Chapter 405 Do You Have Feelings For Me?
As soon as those words dropped, the air went dead silent.
But Kyle? He just grinned. "Molly, I know you care about me," he said.
Molly probably didn't even realize it, but every time she lied, her thumb would dig into her index finger's nail.
That little habit made Kyle's grin even wider.
Realizing she was trying to mess with him on purpose, he felt like his heart was about to jump out of his chest from the excitement.
Molly was floored; she didn't expect Kyle to call her bluff.
Her eyes got a bit red, and she snapped, "This is pointless. Just stop, okay? I don't need your help."
She couldn't wrap her head around why Kyle, a perfectly good doctor, would get mixed up with the crazy Scott family.
Molly had her suspicions about Kyle's background for a while.
When he was abroad, he always had bodyguards with him.
Those bodyguards looked like they worked for some big-shot family, but they weren't hired by Kyle, which meant someone rich and powerful was protecting him.
Connecting the dots, Molly had always kept tabs on the high society gossip.
She'd heard that Lydia was recently doting on the Scott family's newly returned illegitimate son, but she never thought that son would be Kyle.
The Scott family had a trashy reputation, and they were a hot mess. Chaos was basically their brand.
Kyle was such a good guy; she didn't want him getting dragged into their mess.
Kyle blurted out, "I don't do anything pointless."
Knowing this wasn't the place to talk, he whispered, "Molly, meet me at the usual spot at midnight tomorrow."
Molly shook her head and softly said, "I won't go."
Kyle was used to her rejections and harsh words. He just smiled, "Then I'll wait every night."
Molly was speechless.
Kyle added, "I saw that oatmeal porridge earlier; you can't have it. Don't forget to take your meds when you get back."
Molly's eyes instantly welled up.
Kyle was so good and kind that it made her feel like she was turning into Robert, a cold and heartless beast.
The spotless mirror reflected the image of the two of them, one tall and one short.
Kyle slightly lowered his head, and his thumb gently wiped away the tear that was about to fall from Molly's eye.
He rubbed the tear with his fingers and murmured, "Molly, do you have feelings for me?"
Molly suddenly got nervous.
Kyle's lips curled slightly, his voice low but clearly happy, as he said, "You don't need to answer; I'll figure it out myself."
Molly was once again at a loss for words, like she couldn't bear to ruin his good mood.
Kyle's eyes were determined as he looked at her and said, "Molly, give me time, and I'll grow up."
He would become the strong man she needed, the one who could protect her from anything.
Molly wanted to say something, but a very gloomy voice came from around the corner. "What are you talking about?"
Robert's cold, handsome face emerged from behind the scenery.
He had switched into another sharp suit, looking cool as ever, his deep eyes locked onto them with a dangerous glint.
Molly's body shook, her palms clenched tight, super tense.
Kyle, on the other hand, was chill. He said calmly, "Nothing much."
"Oh." Robert's voice was cold as ice.
Then, he stepped forward, wrapped his long arms around Molly's shoulder, and pulled her close, way too intimately.
Feeling Molly trembling in his arms, he smirked and said, "Why are your hands so cold?"
That smooth, sexy voice made her scalp tingle.
Robert had the looks and the charm, and when he turned on the gentleness, it was seriously confusing.
Molly felt the nausea rising in her chest again.
But Robert just held her tighter, his cold lips brushing her forehead, his voice softening as he said, "Don't catch a cold."
Molly's whole body was freezing, every cell screaming in resistance. She felt sick.
Robert was pushing it, more and more.
"Let go!" she hissed in his ear through gritted teeth.
Robert acted like he didn't hear, smirking and holding her even tighter, looking like they were whispering sweet nothings.
Kyle's fist clenched, his handsome face darkening, his clear eyes blazing.
Just then, Lydia's cheerful voice rang out. "Kyle, there you are."
She walked over and naturally linked her arm with Kyle's, like they were already a couple.
Lydia pouted and said playfully, "You really made me search for you."
Kyle didn't react, or rather, he didn't even seem to notice her.
His eyes were fixed, a storm brewing, on the two people in front of him.
After spending the day with Kyle, Lydia knew he was the quiet type, so she didn't mind.
Looking at the tightly embracing 'couple' in front of them, she smiled and said, "Robert, do you have to be so lovey-dovey? Get a room already."
Robert smiled deeply, looking at Kyle, and said, "It's late. You guys have fun."
With that, he switched to holding Molly's hand and marched out with her.
Molly didn't struggle this time; she could feel a burning gaze behind her, almost piercing through her.
But she didn't want Kyle to keep going down a hopeless path! She wanted everything go back to the start just like that.
Lydia held Kyle's arm and said, "Let's go too."
Kyle followed the couple in front, dragging his feet.
When Molly got into the car, Kyle and Lydia stood outside.
Lydia happily waved to Robert and said, "Goodbye, Robert."
Robert nodded slightly.
Then, he glanced at the despondent Molly beside him and leaned over to fasten her seatbelt.
Molly instinctively leaned back and then said in a lightly disgusted tone, "Robert, they're out of sight. How long are you gonna keep that act up?"
"What?" For the first time tonight, Robert finally dropped the fake smile, his lips pressing down hard. He said fiercely, "Molly, I love you. Do you think all this is just for show?"
