, Delaney asked her to pick out clothes, saying she needed to look good to meet Francis tomorrow.
Harper opened her mouth to speak, but seeing Delaney's happy expression, she couldn't bear to interrupt her good mood, so she didn't say anything.
In the evening, Francis finally called and asked her what's wrong, sounding tired.
"Are you coming back tomorrow?"
There was silence on the other end for a second, then they said, "Not coming back."
Harper thought for a moment and still asked, "You're not coming back because you're staying with Chloe, right?"
Francis narrowed his eyes, "Who told you that?"
Harper pursed her lips. Did someone still need to tell her? Chloe had already informed everyone, and she was the only one left in the dark.
Both of them didn't speak for a while, then Francis said, "Chloe did come over."
"But she didn't come to see me, she came here for some business and we've been busy, no contact."
"That's why you picked her up at the airport?"
"It's more chaotic over here, she came alone, so of course I had to take care of her."
Francis said the words ‘take care of her’ naturally, as if it was deeply ingrained in him.
Harper felt like her throat was being squeezed, her breathing becoming somewhat difficult.
After a moment's pause, Francis said again, "Darling, why do I feel that you're so hostile now?"
"Then I won't ask again." Harper said calmly.
Francis frowned, "Why are you angry again? Stop making a scene, I haven't slept much these past few days."
Harper found his words quite harsh, making her seem unreasonable.
But she believed that sincerity was the most important thing in a marriage.
He always ignored her calls when he was overseas, even when he was with Chloe, she found out from other people.
Wasn't she allowed to have some emotions?
Harper said seriously, "Francis, I'm not causing a scene, I just want you to be honest with me. Even if we decide to separate, I still hope that we can part on good terms."
Harper's tone wasn't pleasant, but she truly was very unhappy, unable to explain it to Delaney.
Francis and Chloe were still in the same country. As long as Chloe wanted, they would definitely have contact.
She really didn't want to look like a fool.
"Hmm, what do you mean, Harper?" Francis furrowed his brow and sounded displeased.
He couldn't stand to hear her talk about anything related to breaking up.
"It's nothing, just remember what I said," Harper composed herself and said lightly.
Afterwards, both of them fell silent.
This kind of silent silence was torturous, like some sort of implication.
Someone on the other side urged Francis, and he fluently communicated with them in a foreign language before telling Harper that he had to go.
Before hanging up, he said, "Don't overthink it."
Harper didn't sleep well that night.
The next day.
Harper went to the hospital early in the morning and explained to Delaney that Francis would not be coming back temporarily.
Delaney was quite disappointed upon hearing this news, but still reassured Harper that work was more important.
When Harper saw Delaney wearing that new outfit, she felt a bit uncomfortable, so she suggested, "Delaney, why don't we go back to our ancestral home and stay for a night?"
She knew that Delaney had been longing to go back to their ancestral home.
Delaney couldn't believe it and asked, "Would the doctor agree?"
"I will speak with the doctor and arrange the time," Harper replied.
After coming out, Harper went to talk to the doctor.
After flipping through Delaney's medical records, the doctor's face became serious. "You better be prepared."
Harper's heart sank into the depths of the sea once again.
