Chapter 516 The Beginning is Also the End

Molly was just too damn hot, too hard to resist.

Molly noticed his shift, first in shock, then she blew up, "Robert, have you no shame?"

In broad daylight, with the car door wide open, he wanted to get it on.

Robert fought to keep it together, but thinking about her health, he managed to hold back. He said, "I'll let it slide today. Once you're better, we'll make up for it."

Molly didn't even want to look at him, thinking he was totally nuts.

Robert got back in the driver's seat and started the car smoothly.

For some reason, he seemed way more relaxed. Maybe Molly's betrayal wasn't all bad this time. At least because of this betrayal and the previous stabbing, he felt like he didn't owe Molly as much anymore. The punishment was done, and it was time to move on and live a different life.

When they got to Molly's apartment, Robert insisted on walking her to the door. Molly gave him a suspicious look, worried he still wanted to continue what they had done in the parking lot, and muttered, "Only to the door, you're not coming in."

Seeing her rare girly side, Robert couldn't help but laugh, coughing as he said, "I've pulled a few all-nighters myself, I don't have that much energy."

"I don't believe you!" Molly shot back as she got in the elevator. Who was it just now, making it so obvious he wanted it?

Robert paused, then followed her, his smile growing wider.

Since Molly's return, he hadn't smiled this much, but his suspicious nature was hard to shake. He asked, "Molly, are you up to something?"

Molly lowered her eyes, hiding her expression, and mocked, "Since you doubt me, if I say no, would you believe me?"

Robert didn't answer but asked her back, "Can I believe you?"

The surroundings went quiet, Robert's deep eyes were unreadable, and he obsessively asked again, "Molly, can I trust you?"

"Robert, the biggest mistake of my life was meeting you. Now that my family is ruined, if I say I don't hate you, do you think that's possible?"

Robert looked at her silently, not surprised by the answer.

Molly gave a bitter smile, "But my abilities are limited, I can't fight you. Now I don't even know how many more years I have left to live. I can't fight anymore, and I don't want to. So I surrender. From now on, you can do whatever you want with me, is that okay?"

Her voice was hollow and weak, and with her overly pale face, it seemed even her breathing was telling how exhausted she was.

Almost instantly, Robert's doubts vanished.

Molly, feeling low, said faintly, "I've said what I needed to say. Whether you believe it or not is up to you."

The elevator opened, and she stepped out. But her arm was suddenly grabbed, and the next second, Robert pinned her shoulders against the wall. Molly instinctively closed her eyes, but the expected pain didn't come.

Robert had already placed his hand behind her back. He looked down at her and said softly, "Molly, many times, I don't want to hurt you. But when you look at another man, even for a second, I want to gouge out his eyes! Gradually, I realized that this obsession and possessiveness only exist for you. Maybe I've never truly hated you. From the beginning, I just wanted to keep you by my side."

Molly looked at him, her lips curled in a mocking smile, wanting to say something, but he pressed two fingers against her lips. He continued, "I know that no matter what I say now, it can't erase the hurt I've caused you. But as long as you sincerely stay by my side, I promise you, I'll try to change."

Robert's hand cupped the back of her head, pressing her against his chest, holding her tightly, and said hoarsely, "Molly, let's live like this for the rest of our lives."

Even if all that was left was hate, he wasn't about to let go.

Molly let him hold her, maybe she was just too tired to fight back. But her eyes, lowered, were surprisingly calm. All that hate was buried deep, way deep.

When they finally pulled apart, Robert felt something different for the first time. He stuck his leg in the door and grinned, "Really not letting me in?"

Molly kept a stern face, "You just promised."

But Robert barged in, cupped her face, and planted a hot kiss on her. Just as Molly was about to blow up, he let her go and chuckled, "Got it."

Robert stepped back out, leaned against the door frame, one hand in his pocket, and said with a carefree attitude, "I'll pick you up tomorrow night."

The response he got was the door slamming shut with emotion.

Robert stared at the closed door for a few seconds, then couldn't help but laugh and walked away. Little did he know, behind the door, Molly's eyes were glued to the video doorbell. Seeing Robert enter the elevator and go down was not enough, she rushed to the window to confirm his car had left.

Once the black Maybach exited the complex, she immediately opened the cabinet, entered the safe's password, and took out a burner phone to make a call.

"Hey, I booked a 6 AM flight. Pack your bags now. A car will pick you and Taylor up to go to the airport. There'll be another car to pick you up when you arrive. We'll meet up at the destination."

After hanging up, Molly removed the SIM card, burned it with a lighter until it was charred, broke it in half, and flushed it down the toilet. She smashed the phone case with a knife handle, put the pieces in a trash bag, and got ready to take it with her.

Then, she took out the luggage she had prepped, changed into a black outfit, and left with the trash bag. Being cautious, Molly didn't head straight to the underground garage but went to a temporary parking spot in the complex and got into an inconspicuous car.

Molly drove the car out the back gate. As she approached the exit, she noticed the security personnel were different from usual. Their build and stance were nothing like the usual lazy security guards.

Seeing her car approach, two of the security guards stood up very alertly. Molly's hand trembled, but she kept driving forward, pretending to be an outsider looking for a parking spot.

In the rearview mirror, she saw one of the security guards running towards her. Molly sped up, hurriedly parked at the next corner, and got out of the car without even taking her suitcase.

Footsteps approached. Molly felt a chill down her spine. She should have known Robert wouldn't trust her. All those heartfelt words were lies, meant to lower her guard and see if she could pass the final test. If she got caught again, she couldn't imagine what she would face.

The most crucial thing was Taylor. Robert would definitely doubt every word she said and speed up his search for Taylor.

Molly had never felt so terrified. With no time to run, she could only dive into the bushes. Before she could get in, someone grabbed her waist and yanked her back. She stumbled into a solid chest.

Molly's heart raced with tension, her whole body trembling as she tried to kick the person. But her mouth was suddenly covered, and a familiar voice whispered in her ear, "It's me."

Molly froze, and the next second, Kyle pulled her into the opposite direction's greenery. Both of them fell to the ground, Kyle propping himself up on his elbow above her. Molly finally saw those clear, bright eyes.

She widened her eyes, about to speak, but Kyle covered her mouth. He made a shushing gesture. Then, they heard the walkie-talkie, "Unit One, any activity over there?"

The guard codenamed Unit One carefully checked the bushes where Molly had tried to hide and replied, "No activity, probably just a resident returning home."

As the footsteps faded, the tense atmosphere finally lifted. Molly opened her mouth, eyes full of astonishment, "Kyle, how did you..."

Kyle said nothing, pulled out a cane, and stood up. He put the cane down and extended his left hand, which had been holding the cane, to help her up.

Molly noticed that his right wrist was severely injured and hadn't healed yet. Once she stood up, he took her hand and led her to a nearby car.

As they walked, Molly realized that Kyle's left leg was also severely injured, causing him to limp badly. Molly felt a pang of sadness and asked, "Kyle, where are you taking me?"

"Get in the car first." After Molly got in the car, he reached out his hand, "Give me the keys."

"The keys?"

"Yes, give them to me."

Molly handed him the car keys in a daze, and Kyle took them, loaded the suitcase into the car, and closed the door. He then sat in the back seat and said, "You were planning to take a flight? You can't. I had a friend create a fake flight record for you, and I canceled Taylor's flight record too. I've arranged for a car to take them to the location you mentioned."

He checked the time and said, "They should be on their way now."

Molly, still in a daze, slowly came to her senses, "Kyle, you're crazy! Don't get involved with me anymore. You need to leave before anyone sees you."

As she spoke, she reached for the car door to get out, but it was locked. Kyle grabbed her wrist tightly and said, "If we leave, we leave together."

Molly looked at the scar on his face, and tears uncontrollably welled up in her eyes. "You're such an idiot."

With one hand holding her wrist, Kyle couldn't use his wounded hand to wipe her tears. He used his sleeve to wipe her tears and said hoarsely, "We promised to face difficulties together. Are you trying to abandon me?"

Molly cried even harder, "You're such a fool. There's no one dumber than you in this world."

Kyle could have been an outstanding person, but he ended up like this because of her.

At that moment, a driver got in, someone Kyle had arranged from the complex. Once the car started, a hidden partition rose up. This special partition made it impossible to hear the sounds from the back seat or see that there were two people hiding there.

Molly panicked and grabbed Kyle's hand, saying, "Kyle, let me out. I can't drag you down with me anymore."

Robert was a vengeful person. If he found out that Kyle had helped her escape, the retribution would be unimaginable. Kyle was already in such a state; was he now willing to risk his life?

Molly pleaded with him, "Kyle, I'm begging you, go back. Don't get involved with me. I don't want to owe you any more."

"I'm not going back," Kyle continued to wipe her tears with his sleeve and said softly, "Molly, wherever you are, that's my home."

"No, you can't!" Molly said anxiously, "Don't worry, I'm not escaping without a plan. I just scheduled explosive news to be released on multiple social media platforms at 2:30 AM. After that, Robert will be too busy to bother you."

Molly had implemented a plan to destroy both herself and him.

"Molly." Kyle looked at her with an unyielding stubbornness in his eyes, "I've never wavered in over ten years. Do you think you can change my mind now?"

Molly couldn't find the words. No one understood Kyle's determination better than she did.

Kyle's eyes shone with a faint light, and he said in a low voice, "Molly, I've never had a home. It's only with you that I feel at home."

He reached out and tightly held her slender fingers, saying firmly, "Even if you only see me as a brother for the rest of your life, I'm willing."

Molly felt like she had lost a ton of strength in an instant, but she also gained some courage to face life. At this moment, she couldn't tell what emotion she was feeling. Maybe it was a sense of mutual dependence, or maybe something else was changing deep inside her.

She didn't want to think about it anymore. She stopped resisting and placed her hand in his. Kyle was someone she could always trust.

The car sped along the road. Molly looked at the open sunroof and the starry sky, feeling a sense of unreality. "Did we really escape?"

"Yeah, we did."

Molly asked, "How did you know I was leaving tonight?"

"When you had the nurse give me that note today, I guessed it."

Before leaving, she knew Kyle was also in the hospital, so she had the nurse give him a note. She had advised him to leave the Scott family and its troubles behind. Rene was a ruthless person. Even with his own children, he wouldn't hesitate to abandon them at critical moments.

Molly closed her eyes and checked the time. It was 2:31 AM. She pointed to the LCD screen in front and asked, "Can this screen show the news?"

"Yeah."

"Turn it on," she said.

When the LCD screen turned on, an array of news flashes, financial updates and entertainment bulletins all cascaded across the display with fervent urgency. It was a video of the president of the Perot Group and a woman making love in a club. In the video, Robert's actions were brutal and violent, almost torturous.

The comments online were even more intense.

[Is this how rich people get their kicks? So many tricks?]

[Is this the president of the Perot Group, Robert? This guy’s a total pervert!]

[Even if the woman is willing, this is too disgusting.]

[The things he's saying are so cruel and vicious. It looks like a threat, and although the image isn't clear, it looks like someone is being beaten up?]

"Do you see it?" Molly said, "I had a hidden camera that day."

Molly knew that meeting Robert would inevitably lead to something happening, so she had prepared in advance. This video couldn't convict Robert of anything. Both parties were willing, at most proving his predilection for power plays and humiliation.

But for the Perot Group, which had already suffered from Robert's arrest and investigation, this was another heavy blow and test. The board of directors would never sit idly by. The loss of large orders and the departure of partners after careful consideration were not something the already shaky Perot Group could bear.

The reason for releasing it late at night was to prevent them from having a chance to do damage control. From now on, Robert would be overwhelmed for a long time. If lucky, he would be criticized and step down. In any case, it wouldn't be easy for him.

Molly looked at herself in the video, her beautiful eyes now empty and desolate. Her voice was hoarse, as if her throat had been burned, "Kyle, I'm already too dirty, but you're different. You can still have a better life. There's no need to fall into the mud with me."

Molly exposed herself right here right now just to make Kyle see that she was really dirty. And even if she didn't expose herself, he would still see it online.

Kyle's heart suddenly ached intensely, as if someone was tearing it apart and hollowing it out. The endless heartache made it painful for him to speak or breathe.

"Molly, in my heart, you're always as flawless as the moon." He reached out and hugged her, his voice choked with emotion, "It must have hurt a lot, right?"

In an instant, Molly's tears flowed like rain again. Being cared for like this felt so good.

The stars illuminated the road ahead, and in the barren, parched heart, a resilient white rose quietly bloomed. Molly didn't know that this night marked the beginning of the most beautiful time in her life, but it was also the last beautiful time she had left.

But at this moment, her heart was full of gratitude.

They both needed to live well.
