Chapter 453 I'm Back

Molly checked out Zack's shocked face and grinned, "Words have spread out aboutMr. Perot being nabbed by the cops. From now on, Perot Group's stock is gonna tank, and all your projects and subsidiaries are gonna take a hit. So even if you think Mr. Perot can wiggle out of this one, nothing can be helped."

Zack's face got darker, while Molly's smile just got more smug.

In the sweetest voice, she dropped the harshest bomb, "By the time he gets out, Perot Group will be in shambles. All your hard work? Down the drain. Just wait and see how my 'little' tricks hold up against the mighty Perot Group!"

Molly had thought this through a million ways, even what to do if she messed up. So, she made sure the media blew up the news about Robert getting investigated.

As long as Perot Group was on the decline, with all their enemies, it wouldn't be long before Robert was a nobody. Molly just had to sit back and chill; plenty of folks would take care of that jerk Robert for her. Plus, financial crimes usually meant about ten years in the slammer, not a death sentence.

Even though she knew Harrison was pushed to his death because of him, he didn't do it himself, so the law couldn't touch him. So, she didn't just want Robert dead; she wanted him to watch his empire crumble right in front of him! Meanwhile, he'd be stomped on and humiliated, living a life worse than death! Now that's real revenge!

Zack didn't expect Molly to know so much, and his smug look turned into pure rage. He threw out a threat, "If anything happens to Mr. Perot, you're done for!"

With that, Zack stormed off.

Molly walked to the window and watched Robert get into the car, surrounded by flashing cameras. She let out a long breath, feeling relieved she hadn't totally blown it. If things went right, Robert would be locked up for at least ten years. Ten years later, his power would be long gone, and the name Robert Perot would be history in Northfield.

Anyway, whether Robert ended up in prison or not, Perot Group was on a one-way trip downhill. But looking at the current mess, unless the Mitchell family wanted to hurt themselves to save Robert, Robert's fate was pretty much sealed.

The Mitchell family had already been burned by Robert twice; no way they'd risk their own necks to save him.

Downstairs, through the car window, Robert suddenly looked up at a window in the hospital building. It was like he knew Molly would be there to watch him fall.

But honestly, Robert hadn't shown any emotion since the investigators showed up. He didn't look scared or embarrassed. Just like now, Robert sat in the car with his legs crossed and his back slightly reclined. Anyone who didn't know better would think he was heading to some fancy event.

The hospital room was way up high, and probably no one could see clearly from below if anyone was looking down, yet Robert stared like it was right in front of him.

Molly left the window. Her job was done. As long as Robert was convicted, she could live openly with Taylor, free from any threats. This was the life she had dreamed of, one she never thought possible, and finally, it was within reach.

Kyle saw Molly's spaced-out look and tried to comfort her, "Molly, I also handed in that material. With this extra charge, he's not getting away."

Molly's heart sank. She had promised not to drag anyone else into this, but she had still pulled Kyle in.

She spun around to look at Kyle's handsome face. He used to be this pure-hearted angel, all about saving lives. Now, he was tainted by her tragic life.

Molly blurted out, "Kyle, if Robert goes down this time, don't go back to the Scott family."

The Scott family’s drama was no place for him, and besides, all his wounds came from them.

"Okay." Kyle's eyes were clear and pure as he said, "Molly, everything's gonna be alright from now on."

Really? Even though she knew Robert's case was a slam dunk, Molly still felt uneasy. Especially Robert's parting words haunted her. "I will never let you go."

They echoed in her mind like a curse.

Harper had been at the hospital for three days, and Francis still hadn't woken up, with these on-and-off high fevers that just wouldn't quit.

The doc said it was because a busted rib had punctured something important. Even though the surgery was on point, the post-op infection was a mess. The main thing was to avoid another fever; if he spiked again at night, it was straight to the ICU.

Harper took care of him all night, not missing a beat. At dawn, Agnes called, saying she missed them. Harper swallowed her heartache and spent some time comforting Agnes.

After hanging up, Harper went back to the bedside and took Francis' temperature. Seeing it was 98.7°F, she felt a wave of relief; the fever hadn't come back, and her tense heart finally relaxed.

Harper sat by the bed, gently stroking Francis' handsome face, and whispered, "Francis, please wake up, okay? Wake up, and we can be together."

Francis stayed still, and sadness washed over Harper. She held his wrist, slowly pressing it against her face to feel his pulse. The rhythmic beating was reassuring.

Suddenly, there was a loud bang as the door to the hospital room was slammed open. "If you stop me from seeing my son again, I'll have you fired!" Abigail's voice rang out.

Harper was startled, letting go of Francis' hand and jumping to her feet.

When Abigail saw her, she paused, her eyes filled with disbelief.

They hadn't seen each other in just a few years, and Abigail looked ten years older. She looked sick and aged, and Harper almost didn't recognize her.

Even though Abigail had told them to break up, she hadn't actually done anything to hurt Harper. So, Harper said politely, "Mrs. Getty..."

Before she could finish, Abigail suddenly rushed over and slapped Harper with lightning speed. Harper covered her face, standing there in shock.

Victor was also stunned. Before Abigail could raise her hand again, he grabbed it and sternly said, "Mrs. Getty, don't!"

"Let go!" Abigail shook him off angrily, but couldn't, and got even more furious.

She pointed at Harper's face and cursed, "This jinx is really back. As soon as you returned, my son ended up in the hospital. Stay away from my son."

Harper's face burned, and she was bewildered by what she heard. It seemed Abigail had just found out about her return.

Victor reminded her, "Mrs. Getty, Ms. Murphy has been taking care of Mr. Getty these past few days, and Mr. Getty has also allowed her to stay with him."

"Get out of my way!" Abigail shouted.

When Abigail threw a fit, Victor wasn't capable of handling her.

"If you can't even take care of my son, what's the use of having you as an assistant?" Abigail squealed.

Victor didn't argue, bowing his head and taking the scolding, as this was Francis' mother.

After scolding Victor, Abigail picked up her handbag and threw it at Harper, saying coldly, "You get out with him!"

Harper dodged the bag, her eyes turning cold. She didn't recognize this Abigail anymore. This shrewish, unreasonable behavior was nothing like the once elegant and heroic wealthy lady she knew.

She didn't retaliate because, yeah, Francis was hurt because of her. A mom freaking out over her son was something she could get. But that didn't mean she was a pushover.

"Abigail, I'm not leaving until Francis wakes up. Either we stay here peacefully, or you can leave!"

Abigail was livid and shouted, "Who do you think you are? Just some trash my son threw away, and you dare ask me to leave?"

Each word hit Harper hard. After all, this was the woman she once felt motherly warmth from.

She didn't want to argue with Abigail in Francis' ward. She turned to Victor and said, "Victor, please, help her calm down and stop making such a fuss."

Victor nodded and tried to soothe Abigail, "Mrs. Getty, Mr. Getty needs to rest quietly. Why don't you go home and rest for a bit? I'll let you know when he wakes up."

"Why should I leave?" Abigail snapped, "If anyone should leave, it's that outsider. I'm his mother."

Victor said, "But Mr. Getty specifically asked for Ms. Murphy to take care of him. Mrs. Getty, please understand, if Mr. Getty wakes up and finds out you treated Ms. Murphy this way, he will be unhappy."

Mentioning Francis made Abigail a bit uneasy. After all, their relationship hadn't been great in recent years. But thinking of Logan's prediction, Abigail felt uneasy, "I won't leave. If anyone should leave, it's that jinx."

She strode forward and reached out to push Harper, shouting, "Don't touch my son, and don't even get close to him."

Harper was caught off guard and stumbled backward. Luckily, she grabbed the edge of the table to steady herself. Victor quickly stepped forward to support Harper.

At that moment, there was a clap of applause from outside, and a man in a black suit walked in, his tone mocking as he said, "This is quite a show."

Abigail's face changed instantly when she saw the man.

Abigail asked, "What are you doing here?"

The man acted like he didn't hear her and walked straight to Harper. His dark eyes fixed on her for a while before he slowly spoke, "Harper, long time."

Harper looked at the familiar man, feeling like it had been a century since their last meeting. She moved her lips and called out the rusty name, "Keith, what are you doing here?"

Wasn't he supposed to be in a vegetative state? How could this be?

Seeing Harper's stunned expression, Keith put on a gentle smile and said, "Harper, I'm back."

She didn't know what to say, rooted to the ground. Even though Keith's face was now as gentle as a breeze, she couldn't forget his crazed look when he wanted to possess her.

Abigail also hated Keith, especially his face, which increasingly resembled Francis'. "Get out of here. You're not welcome!"

Harper still didn't get the situation. Why did Abigail seem to hate Keith so much? When did she know Keith?

The next moment, her confusion was cleared up.

Keith turned and walked towards Abigail. With each step he took, Abigail's grip tightened as she looked very nervous.

Keith stopped and called out a shocking term very gently. "Mom, what are you saying? Francis is sick, and as his brother, it's natural for me to visit him. Your words hurt my feelings."

Harper was petrified. Keith called Abigail "Mom."

Abigail, however, was not moved and cursed, "Bastard, don't call me that. No one in the Getty family will ever acknowledge you. You're just the result of Ryan's affair, and you dare dream of entering our family? Keep dreaming."

Even though Abigail's words were harsh, Keith kept smiling. He said calmly, "Mom, don't you know? Well, you must be too worried about Francis to have had time to watch the morning news. It's not too late yet."

With that, Keith picked up the remote control from the table, turned on the TV, and switched to the financial news channel.

On TV, the female anchor was reporting, "At 8 AM this morning, Ryan Getty, the chairman of Northfield's Getty Group, held a press conference to announce that the Getty family has recently found their youngest son, Keith Getty, who will join the Getty Group as the General Manager of the Foreign Trade Department. It is reported that their youngest son..."

Abigail picked up a cup and smashed it against the TV, screaming, "How dare Ryan make such a decision without my consent!"

The more agitated Abigail became, the calmer and more gentle Keith's expression remained. He smiled and said, "Mom, you're joking again. With your small shareholding, father doesn't need your approval for his decisions."

Abigail was trembling with anger. She raised her hand to slap him, but Keith grabbed her wrist. A flash of anger appeared in his eyes as he said, "What? You think you can use the same method on me as you did on her?"

Keith said this while looking at Harper. Her red cheek was heartbreaking to him.

His lips curved slightly, and he unintentionally squeezed Abigail's wrist until it cracked.

Abigail squeaked, "Let go of me, you bastard!"

Keith enjoyed Abigail's pained expression and gently reminded her, "You are, after all, Mrs. Getty. Be mindful of your words and actions. If the media catches wind of this, it won't be good for Francis. Don't you agree?"

His words were gentle but full of threats.

Abigail was in so much pain that she couldn't speak. After all, she was old, and the pain made her break out in a cold sweat.

Victor noticed something was wrong and quickly intervened, "Please let go."

Keith smiled, "I'm having a conversation with my mother. Is it your place to interrupt?"

Victor tried to pull Keith away, but before he could touch him, two bodyguards came in and restrained Victor. Keith ordered, "Take Victor for a coffee."

Of course, the "coffee" didn't mean an actual coffee.

Victor was quite skilled at fighting, but the room was crowded, and he was worried about accidentally hurting Harper and the others, so he couldn't fully exert himself.

After Victor was taken out, Harper couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Keith, let go!"

Keith's smile faded slightly, and he looked at Harper with some confusion and said, "Harper, she hurt you. Don't you hate her?"

Harper said coldly, "That's between Abigail and me. It has nothing to do with you. Now, please leave this room."

The knowledge that Keith was the illegitimate son Audrey had mentioned made Harper even more wary. He was a hard case.

Harper's distant words in their minutes-long reunion vanished Keith's smile and cast a chilling shadow on his face. Keith released Abigail and then grabbed Harper's chin, forcing her back step by step.

Keith said, "Harper, after all these years, you're still so ungrateful."

Harper grabbed Keith's strong arm and tried to pull it down. "Let go of me."

Keith pushed Harper against the wall, his expression twisted as he hissed, "Let go? Harper, I came back specifically for you. Didn't you promise to go with me?"

Keith's words shocked Harper!

Keith continued to press closer, his cold lips almost touching Harper's ear, and he said, "I will take you away. This time, even if it's your corpse, I will take it away with me."

Harper's eyes widened, looking at Keith as if he were a madman! His lips were almost on hers.

Harper struggled desperately, but it was useless.

"Let her go!" A deep voice finally rendered Keith stop.
