Chapter 471 You're Not Worthy
Jonathan hit the deck, dropping to his knees like a good little soldier.
Audrey stomped on his hand, grinding her heel in like she was putting out a cigarette. She didn't stop until she'd scraped off a layer of skin, leaving his hand a bloody mess. The whole time, Jonathan stayed put, head down, not making a peep. This pain? Child's play for him.
But Audrey was still fuming. Today had been a total disaster for her. She'd never been so humiliated! The accusations felt like slaps to her face. She was about to blow a gasket.
"You idiot, you almost ruined everything for me," she squealed. She aimed a kick at his head, but Jonathan caught her ankle. Her face twisted in rage. "Bastard, let go!"
Jonathan let her go gently, then knelt at her feet, all respectful-like. "Ms. Hernandez, you shouldn't tire yourself. Let me handle it."
He looked around, grabbed a golf club from the back of the car, and without a second thought, smashed it against his own head.
With a thud, blood started pouring down his face. Unfazed, he hit his right temple again, splattering some blood onto Audrey.
"Ew!" she shrieked, feeling sick.
Jonathan couldn't hold on any longer and dropped to one knee. But he still raised the club to hit himself again! It looked like he might not survive the next blow.
"Enough!" Audrey barked, not out of concern, but because she had other plans for him.
Jonathan, eyes blurred by blood, gasped, "Thank you, Ms. Hernandez."
"Get out, you're dirtying my car," she ordered.
The car stopped, and Jonathan was tossed out like trash. The van sped off without a second thought.
A moment later, the car pulled up in front of a mansion. Audrey stepped out, and a dark blue sports car screeched to a halt in front of her, right on cue. The door opened, and a pair of shiny leather shoes hit the ground. Francis, looking like a Greek god but with a face like ice, walked towards her.
Audrey clutched her chest in fear, then covered her belly. "What... what do you want?" she stammered, backing away.
Francis's murderous vibe was off the charts. In a flash, his hand was around her neck.
"Ah..." Her scream died in her throat. Her face turned purple, and her breathing got ragged. She thought he might actually kill her.
Just as she was about to pass out, Francis let go in disgust. Audrey staggered, clutching the car door, coughing violently. When she finally looked up, she saw his cold, unfeeling face, and tears started to fall.
"Francis, you're crazy. I'm carrying your child," she said, breathless.
Francis looked at her, ice-cold. "Audrey, what part of my words in the office did you not get?"
Her neck throbbed with pain. She'd always been pampered, never treated like this. But no matter how hurt she felt, she had to swallow it in front of an angry Francis.
Tears welled up as she said, "Francis, I didn't go looking for her. I ran into her at the mall. I swear, I didn't mean to cross her. If you don't believe me, ask Mom..."
"Shut up!" Francis cut her off, ice-cold. "That's not your mom, and the kid in your belly ain't mine. How many times do I gotta say it?"
Audrey's tears flowed like a river as she sobbed, "Francis, I swear, you're the father of my child."
"Me?" Francis's eyes were dead cold as he sneered, "Did you just magically get pregnant with my kid?"
"I..." Audrey stammered, lost for words, but she kept pushing, "Francis, believe me. This is definitely your child."
"Really?" Francis raised an eyebrow, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Audrey, do you think I'm an idiot?"
His blatant contempt made it crystal clear to Audrey that her hopes were dead in the water. Her face turned beet red with embarrassment, looking like a total mess. "Francis, I'm not lying. This really is your child. Even if you don't like it, you gotta face the truth."
Francis saw no point in arguing. With one hand in his pocket, he warned, "Audrey, I don't care what game you're playing, but if you mess with Harper, you're crossing the line. I told you last time, there will be consequences. Seems like you didn't listen. I hope the Hernandez family can handle your stupidity."
Audrey's face was a mask of fear as she sobbed, "Francis, are you threatening me? What are you gonna do to the Hernandez family?"
"You'll find out soon enough," Francis said, his tone calm but chilling.
Audrey had seen Francis's ruthless side before and knew he wasn't bluffing. She cried harder, her face red and neck flushed, looking like a wronged little girl, a far cry from how she acted with Jonathan.
"Francis, we've been through so much together. Can you really be this heartless? Have you ever thought that this child might really be yours? You'll regret treating me like this."
"I won't," Francis replied, stone-cold. "You should be grateful that the child you're carrying isn't mine."
Audrey's eyelids twitched violently. "What do you mean?"
Francis's gaze dropped to her stomach. "Otherwise, this child wouldn't have lived."
Audrey was shocked, tears streaming down her face. "Francis, this is your child. How can you be so heartless? Have you thought about your mother? She's not getting any younger and wants a grandchild..."
Francis cut her off, impatient. "Audrey, this isn't a negotiation. It's your last warning. If this happens again, I won't just go after the Hernandez family."
Audrey never thought that even carrying his child wouldn't earn her any sympathy from Francis. He was heartless.
She finally broke down, crying, "Francis, for another woman, you're treating me like this. I love you so much, I'm willing to bear your children. How could you..."
Audrey looked up, confused. "How could my child, who is also yours, be any less important than Harper's child with another man?"
Francis could accept Harper and her child with another man. Why couldn't he accept the child Audrey was carrying for him?
Audrey was agitated as she added, "That bastard, so why can't you..."
WHAM! A key was thrown hard at her lips. Francis hated hitting women, but he wouldn't let anyone insult his daughter.
Audrey was so stunned she forgot to cry! Her lips were burning, probably cut. She covered her mouth and squeaked, "Francis, you hit me."
Francis's dark eyes were menacing as he snapped, "You are not worthy of mentioning them in front of me."
